Imaginative title thread !!!

Hmmmm, what to make of this game then.
Can't profess to of noticed Oldham much this season, maybe because they look to of been steady eddie .
Sat handily placed with a game in hand and plus 4 goal difference. So that's a reasonable start.

From our point of view i can't help but be negative ( sorry Vale fans ). But obviously Miller is banned , would he of played anyway ? And Pope is practically on one leg.
Just visions of a frustrated and isolated Pope as we lump it up to him all game.

Clearly Aspin is under huge pressure, lost it with the Radio presenter, lost it with the fans at Grimsby and compounded by the disgrace against Lincoln.
My fear is we set out for 0-0 again and come unstuck with no attacking threat in the side.

Sadly 2-0 with maybe 500 Vale, usually about 8 of us would be going on train for this and a few sherbets in Manchester. Only 2 are bothering which speaks volumes.

Any normal team will have a massive reaction after last week but this is Vale isn't it and we are away.

After shipping six I can only see Aspo being negative again and inviting unnecessary pressure despite the fact in open play we were generally comfortable. We need some kind of result big time, even a draw to stop the rot of the past three games. If Pope doesn't make it we will struggle for sure, although we did score twice without him I guess! Oyeleke still out is a mega loss as we haven't a single point without him but on the positive Gibbons and Joyce available so some bodies coming back.

Just need to do the basics and defend set pieces, hopefully last week was a one off as we have been ok defending them and it came a bit out of the blue, and take advantage of our own set pieces (currently the best set piece side in the league in terms of goals scored)

I just don't trust Vale away so probably a powder puff defeat again on the road. Just show some pride and fight Vale! Lose this Aspin surely will be on thin ice.

I like your confidence ian but I’m not to sure we haven’t got a great home record and normally if a team has had a bad result the week before they play us they get something out of the game that said I’m expecting a tough game but think we will win 2-1 or 3-1

No chance of anything other than a defeat with the injuries and suspension. Not that it matters, because will will set up not to lose and then ship the usual 2 or 3.

Aspin out.

Thinking about this, in our horror run away from home in 2018, I only recall Wycombe as the time we've set up not to lose and actually not lost... maybe wrong but FGR and Crewe we had a go, Grimsby we should of won 3 or 4 but missed a penalty and their keeper was unreal that day for example, the only results we've had away are by actually having a go!

FGR was absolutely shocking performance, last January.
This season was slightly better

Aspin already making noises about 'keeping it tight' in the press. Another 'to nil' defeat in store and another night wondering if we will ever try to win an away match ever again.

I watched the highlights of the 1-0 home win over Oldham in 2014, in the January of our first season back in League One. We were excellent, Pope in his prime, Gary Roberts and Chris Lines in midfield, Jennison Myrie-Williams on the wing, 6000 inside Vale Park on a Saturday in January. We are a shadow of that club from just 4 and a half years ago. It's sad.

Roberts had left before promotion season was actually Shuker in the middle and possibly Lofty.

That was the game where Dickos Mum passed away just before and he played like a man possessed and we got behind him (although the referee wasn’t as keen on a
Wound up Dicko!)

Good times. Miss those Adams days.

Seems too long ago. I guess we pulled ourselves out the shit before then to get back to that level only hope is we can do it again!

If I hadn't already brought a ticket for this game 2 weeks ago then I would have gone watched kisgrove away at hartlepool instead in the fa cup like a few vale fans seem to be doing. As for the game we can't score so the best we can hope for is nil nil but probably be a 1 or 2 nil loss.

Anybody who watches vale at the moment are going through loyalty and routine there not going through entertainment or enyoyment of the match.

Uber depressing, dread Saturdays (and some Tuesdays) now, wake up inevitable Vale loss to ruin and frustrate the weekend. Used to count down the days to game days. Long gone.

We’ve all been through it, multiple times.

There is nearly always light at the end of the tunnel. Sack the legend Aspo, win a few, you’ll feel a bit better. It’s that simple

Bloody hell. Dangling that carrot that will likely be taken from us in the second half with some unexpected hope. Sounds like we’ve matched them first half, possibly finally getting some of that bad luck with referees finally evening out though.

Come on Vale keep going!

Unexpected but welcome win, but what would we do without penalties?

Only gained three points from penalties haven’t we? Set piece specialists going forward at least.

See this is the weirdness with us, conceed six then days later put in a superb defensive display. First points without Manny.

Shocked we got anything but hopefully the confidence will come back and along with the key players still to return such as Miller, Manny and Monty hopefully we can get enough to keep us out of trouble.

Stevenage be tough, they’ve had to play a long period with ten men today and Miller back from his ban hopefully we can get a point there. Now six points better off than we was at this point last season so the curve is better.

Totally unexpected , much relief.
As previously said I didn't go , hence the win.
At least Aspin is a genuine person if nothing else, says we were lucky today and doesn't come out with usual bile or excuses most managers do .

Two very poor teams on show today enjoy your win Vale fans it wasn’t even a smash and grab by you we didn’t create much but we should of had a penalty A draw would probably been a fair result

Just seen the highlights. How did we not score after Legge hit the bar! Great reaction stop that.

Penalty was absolutely stupid to give away! Clarke saved us with his performances in 2003 from relegation and he’s probably helped us out there too with that! Hannant is chasing a lost cause there and not likely to do anything even if he does catch it.

even Aspin said we were fortunate today

He said we were fortunate with a corner but deserved the luck after recent years rather than overall but sounded like an even game, I guess it was the perfect away performance, took the chance and defending like Trojans. Maybe we will learn from that finally after some painful months on the road.

Absolutely bizarre the ball was practically out for a goal kick.
How Oldham didn't get one only the ref knows why. Rode our luck with a weakened team so can't grumble.

Truly stupid from Clarke though
