Another month down, October was another good month for us despite some tough fixtures. The next couple of months look alot easier on paper but form can turn so quickly in this league.

Port Vale (H) Artel got it wrong last season in the games Vs Vale so kind of owes the fans one here. With the team we've got this season and having a good rest since our last game, for once I'm fairly confident. WIN

Everton U21's (h) meh couldn't care less, our record is poor in this LOSS

Accrington Stanley FAC (A) will be a tight game but I think we need might narrowly lose LOSS

Northampton (A) they've picked up in recent weeks, so looks a tougher game now, our record isn't great there either. But were pretty good away from home especially in that gold kit DRAW

Morecambe (H) surely this can't be anything other than home win, top Vs bottom currently, but this league can throw up strange results. I think we will win but probably not as comfortably as everyone will expect. WIN

FGR (A) re arranged game. Going to be tough, going here on a Tuesday night. Our away form is decent but I've got a feeling this could be a narrow loss. Should be a decent game though. LOSS

Another month unbeaten in the league and we would probably stay top, with alot of teams around us playing each other. Out of the cup though which would be a shame.

Crewe - usually get something at Gresty Road and with the Bradford performance in mind should be confident. Owe us a performance after letting the big following at Macc down. High press inspired DRAW

MK Dons (FA Cup) - they are a league above but massively struggling, DRAW

Newcastle U21 (Leasing) - already through but even our reserves should have enough WIN

Carlisle - Should be looking to win this as they nose dive down the league, always hard to tell how bad they are as their fans are the most negative and would be depressive even if 10 points clear at the top. WIN

Scunthorpe - never get anything against these, despite being poor this season this will probably be one of our rare defeats Loss

4 points from 3 games would continue the steady progress and take us past the 25 point mark heading into the always manic December.

Vale - We'll go into this game as heavy favourites and we really need to beat sides outside the Top 7 like these at home if we want promotion. But Artell has set us up wrong in all four games he's managed us against Vale, even the one he actually won! He was far too cagey and defensive in both games last season and we got deservedly doubled. As he's a man who learns from his mistakes, I believe he'll set us up to attack on Saturday, and if we keep playing our natural game like we have been doing, we should run out worthy winners. Let's hope we don't give them a one goal headstart though else we're up against 11 behind the ball for the rest of the day. - WIN

Don't care about the U21 bollocks.

Accrington - Think both sides will take this game seriously. I would rather lose than have a replay. But I think Accrington are very defensively suspect and are struggling to take their chances this season. With our confidence high I believe we'll get a good result here. - WIN

Northampton - Bogey ground. Think we've only won once at Sixfields since it opened. We've had a fair few tonkings down there as well, Keith Curle always seems to get the better of us and they've really picked up form too. Wouldn't surprise me if Vadaine Oliver scores too. I expect these to be a Top 7 side by April and I can see our run ending here. - LOSS

Morecambe - No chance of Shaun Miller playing due to the terms of his loan agreement and Ajay Leitch-Smith is still crocked since he went off injured against us in January. So they'll be severely depleted. I can see another 6-0 happening again if we don't underestimate them. The worst thing about that 6-0 last year was we never got out of second gear and even Alex Nicholls scored twice. This is the side I think will be relegated in April (sadly) so we need to really show professionalism here and put them to the sword. - WIN

Forest Green - Tuesday Night, it's gonna be baltic and they're very good at home. I see this as a loss in the making. Hopefully if we've thumped beleaguered Morecambe a few days before though I'll change my mind. - LOSS

After Northampton we have a lovely run of fixtures (bar Forest Green now that's been rearranged for this month) so even if we were to lose to Vale and Northampton, I wouldn't be too concerned, as long as that Morecambe game is won.

Hopefully a full house in November now we seem to have our mojo back.

Walsall and Mansfield at home should be 6 points - although the Stags are blowing hot and cold lately

Away at Salford 3 points

I’d like a FA Cup win but don’t really care either way, so the yokel Robins can have that one.

Already out of the Winky Wanky Cup so away at BRovers is meaningless.

Tougher month that it looks. Banana skins everywhere.

Port Vale (H) - Draw. This could go either way. They are much improved and after our 2 no-shows last season, I'm not taking anything for granted here. Artell needs to ensure he just lets the players play and gets them properly fired up. No excuse for a poor performance. Would like to think we should win, but in these games, the form book goes out the window. A cliche I know, but an accurate one.

