England win 3-1 and move onto the World Cup final on Saturday. Brewster completing a hat-trick.

Tim Vickery says:
Astonished at the individual quality of the England U-17s - Foden, McEachran, Brewster and others against a very good Brazil team

I thought it was a decent game although Brazil's strikers were just crap,Mali or Spain in the final.

And Vickery knows his stuff. Shame their development will be stunted and swallowed up by the system though and not given a chance to flourish unlike the Spanish/German/Brazilian youngsters do.

I am hoping that the trend for young English players to go abroad really kicks on. If these players are as good as everyone thinks they could be, foreign clubs will want them, and English clubs will always be able to afford to buy them back when they are ready to play every week in the Prem..

Jadon Sancho was recalled by Dortmund from this tournament and made his debut last week. I doubt he would have been anywhere near the Man City team aged 17. Hinds has played for Wolfsburg this season, and Willock is not far off the team at Benfica. All three are England youth internationals who made permanent transfers abroad this Summer.

England will be world leaders for years to come. These millenials are sick. Immigration policy is paying off.

A Wolves player scores in a World Cup Final, never thought I'd see the day.

Super character shown by the kids, 2-0 down and running out such clear winners.

What a few months it's been for England.

Superb comeback turned into a really emphatic win. There are some real gems in that team. Can't believe Hudson-Odoi is only 16. And I don't think Phil Foden would look out of the place in the PL already (no need to rush him though obviously).

Winning the u20's and u17's world cups in the same calendar year is an amazing feat.

First nation ever to win 3 major youth age tournaments in a year: 2 World Cups and our regional Euros. Not too shabby.

These players by mere virtue of their success have become huge assets so if they aren't given opportunities they'll just go somewhere else where they are. These are clever boys anyway, wearing the names on their front was evidence of their astuteness.

Impressive, I'd be surprised if England don't go on to win a major international trophy in the next 10 years.

Everything is set for them, a large population and their game changer - a truly incredible amount of money. They had 19 staff for 21 players at the U-17 World Cup. Even the biggest nations don't seem to be able to compete spending wise with the FA.

The only thing that might block them? The complete, rampant incompetence of the FA and the fact Southgate is the manager of the seniors.

I really hope I'm not in the UK if they do win a major competition.

They might as well just award us the 2022 cup now.

you have to play us before! ;)

And to win titles is so difficult, you'll need luck, your players in good mood and good answers for the questions, set by the opponent.

but that's true, what a great achievement for the english football.

the only thing, that could stop these youngsters, are the british managers. They won't stop playing to hof the ball, won't they?

That's right. Not too shabby, not at all! Congratulations for having such promising youth. Can we expect them winning a major (adult) tournament in the next 10 years?
Of course, if they are guided well in the senior squads and having the necessary luck in a tournament that you need. Not always the best teams comes to win it all, see Brazil in 2014, who had an off day against Germany. Bad luck, ey! :D

tbh: In the years to come I'll be fearing these youngsters if.....yeah if...(fill in ) ;)

The youth have shown themselves to be the best in the world at that level, now the next step is obviously trying to integrate them into their club sides and seeing if they can get some serious playing time. The Spanish and Germans aren't shy about doing that, but it will be tragic for the English boys if this was shown to be their peak, due to mismanagement, lack of game time and play style. Going to be interesting to see if we'll be hearing of half of them in a few years. Will the lad from City (Foden? ) be a first teamer within a few years for example?

That's it Dirk always keep them in their place - the rest of us can't do it, but you Gerries can! :D

Having 19 staff for 21 players is only any good if they're vaguely competent. 19 bumbling idiots would only be a hindrance to the squad rather than a help! For a long time we've cited a deficit in quality and quantity of suitably qualified coaches compared with other nations as a problem.

If an improvement on the coaching front can be allied with an improvement in the raw materials coming through, then you certainly have a recipe for some success.

We still have the myriad of hurdles to overcome at senior level. Not least in getting game time for their clubs in senior football to continue development. But you can't help but be happy about the foundation being laid currently.
