It's all very depressing.
I still think Nuneaton would have been a better option with some temporary stands to take the capacity up to 6000.
At least its a taxi ride away or a bus.
From what I remember of Nuneaton, their ground really wouldn’t be setup for this.

Fans were brilliant at London Road a few weeks ago , feel sorry for them , politics on all levels along with greed is a shitty thing.

Maybe ripping it up & starting again aka Wimbledon style with initially the fans running the club could be a way forward but that means starting from the lower echelons of the football league.

Have the fans been to Ricoh & protested on a Rugby match day ?

How do attendances for both codes compare. ?

CCFC are about 11/12k match day , do Wasps get more ?

Looks like a groundshare with Coventry rugby could be on.

All Coventry fans are up for this. Ground currently holds 4000 but I'm sure with a few temp stands it could be put up to about 12k

Super location being close to the city centre and Earlsdon.
Would be sold out every week and certainly not a nice place for away teams to come to.

Great news if it comes off. Will be like when Brighton went to the Withdean.
10000 would be sold out every week with many locked out for big games. And the local pubs will be very happy.

If you ever went to the Withdean (the absolutely most soul destroying place to watch football ever), you would not be greeting it as good news. The prospect of another ground like that sends shivers down my spine.

The Butts would be the polar opposite to the Withdean.

I think the survival of the football club is more important than where they play, it’s the core of the community and that seems to be lost outside of the fan base. If we find ourselves in the same league next season I will be more than happy to visit if I can get a ticket

Definitely mate.

There are a lot of good people at Coventry City and the work they do in the community is incredible.

Jobs were lost the last time we moved away from the city and the same will happen again.

I presume the rugby ground hasn't got an athletics track (and more) around it which the Withdean did.

Wasps have averaged 16k so far this season. They're not even a Coventry club are they? Are 16k rugby fans trekking from London every week?

Bet they're fucking loving it. The hatred towards football fans from rugby fans has been evident for years. Bunch of elitist cockwombles who'll be giddy with excitement at the prospect of fucking over the thuggish football fans. Hope the Ricoh burns down with a capacity Wasps crowd.

Guess they just catch the local rugby fan who isn't a Leicester Tigers supporter.

They give thousands of free tickets away.

More recently their crowds have dropped below the football club.

The Ricoh was due to host a big festival with the likes of David Guetta but had to be cancelled due to the lack of interest. That is the third major event cancelled at the stadium in 12 months.

I'm certain Wasps won't be able to run that stadium alone in the long term.

I fucking hate egg chasing.
And the bellends that watch it.
Really? I've never been bothered to watch club rugby, but the 6 nations is amazing.

Looking forward to the World Cup too - coincidentally (or so I tell the missus) we'll be in Japan on holiday for the WC and in Tokyo for the final :shifty:

I was the same until the last World Cup was spoiled by the match constantly being stopped for decisions to be reviewed. England's first match should have finished at 80 minutes but it must have had at least 15 minutes added on. I gave up and haven't watched another since apart from a Harlequins match at Twickers that I stewarded. Not a bad match but the imported American razzamatazz was awful.

Well football might be like that in the future with VAR!

Rugby can be hard to follow live at times if your not really sure of the rules etc.

Of course the fans create (and expect) a different sort of atmosphere which is sometimes a good and bad thing.

Seems like they are still in discussions with Wasps for an agreement to stay at the Ricoh .

European courts involved.

SISU didn't make Wasps aware of this.

Wasps have now abandoned stadium talks.

Groundshare with Birmingham/someone else looks well and truly on.

Latest statement:

Coventry City Football Club would like to update its supporters, following yesterday’s statement (15 May) made by Wasps.
There is no European Commission complaint against Wasps. The complaint, made by our Owners SISU in February, is against Coventry City Council only.
In mid-April, SISU signed an undertaking to irrevocably cease all proceedings against Wasps relating to the sale and lease of the Ricoh Arena, in order to allow talks about extending our agreement at the Ricoh Arena to take place.
Wasps stated their position publicly yesterday, reiterating their previous opposition to legal action and now adding their opposition to any other action around the sale of the stadium in 2014, and their opinions surrounding the EU complaint.
Nick Eastwood said yesterday: “Regrettably, this means that the condition set out above for us to enter or continue discussions with CCFC has not been met.” The condition referenced yesterday by Nick has not been broken, but instead yet more onerous and undeliverable conditions have been added by Wasps to their pre-existing conditions to enter talks.
Last Friday in our update to fans, we spoke of ‘hurdles’ and this is one of those hurdles that we alluded to. As a result, we are unfortunately accelerating our back-up groundshare plans.
Further details of discussions with Wasps Holdings Limited remain confidential, due to mutually signed confidentiality agreements.

Disgrace all round. How the parties involved have allowed Coventry to end up moving out of the city again is a shambles.

Why is that then - do they just blame SISU?

What do Wasps fans think of all this....or do they not care having got a top stadium for nothing and now kicking the football team out of it.

I don't understand that. How do SISU think that only take action against CCC won't implicate Wasps in some way?

Unless I've got it completely wrong.

Like most of us I'm not in possession of all of the history and facts of this situation, but what I don't understand is why SISU and CCC seem to get all of the criticism?

Obviously they deserve criticism, but Wasps seem to get a free pass from everyone, and they're the ones who've come in and stolen the football club's ground. OK, they may have paid for it, but if there was no Wasps to sell to then this situation wouldn't exist surely?

We had London Welsh ground sharing with us and they aided by Kassam, the stadium owner, tried to buy the ground and install us as their tenants a few years ago. Our supporters trust had registered the stadium as an asset of community value and managed to publicise it and get it stopped before it started, and thankfully London Welsh got relegated and went bust.

As much as I wouldn't trust any third party stadium owner, I most definitely do not trust the (mostly London based) rugby clubs who look to manoeuvre themselves into football club stadiums through the back door. They're snidey untrustworthy middle class arseholes who have no love for our game and would not give a second thought to killing a football club for the benefit of their own weird minority sport.

Tides are turning. Fans are turning against Wasps.
