I agree with the fact there are probably four teams worse than you. However regarding Kay, he’s talented but has very little knowledge of the game, doesn’t put his head up and is quite greedy and had a real attitude problem at Chesterfield. Glad we didn’t sign him because we offered him a contract

Yeah, he lost his head with the ref the other night in a friendly against a team of kids. Looks talented but with a short fuse. Hopefully we see the best of him.

A Final Update for ours, we're so well prepared and ready we've even done our squad numbers which I've also included:

Goalkeepers
1. Dean Brill
12. Charlie Grainger
24. Sam Sargeant

Defenders
2. Sam Ling
3. Joe Widdowson
5. George Elokobi
6. Josh Coulson
14. Myles Judd
15. Dan Happe
21. Marvin Ekpiteta

Midfielders
7. Jobi McAnuff
4. Alex Lawless
8. Craig Clay
11. James Dayton
16. James Brophy
17. Dale Gorman
19. Josh Koroma
22. Charlie Lee

Forwards
9. Macauley Bonne
10. David Mooney
18. Matt Harrold
20. Ruel Sotiriou
27. James Alabi

Our squad reports back for training tomorrow and we've completed our squad for the coming season. We already had around 22 players under contract anyway and we only needed one central midfielder and one striker to sign.

That squad should be challenging for the top 7 IMO. There is enough of a mix of youth and experience and squad depth there to do so. We're strong in the wide positions IMO.

For me we still lack a bit of bite in midfield, Alex Lawless is very meh and Charlie Lee spent all of last season out with an ACL injury, so who knows what he will come back like.

Up front is a bit of lottery, Bonne is a good player for this level as we all know after 25 goals last season, so keeping him is key. Mooney was fucking shite last season but still found 6 goals and won us some points early on.

James Alabi has to wake himself up to try and rediscover his Chester form after being shite all of last season.

Finally we have Matt Harrold who I personally don't think is that bad at this level, he has his uses up front and when defending with his height, but he is soon to be 35 and just keeps getting injured all the time and has to come off after around 65mins as age has caught up with him, he is currently out till September (allegedly!) so we may still bring in a loan striker. The worst decision Ling made last summer was giving him a two year deal, because its meant we can't get someone younger and better in who would've seen us gone from playoff contenders to maybe something a bit more.
You should piss this league with that squad. Alabi will score goals for you if you give him balls to run on to. So long as you don't expect him to win headers. If he doesn't get a few goals early his confidence will drain. Tranmere completely fucked him up. Good luck next season.

You have zero strikers?? My word. Folks on Red Passion are freaking out about us not having a proven senior striker yet, goodness knows how yours are holding up..

In Conference North you can just stick a defender up front and see if that works.

We've had a tall striker trialling with us who has done well and scored 3 in two I think. Can't find out who it is yet, but Jonno reckons we're just assessing his fitness before we sign him. I suppose Matty Hughes and Iwan Murray could play up front as well.

Not Mani Dieseruvwe is it? Was with Salford last season and apparently hasn't been with them for this pre-season despite having another year left on his contract.

A mate speculates that it might be Deane Smalley?

He's right, Smalley is the trialist. Mind you we are after a Salford striker as well, don't know which one as they have 25,000 of them.

They'll be challenging City and United as the biggest team in Greater Manchester in 4 years time.

We now have 7/8 players in our squad that have played more than 100 games for the club.

Can Salford City match that?

Our squad is almost there now. A couple more hopefully to come in with one of them needing to be a target man up front. There is a huge Akinde shaped hole that needs to be filled.

Hard to gauge where we are giving the opposition in pre-season but goals are a concern. Relying heavily on Tarpey who is coming back from a serious injury and has only played a few games at this level anyway, Coulthirst who has never been prolific and Barham who is stepping up a long way from where he has been scoring for fun.

We should be good from set plays with Sparkes' delivery and I expect us to be hard to break down. Whether that will be good enough to challenge remains to be seen.

Taylor is going to have to wheel and deal his way through the season. Hopefully get 1-2 experienced heads in on loan once the season gets going and inevitably some will be frozen out by parent clubs. We're looking weak though. Definitely a relegation battle this season.

Looks a good squad on paper but I still have reservations about the defence as if Davies gets injured we’re knackered. Lots of competition for places elsewhere though. Think we’ll be flitting between a preferred form of 352 and back 4 systems if needed because of injury, tactical reasons or suspension.

Short on wingers, forwards and Defensive cover. Both keepers are currently injured too

Add a few youth to that maybe but nobody that looks like they can make much of a impact, had 4/5 trialist's last night too

Some good players signed but still going to be lacking width and cutting edge going forward imo. We cant afford a third season with one of the lowest goal tallies in the league. Could do with a player who can cover both centre back and full back.

Think if we’re going with 3 more (but I think more may come now), then I’d like to see another centre forward, centre back cover (Carrington can cover both full back positions and also more cover if we sign this trialist right back) and an attacking left footed winger.

We have 15 players in the squad for our friendly against Macclesfield tonight, two of them being GK's and two being youth players. Can anyone lend us some players please?

Would I be right in saying that Barnet now own the National League as they've been relegated into more times than any other team.

James Caton - Transfer listed

Think that's pretty much us done baring maybe a young keeper to sit on the bench and possibly a defensive midfielder. Though that may depend on getting rid of Caton and I don't have much hope of that happening. All in all I think we've strengthened and we'll definitely carry a goal threat next season. We need Jonny Burn to step up and fill Josh Heatons boots after he got a transfer to the SPL. Looking forward to the season ahead and think we have a good chance of making the top 7.

We certainly have enough midfielders, especially if we sign Tom Elliot.

Agree about carrying more of a goal threat this season, as not only do we have the best strike force in the division with Styche and Ainge, but we've added Nicholson who has a great goal scoring record too. With Thompson and Syers also being pretty good for goals I think we're definitely well set.

In nets I think we'll give Matty Bancroft another contract as understudy to Johnny Maddison.

Biggest worry is defence, where we have not only lost Josh Heaton, but a raft of other defenders too.

Certainly the likes of O'Hanlon, Galbraith and Trotman have proven to be quality defenders at this level but we only have a grand total of 6 out and out defenders? This is not enough, especially given that Collins is always crocked (and surprise, surprise is again), and Trotman often gets crocked.

We need more depth there, the squad is unbalanced.

By far the and away the strongest squad we have had for 5 years since the Akinde season.
We look very very solid. If we can stay injury free I belive we can mount a serious promotion challenge. Cant see us going forward with three keepers. Ross Durrant may leave.
