Past it? Not sure. Absolute rammel? Most definitely
He was toilet when he played for us back in the League One days then he went to Rochdale and became a world beater!

Must be getting on a bit now though?

Is O’Grady passed it?

O'Grady is absolutely stealing a crazy wage. If he had anything about him, he'd walk now and good luck to him finding a new club.

O'Grady is just absolutely terrible, simple as that. I'd liken it to watching a centre back play upfront! No first touch, can't finish, and he's barely ever in the box even though he's a striker?

The fact he's our highest paid player ever considering some of the quality forwards we've had over the years is criminal.

I remember when we had him on loan years ago and that description is exactly what I thought of him but then he seemed to do well at other clubs. Odd player.

Scott McManus is a club legend and has said he could no longer commit to travelling from Leicester when he has a full-time job and a young family, so it's gutting to see him leave. I would assume Josh Wilde and Nathan Hotte were also offered terms as they are both good enough for the Conference, but there were always bound to be a few players who couldn't make the step-up to full time football and this is probably why Wilde and Hotte have left.

Louis Dodds would suit most teams who would want to challenge for the league this season, i guess the reason he has been told he can leave is that he is a high earner and possibly doesn't want to drop into non league?

I thought Jack Dunn was being touted as some future superstar when he was on loan with you lot originally.

Kirby please
Kirby is the only slight surprise on that list. Broke his leg last year, had just got himself back in contention only to suffer another injury which kept him out for the rest of the season. Does divide opinion for Rovers fans, some will be delighted at his departure.

McEveley and Dunn have been generally awful, it’s a surprise the latter was kept on so long by Liverpool. Duggan wasn’t rated by the manager, given a regular start in his preferred midfield position, might do a reasonable job at this level or NLN.

I'd take him as a back up option.

No, seriously.

My mate went to school with Kirby. He was offered a contract but on lower terms. I'd take him.

Dunn showed occasional flashes of class, and I'm sure a team who could give him a decent run in their first team would get more from him than we did. Potential to be another one of those players who did better after being released.

I remember him having a good game against us when we went there the season before the one just gone. We were truly awful that day, but he looked strong and useful on the ball.

I liked Jack Dunn playing when we had Tollit on the opposite flank. VNL teams shit themselves even when parking the bus. The lad has definitely got something to offer.

Dunn has got a lot of natural ability but his decision making is poor. He is one of those players that looks like he has never graduated beyond youth football. As likely to try a forty yard shot as play a simple ball to a team mate. Maybe that will improve with time.

Mangan is shite yet it wouldnt surprise me if we took him as he’s friends with our manager. In fact he seems to be friends with every manager in the game. I’d be furious if we sign him

Quite the clear out for us.

I'd give the club 6/10 for that list. I would've kept Oates and possibly Adams. I wouldn't have listed Cassidy either. I would've got rid of Hawkins as well like, he's shite. I hope they haven't offered Rodders a 2 year deal, hopefully a 1+1. He is wank but he shouldn't be if you look at him and every now and then he does something that makes you think there's a player there. But he badly needed a loan out to Conference North last year instead of being in the firing line the whole time.

Featherstone I'd keep on another year as in the right system he has a part to play. The others can't have many complaints, maybe Connor Newton might have had a part to play? The question is will we shift them and I'm not sure we will. Donnelly offered a deal but he won't stay will he? What worries me a bit (but comes as no surprise) is the club saying they don't fit in the budget. Bar isn't set too high this season, then. Depressing but it is what it is, we need carefully managing until the club gets on its feet.

If we go 433 like we were (ish) under Bates, it might look like this:

Loach
Richardson
Magnay
+1 CD/ Donnelly?
+ 1 LB
Featherstone
Hawkes
Woods
+ 1 CF
Rodders
+1 CF

Lots of work to do with that squad. Bates will do well to get us challenging at the right end.

I think what that list shows is that we're having to cut our cloth accordingly this season after the crap the last lot left us with, we had a bloated squad many on two year deals that was rife with long term injury, I'd argue Donaldson, Munns and Newton will all be top earners and will need to be shifted, probably at no cost to another club, transfer listing them is like a come and take them off our hands plea, as for the comedy duo Laing and Harrison, there's no way we'll shift them.

Cassidy was also a bit of a shock to me but his goal scoring record has been shit, 5 goals from 35 games, looks a lot better when given a strike partner upfront but he should be doing a lot better, can't imagine clubs lining up to take him off our hands. I'd of also kept a hold of Adams, he was utter shite at the start of the season but seemed to improve a lot as the season went on.

I can only see Featherstone staying out of the three offered deals, Donnelly will end up in Scotland and if I was Rodders and had a sniff of a contract elsewhere I'd fuck off as well, the lad is 19 and gets pelters every week from the thickets, some people can't wait for him to make a mistake, sometimes he doesn't resemble a footballer but he's shown glimpses that there's one in there, he's a bit like Jermaine Easter, a lad we binned off only to go on to much bigger things and carve out an international career for himself in the process.

George can have no complaints and should probably retire at this point and Oates just hasn't progressed at all, he can run for 60 minutes before he is blowing out of his arse.

Sounds like next year is gonna be a get the house in order and consolidate season, can see a few signings propped up with a greater use of the loan system this time out.

I think Cassidy is a decent player at this level and with better service and a more stable off field situation, he'd easily get into double figures. There could be takers for him but in the lower leagues, there's always a role for his type of forward.

Oates just hasn't progressed at all, he can run for 60 minutes before he is blowing out of his arse..

Oates is an asset but not as a regular starter, great to stick on as sub last 20/30 mins but like you say fitness is an issue. I'd have kept him but only offered a reduced deal as a squad player which I'm sure he'd reject. Not gutted he's gone but will get fixed up at this level over the summer I'm sure.

The budget will be reduced but still competitive I'd have thought. Bottom half of course, like everyone else in the division. Agree there'll probably be only about 4 permanent signings. A lot of that I'd imagine will be done later on in pre season after seeing how many of the wasters we can shift. Heard there's a serious offer in for one player, Johnson at Gateshead or Luke James would fit the bill (latter is wishful thinking considering he's still under contract)
