Any of you got any interesting friendlies lined up over the coming weeks? So far we have games in England against Stocksbridge Park Steels, Lincoln City, and Northampton Town. 10 days in Portugal from 1st July, rumoured to be playing Shrewsbury but nothing confirmed as of yet. Then from 17th-22nd July out to Germany to play VFB Lubek and Holstein Kiel, sadly won't be able to make it out there as I'm emmigrating to Australia around the same time. Expect well have a home friendly against some mid table Premier League side the week before the season kicks off.

Otherwise pretty standard. Stalybridge Celtic and Sheff Utd lined up.

A community game against a local amateur side (do it every year to swell their coffers and is always a good day), all the usual local sides (Bath City, Yeovil, Cheltenham, Torquay etc) plus Tampa Bay Rowdies and Derby County on tour in the US, finishing with Crystal Palace at home, I think.

We haven’t really arranged much either. Strange.
We’ve got Norwich at home a week before the season (we played them in pre season 2018 too), but apart from a behind closed doors game v Maritimo in Portimao we haven’t organised anything bar a few non league sides.

I dare say a lot of teams may be reporting back tomorrow?

I wonder if Mr Brabin will be in attendance.

Southampton at home, Cork away, the rest just local games. Dull as fuck.

Still waiting for them to confirm who we're playing in the second home game.

If I can be bothered then I might do AFC Flyde & Fleetwood as i've never been, always try to go to the Bamber Bridge one as well.

Yep sounds thrilling that lot mate. Friendlies are horrendous either way I always just hope for a good game abroad, ones in this country are a no go.

Derby out in the States and Forest Green are the only ones I’m aware of. Going to go to Forest Green to tick the ground off, can get a train straight from work so will just go and have a few drinks. Not sure if I’ll stay long though, pre-season games don’t interest me in the slightest.

Gutsy move on the moving to Australia fella, hope it works out for you, got a cousin out there who fucking loves it.

On topic, pricing up the German trip just to fall in line with every c*** of ours on twitter that has become a real ale drinking germophile.....

Strangely we've pencilled a game in mid August against Luton, odd time to play a friendly against lower league fodder....

Nah, we’re heading out to Orlando so I could’ve done it on the cheap as my family have an apartment out there but I’ve been so many times from when I was younger it doesn’t really interest me. I would’ve considered it if it was Vegas or even New York.

And I suppose any time you want to see a Mickey Mouse club you only have to look across your city at Bristol Rovers....

VfL Bochum just announced so our pre-season looks like this so far.

3rd July - Stalybridge Celtic (a)
17th July - VfL Bochum (a)
20th July - Arminia Bielefeld (a)
27th July - Sheff Utd (h)

Would expect at least another one inbetween Stalybridge and Bochum. Should see us in decent shape for the start of the season.

Played Stalybridge Celtic last night. Gave 21 players a run out and won 5-0 with goals from Mowatt, Green, Styles and Woodrow x2.

Squad going on a training camp to France where they’ll play Toulon in a friendly before we go play a couple of matches in Germany.

We've got a pre-season friendly in Portugal.

Club have decided to up our corporate game and are offering a 2-day package trip which includes seeing the players train etc and then taking in the game.

Unfortunately the club have also decided that the people of Luton can afford £1500 for a 2-day holiday, not including flights. Not often I say this but you can fucking do one LTFC.

I thought it did include flights, but I think you're right. How anyone can justify that is beyond me. I did 7 flights a couple of years ago to/from UK to Australia and amongst it. It cost me £1100.

Anyway, match one of our pre-season schedule today, which seems to be a bit quieter than normal - only 5 games arranged. Up against Welwyn Garden City (A) who are now six divisions below us this season in Tier 8 / Step 4.

I know these games are meaningless, but I don't really see what a game like that does to prepare our side.

Today - Welwyn Garden City (A) - Step 4
Next Saturday - Bedford Town (A) - Step 3
Tue 16/7 - Basingstoke Town (A) - Step 4
Wed 24/7 - Maritimo (N) - Portuguese Liga
Sat 27/7 - Norwich City (H) - PL

Pre-season opened for us today with our annual community / charity game against a local team. Always a decent event and money raised for the respective local team and various charities.
Unfortunately, City weren't particularly into the 'charitable' spirit.

Erm........

Beat Chester 7-1 but had all our first team and best kids playing so it was a mismatch. Garner got a second half hat trick.
