Nobody use the word wanker at tranmere. It upsets them.

Of course, if Norwood stood in front of the Macc fans calling them wankers just after scoring, they'd just shrug it off... :pond:

We'd not be crying about it 6 months later. Funny how Ollie Norburn wasn't shy in returning the favour to Hancox after your Wembley win.

Don't blame him, either. Anyway, on to the football itself, I love Friday night football under the lights.

One daft footballer and a knob head on twitter ignites the biggest rivalry the North West has ever seen.

Mint.

Its far from that but it has left a pretty bad taste in the mouths of a lot of Tranmere fans. There was no need whatsoever for it and I would like to think our players would not have done the same under those circumstances. I didn`t see any vids on Youtube of our players taking the piss out of Borehamwood...did you?

Shame.

That prick Andrade deserved a torrent of abuse for his 3 dives.

It was all so unnecessary from the Macc team and fans, no harm in celebrating but there was no need for any gloating/goading aimed in Rovers direction. Previously had been an amiable relationship between the two sides.

I think tonight will be a scrappy game, where the windy weather will be a bit of a leveller. Draw seems the most likely outcome.

It would have given you a place in the tin pot thread forever if you had!

It’s the nature of the best from football fans especially (not necessarily the players to be fair).

Most are arseholes and take the piss out of others and their failure or demise. It’s not right, it just happens.

I seem to remember several years ago Tranmere fans gloating and massively taking the piss out of us when we lost at your place on the last day of the season and got relegated from Division 1at the time.

You reep what you sow comes to mind.

Most were sympathetic, the tools often shout louder though. We've certainly been on the receiving end of that too. Fans will be fans, players should act with a bit more class.

Anyway, it's been done to death.

The issue is ego.

Tranmere hated being runners up to Macclesfield Town.
Nah, most of us respected what you'd achieved - you were worthy winners, there was no ego trip. We had no gripe with you at all until your players started doing what they did.

What’s done is done , don’t agree with what Mitch said but I think karma is having its laugh (unless Mark Blower is part of a Tranmere sleeper cell )

Macc probably the better side at h/t and Rovers don’t have the options on the bench to significantly change how we’re playing.

Let's agree to a 0-0 and we can all be friends again?

Well... We didn't look like a team in the playoff positions and Macc didn't look bad either. A draw might have been the fairest result, but that was a battling win. 3 points closer to safety...

We weren’t great tonight but still should have won 3-0. The miss from Jennings in particular was criminal.

Macc were passing it nicely but didn’t ever really do anything with it. They’ll need to unearth a striker or two f they want to stay up.

Up to fourth. Best start ever by a team promoted from the national league afaik.

"Who the fuck are Tranmere Rovers..."

Terrible game, especially first half. Thought it looked a nailed on 0-0 except for Connor Jennings' only positive contribution of the game and a good finish from Gilmour. Neither side offered much going forward though. Stuffy 1-0 win but we'll take it.

You say that but we missed two one on ones and hit the post twice..

Was a non descript game on the whole. Decent atmosphere second half though, as with the Lincoln game it has a noticeable impact on players.

Don't forget Macc came the closest to scoring (aside from the goal of course). Inside of the post, and out across goal... it doesn't get any closer than that!

Buxton hit the post for us as well, and Jennings and Norwood both missed one-on-ones, so I don't think there is any doubt we had the better chances. Macc were well organised but created nothing in open play. However, their number 24, Rose, has got a fantastic left foot and put in some great deliveries.

It was a poor game and I think Mellon got the tactics wrong tonight. A 451 formation does not work against a team that is unambitious as Macclesfield. We just got bogged down.

However, we are up to fourth and attracting crowds of 6,500 plus for bogstandard league games, which is way above my expectations at the start of the season.

Don't agree that macc looked okay, i thought they were awful from start to finish. We weren't much better, if at all, in the first half, but in the second played some decent stuff and created enough to have won more comfortably.

If you create clear cut chances, win the game and restrict the other team to nothing but a long range free kick that hits the post, how are the tactics wrong?

I can't wait to see what happens when he gets it right if that's the case...
