I suspect our retained list will be out in the middle of next week, most of which will be of interest to NL sides.

We've got rid of most of our title winning side, but I can imagine Billy Knott, Paul Farman, Elliott Whitehouse and Nathan Arnold all being available in one guise or another.

Mangan is shite yet it wouldnt surprise me if we took him as he’s friends with our manager. In fact he seems to be friends with every manager in the game. I’d be furious if we sign him
I think he played a huge role for us off the pitch this season. He's a massive character to have in the squad, and helped gel everyone together. I don't think his influence should be underestimated.

I can’t imagine that many Wrexham fans will share this view, but I wouldn’t mind Mangan back. I think he still has something to offer and as long as his legs aren’t gone and he’s got over his injury issues, he could be handy in a front 3. He’s a similar player to Holroyd I think, in that he works his socks off, is a battler and can finish.

Paxman - Really not quite sure why hes been re-signed. He's had 2 seasons to prove himself, but hes done nothing to deserve a 3rd season at this level
Coker - signed after being released by Palace
Phillips - signed after being released by Palace
De Havilland - signed after being released by Wycombe

We’ve offered contracts to Chris Smalley and Stephen O’Halloran and held ‘positive’ talks with Jason Oswell.

Michael Clarke, Harry Winter, George West and Harry Brazel have gone.

I’m glad Smalley has been offered something - he was our best defender this season - November onwards he was pretty faultless.

O’Halloran is top professional but I was disappointed he came back and i’m Disappointed he’s been offered another contract. He’s bang average at NLN level unless he’s in a three man defence. I’m hoping that’s the plan for next season and he’s being kept as back-up for a new left-sided defender and Duxbury at left wing-back.

Only one that can perhaps count themselves unlucky to be released is Harry Winter. He finished the season very well but overall his county career was underwhelming and Gannon obviously prefers the experience and calmness of turnbull who when he got up to match fitness was pretty good.

mangan is so funny around the club that he was selected to compare the end of season awards and charity auction at which he was hilaious at one point he was auctioning off some kind of seat but could not get anyone to demo it.... he got frustrated and came out with: ' i will sit on it my f*****g self then its what i do every saturday anyway' ... his comedy timing was perfect, it was really funny .

Oyeleke is the sort of player we need to sign - But I reckon he will probably go a league higher.

He's another young player who didn't do alot at Brentford and Exeter, but played alot of games down here and shown he is a decent lower leagues player.

That's 4 of our first choice 11 gone already, and considering Ward was on loan you can make that 5. While I expected it after two good years (I thought we did well to keep pretty much everyone last summer), it is worrying as it won't be easy to replace them.

I actually think getting in the playoff next season is going to be much harder than it was this season.

Agreed completely. Both massive losses, particular Oyeleke who will probably deservedly make the step up to league 2. Hope Waddock has something up his sleeve.

Rendell and Gallagher are staying - given the players we have lost, having those two signed up is huge.

I liked Oyeleke when we had him. He spent around 2 months being part of the starting lineup and looked pretty good. Then, for no apparent reason, he was frozen out of the squad for the rest of the season only to be released. Very odd.

Glad he did well at Aldershot and fully expect he can cut it in L2.

Our full retained list has been released.

Goalkeepers: Nathan Ashmore, Jonathan Miles

Defenders: Sam Magri, Lawrie Wilson, Dave Winfield, Kenny Clark, Chris Bush

Midfielders: Jack Powell, Jack Payne, Andy Drury, Dean Rance, Luke Coulson, Corey Whitely, Sean Shields, Myles Weston

Attackers: Danny Kedwell, Darren McQueen

Bagasan Graham and Danny Mills are on contract but have been made available for transfer. Aaron McLean has retired and is focusing on just coaching now. He'll main a part of our backroom team.

Released: Jack Connors, Marvin McCoy, Anthony Cook, Febian Brandy along with youth graduates Ollie Bouncing and Karn Miller-Neave.

Good basis of a side there. Think we need a full back, one or two strikers and maybe another central defender.

Pretty much as expected, although McCoy & Connor was a surprise.

2 strikers, decent wing back and pacy box to box goalscoring midfielder required IMHO.

Oyekele was absolute class in both games against us this season. Annoyingly as much as I love to bandy around the idea that we're a massive club in a tinpot league, we've probably got little chance of tempting him here.

Massive loss for Aldershot you'd have to assume

Bit surprised we haven’t offered Henry Jones a contract. Looked a good player to me. Massive void to fill now the loan players have gone back

Yep huge loss, our player of the season. Can only assume he’s making the step up, would be disappointed if he joined another NL side. I’m surprised you thought he had a good game against you at your place, it was probably his worst game of the season by a mile!!

In other news, Kellerman has joined St Mirren.

I hope we get Jones, he's a quality player.
Same, would be a good addition. Jason Taylor was a strong midfielder for Eastleigh a few seasons ago. Not sure what’s happened to him since, but he has plenty of football league experience.

Steve - i liked Taylor, he adds a bit of bite and leadership. Obviously legs have gone a bit but always did well for us. Mainly used a sub to try and see the game out.

Regarding Jones, i can only think he hasn't been offered a contract as he's a very similar player to Hardy. They're both a bit lightweight but technically superb. I would of kept him but i don't think Challinor was ever really keen on him.

Yeah I think Taylor would still be a good signing with his physicality, leadership and experience. All depends on wages I guess.

I think we need to steer clear of lightweight players as much as possible, but one or two could be fine if they’re technically gifted and creative.

We don't anounce a retained list. Is that unusual at this level?

We do it differently as usual. This is what our chairman's son posted on the forum earlier

The biggest issue in understanding here is about what a retained list is. People’s opinion of what it is / should be is not the same of what it actually is.

A retained list is something that gets sent to the FA by ALL clubs, it is well defined by the football authorities and is required under ‘the rules’.

There are a number of parameters around the status of players on that list, sometimes players are on the list list because a club is offering a contract, in other cases it’s to tie a player into clauses, like options. It can also be that the player is under 24 and is required to ensure solidarity payment. It can also be the case that it is the intention of the club to register the player non-contract.

For the record, we do most things exactly the same as other clubs, in some cases other clubs follow our lead....eventually.

Currently, the players on the retained list are players we are engaging with and have not released (that’s why they are on the retained list). This is no different to, for instance, Ebbsfleet’s retained list.

I hope I have provided some clarity around this for you.
