It’s a little bit of a shame this game doesn’t carry the same gravitas it maybe did 10-12 years ago, but it’s still a mightily important one for us.

The departure of Scholes could work for or against us, with Oldham not having a lot to play for they may just fold, or could come out blazing trying to get new contracts.

If we want to keep the pressure on the teams around us a win will go a long way towards our rapidly improving away form, though with our largest away following for at least 5 years expected, there’ll be a different feel to the usual away games.

You’d have to fancy Tranmere in this one with all the stuff going on behind the scenes at Ice station Zebra.
Anybody know who’ll be in charge of Oldham for this fixture yet?

We shouldn’t of binned him when we did
I, for one, have never been able to understand Oldham`s fans near hysterical hatred of Moore considering he kept them one one season against the odds. The abuse he used to get from Latics fans when he was our manager was amongst the worse I have ever heard at any player/manager, even worse than the stick we used to give Sean Thornton.

Did he not nearly get Oldham in the playoffs the following season as well?

The only time I've properly lost my temper at football was at a fan who booed at full time when we'd won under Moore. I was only 19, bless my cotton socks.

Shame. Would have about 2500 there today. Probably be about half that for the rearranged game.

Best possible result Oldham could have hoped for. Not sure why they had the sprinklers on all night mind.
