We've announced ours which will be in Ireland in early July. The games are:

July 9th: Portmarnock AFC (United Churches Lg Div 2)
July 10th: Longford Town (Airtricity Lg Div 1)
July 11th: UCD (Airtricity Lg Div 1)

Definitely different from previous seasons which were Austria, Spain and then Portugal. This appears closer to the approach taken on the Austrian tour rather than the Spain and Portuguese tours.

Based on his comments and vague recollection from other teams' fans Ireland is the normal destination for Karl Robinson's teams. Have I got that right?

Is your team planning a tour?

Edit: We apparently have a home pre-season friendly with Leeds as well.

No tour being planned as far as I know, but our pre season usual pattern - 6 days warm weather training in Tenerife, friendlies against local teams who aren't in the same division (expecting Bury and/or Oldham to feature this year). Other usual suspects are Fylde, Curzon Ashton, Droylesden, Stockport. Might get a home friendly against a local-ish prem/champ club - Hudders/Everton/Stoke/Leeds/Middlesbro

Probably not Burnley this year, assume they'll have Europa League commitments.

I think MOTD mentioned it is late July that Burnley start their Ropey Lg campaign.

We will play the normal uninspiring bunch of Faversham, Dover, Bromley, Tonbridge etc.
We will then have a 'glamour' tie against the likes of Palarse or Ipswich.
I'm getting a little moist just thinking about it.

We are going to Holland, which is a surprise. Last year at the last minute two local Mayors said we could not play in front of a crowd, so we played in Germany and a behind closed doors game. As apparently a rampaging lot that the local constabulary cannot handle, we have announced no games. Which rather makes you wonder why we are going?

We haven't got a manager yet, or announced our retained list. Never mind a pre season tour.:err:

We've already had 5 players in for talks. We've also got 3 young lads in on trial with a view to becoming part of our u23 development squad.

This trying to get a good chunk of transfer business done early is certainly a change after last season.

Not a tour, but we have announced our first friendly. 28th July at the fragrant and scenic Prenton Park, Tranmere. Woop-ti-doo!

It should be the same for most clubs. They have no choice - the transfer window closes at the start of August rather than the end. Although in reality it doesn’t. Players can be signed “with a view...” until the end of August, which doesn’t really change anything. A loophole that was used to great effect by ourselves once upon a time.

In addition to our tour and apparently Leeds (still not confirmed), we have Oxford City/Hampton & R on the same day as well as Aldershot and MK Dons away.

It seems the players will be busy this preseason. I assume the following will be the final list:

July 9th - Portmarnock AFC
July 10th - Longford Town
July 11th - UCD
July 14th - Oxford City
July 14th - Hampton & Richmond
July 17th - Aldershot
July 18th - Hungerford
July 21st - Crystal Palace (Home)
July 24th - Leeds Utd (Home)
July 27th - MK Dons

Games away unless stated.

Luton Town pre-season schedule:

Fri 6 Jul: Hitchin Town (A)
**Training camp Slovenia**
Tue 17 Jul: Oxford City (A)
Sat 21 Jul: St Albans City (A)
Wed 25 Jul: Norwich City (H)
Sat 28 Jul: Notts County (H)
Tue 31 Jul: Bedford Town (A)

The Hitchin game is a traditional and popular one for Luton Town fans. Annoyingly, due to the kick off time, I'm probably unable to get there.

Its being marketed as a first team fixture, but there's no chance that the Bedford game will be more than a development game, just a few days before the start of the season.

Re the Notts game, I'd say that's ideal preparation just a week before the season starts, for both teams.

Do you have a development squad? Or will the squad be packed out with youth team players? Or will you just have a massive 1st team squad?

No. I reckon you'll win the opening-day injury list award too.

As things stand today we have a squad of 29 pros, but of those five are first year pros, five are second year pros and one is a third year, with less than 10 appearances in the League between the lot of them. I suspect there may also be a handful of triallists and a couple of additional signings to bolster that number.

None at home either so I expect at least one to be added.

Also what level are Meridian Sports? It sounds like a Sports Centre.

Tier 9 of the pyramid apparently and yes, it does sound like a sports centre.

Eased to a 3-0 win at Stalybridge last Friday, with Andrew, Inman and Rathbone scoring.

Now the lads are in Tenerife for what this year may be slightly-less-warm-than-at-home-weather training...

We beat AFC Portmarnock 1-0 last night with over 500 of ours there to watch it. Play Longford Town tonight.
