Yes, I know we only have 1 real derby as do our visitors from across the bridges but I'm old enough to remember when games against Cardiff were total war zones and a time when City and Rovers fans stood side by side to repel them at Eastville ( a very long time ago) so this game matters. Add in Colin as our favorite pantomime villain and this has all the ingredients to be a rip snorter.
Unfortunately, we are riding the crest of a slump and, by all accounts, Cardiff aren't much better.
I can see little Lee (signings dependent) going 5-3-2, or a flavour of it for this one. If the new right back materialises, I reckon we will play with wing backs and the impressive Hegeler sat in front of Flint, Wright and Magners, leaving Tomlin free to do what he does best. We might even have a goalkeeper in, you never know.
It might work but, knowing our luck, it probably won't.

---------------------------------------ROD / New
----------------------Wright-------------Flint----------------Magners
Svensson / Little---------------------------------------------------------Joe Bryan
-------------------------------Brownhill----------Hegeler
------------------------------------------Tomlin
-------------------------------Djuric---------------Abraham

1-1 :(

If this German bloke is as good as people say then should be able to boss the midfield in a two.

O'Donnell
Little Wright Magnusson Golbourne
Hegeler Brownhill
Paterson Tomlin O'Dowda
Abraham

3-5-2 looks like a 0-0 team to me

If you ask nicely, Bamba may let Tammy boy play this time round ;)

But in all seriousness we've looked better the last couple of weeks so I'm hoping we can get a result. God knows how we'll line up with us supposed to be busy in the market this week but I'd imagine the spine would be the same as usual.

I'll go 1-1 with Gunnarson netting for us.

Bamba was brilliant in the last game, has to be said.
I doubt Tammy will be on his own this time though. Djuric, although he didn't get much service on Saturday could work as a good foil for him once they get to know each other's game a bit more.

Indeed, I tip my hat to Bamba, he was superb in the game at their place.

He's been incredible since he signed tbf, the sort of centre half we've needed since we got rid of Hudson a few years ago.
My only worry for this game is that even though we've started creating a fair bit we still can't put the ball away. Desperately crying out for a Chopra or McCormack type player to be seen down here again.

Don't really care how this goes, as if we ever beat Cardiff anyway.

Think Jay Bothroyd is knocking about at some 2nd division Japanese side if you want him back?

 I was going to suggest the same.

If not, either Gustav Engvall or Paul Gladon might fancy a kickabout at some stage and be available for a loan.

Nah he can go fuck himself, soon as he got that England cap he thought he was too good for the club. Even though he was part of one of the best front 3 this league has ever seen.

For what it matters he had his head up his own arse when at Wolves too. Always loved him for his last minute 30 yard winner away at Leeds. but ultimately as he did you, his ego got the better of him.

Yeah that was the big thing when we signed him was how bad his attitude at you guys was. Fair play to Dave Jones though he got his arm around him and got the very best out of him for the couple of years we had him. What I would do to see him Chopra & McCormack in their prime back in Cardiff.

Really is crisis point for Bristol now, what the fuck is going on? I said a few weeks ago that in all seriousness you will muddle through and finish uninspiring but safely in mid-table. I'm now retracting that, you look absolute certs for the drop.

No we don't.

Massively underselling ourselves, spent nearly £20m on a squad that is very good individually but the football is turgid. We'll sort it out probably without Johnson. Was the same last season, we went through an awful winter run but our squad was good enough to keep us up. Our squad is much, much better this time round.

How on earth can this plum drop Tomlin, not even put Bobby Reid in the squad and then play a bloody winger as an attacking midfielder? I actually felt sorry for O'Dowda as the kid clearly didn't have a bloody clue what he was supposed to be doing in central midfield and it wasn't his fault at all.

Fair enough, I thought he looked totally lost. Lee T should have been playing there IMHO but I totally respect your view.
As I said, I don't blame COD at all but feel he was played in a position totally foreign to him.

Nah. Let's get real for a moment, you're going down this season. :dk:
