Can you see Ronaldo playing in Quatar at 37? Portugal would need to be seriously short of options for that to happen. Which could happen I guess, they're not exactly chockablock with WC talent.

Euro 2020 will be his send off I reckon, as captain of the defending team.

Ronaldo was atrocious tonight. Don't get me wrong, Uruguay did a good job of shutting him down, but he was awful. See ya Ronny.

Uruguay did to Portugal what they did to us in 2014. A bang average team with a superb CB and 2 superb strikers. Carried like Portugal on star power alone. Be interesting to see how a much better French side get on against this Uruguay defence, bar that mistake for the Pepe goal, they were excellent.
Ahem, that's two superb CBs. Jose Gimenez is a fucking outstanding player, and only 23.

So that's 4 superb players, yet the team is bang average? I don't think you're giving Uruguay enough credit.

Certainly fit enough and the role he has now doesn't require olympian levels of fitness.

He is to them what Cahill is to Australia. He'll be in the squad at least, if he doesn't retire before then.

I was wondering yesterday about Ronaldo and retirement. He'll earn enough from punditry, management(if that's the route he wants to take), acting, endorsements, sponsorships, money already earned in his career to not need to play another minute of football again in his life. He's won the Euros, won every domestic title in Spain and England, won 5 Champions Leagues. He's got dozens of individual club and country records.

What more can he achieve? What more does he want to achieve? When does he decide enough is enough and hang up the boots?

If we do get to the final, I'd much rather play Brazil or France than Uruguay (although all 3 would more than likely beat us), Uruguay are so organised and have probably the best strike partnership in international football as well as the best CB pairing.