Everton (H) - Win(pens). Hopefully we can win on penalties, collect the prize money and still go out if Burton beat Mansfield.

Accrington (A) - Lose. Can't remember the last time we showed up for an FA Cup game, the 2nd half against Rotherham aside. Haven't won an away fixture in this competition since 08-09 at Carlisle. Don't think that will change here.

Northampton (A) - Loss. Agree with the previous comments on this one. They are starting to win at home and show why they were a pre-season promotion favourite. We always struggle against them and at Sixfields. A loss to nil is my bet.

Morecambe (H) - Win. Absolutely no reason not to be winning this one. They'll park the bus from the get go, so we must get the first goal. Do that and I'm sure we'll win comfortably.

Morecambe (A) - Conor Wilkinson will be back, we’re a bit better away than we are at home and they’re probably the worst side in the division. 2-0 LOSS

BHA Yoof (H) - Would have been fun to watch Ajax vs. The Filth in the stands. Back to zero interest.

Maldon & Tiptree (H) - They won 16 straight games from the start of this season (until the mighty AFC Sudbury came to town), but we should still win this, right? Right...? 4-1 WIN... maybe.

Scunthorpe (H) - Continuing our soft run of fixtures. One slight problem: we never beat Scunny. Anywhere. Ever. Reckon we’ll escape with a 1-1 DRAW

Forest Green (H) - A fourth home game in a row and our first fixture against the cud chewers. Bit more manageable than Grimsby to Plymbury in 3 days. By far our most difficult fixture of the month, so we’ll probably WIN 2-1.

A relatively poor October ended well with wins over Stevenage and Crawley to give us a platform for what looks like an easier month on paper.

Walsall (H). Walsall are struggling and have lost their last 4 games. We should win this one. 2-0 win

Cheltenham (A). FA Cup Rnd 1. Worst draw we could get away at our bogey ground. We have to end this poor run at some stage, don't think we will though. 1-2 defeat

Salford City (A). No idea what to make of Salford, they seem pretty inconsistent. 1-1 Draw.

Mansfield Town (H). Mansfield seem to be slowly coming into their stride and have good attacking options. I'm going to this one so we won't win. 2-2 Draw.

Interestingly (or maybe not) the NTT20 podcast betting pod seems to think Crewe based on their XG etc are more like a mid-table side and are playing well above where they 'should' be.

I don't really buy it to be honest, I saw Crewe with my own eyes and they are definitely contenders this season - unless their squad gets absolutely pillaged in January.

Isn't it FGR that are pretty much relegation material based on that though? Just extremely clinical!

Funnily enough they mentioned about FGR that a few weeks ago they were also well above where they 'should' be, but based on recent XG form are now very high up and showing that by league form.

I don't really pay too much attention to that kind of thing but I know some people swear by it.

Oldham (A) - gonna say win, we’re in good shape at the minute
Chippenham (A) - bit of a fright but through to the 2nd round
Crewe (H) - Draw. Crewe started very well, we’re getting better at home, will be a good test.
Grimsby (H). Win. We’re going up.

Well I was way too optimistic in October predicting 2 points. As a naturally optimistic guy when it comes to Carlisle United it’s going to be difficult but I will try to be a bit more realistic with this months expectations. Here goes...

Macclesfield (H): LOSE 1-0
After Pressley’s “amazing“ performance at Orient, I Think there might be a hangover from all the celebrations after such a historic result.

Dulwich Hamlet (A) FA Cup: LOSE 2-0
We are the perfect team for an upset. Gutless, weak, plenty of ballers who think they can play but can’t battle when things are tough. BBC know this which is why they’ll be there. National humiliation.

Morecambe (A) That trophy: Couldn’t give a fuck.

Port Vale (A): DRAW 0-0
May be being too optimistic here, but come on... Richie Bennett is going to miss 5 tap ins in a dominant but toothless Port Vale performance.

Cambridge (H): DRAW 1-1
This fixture is always a draw.

Shit I’ve done it again! As I did in October, 2 points prediction. I can’t control my optimism.

Carlisle (A) - WIN - They're down in the dumps if hellogregory is anything to go by. Sounds a good time to play them.

Kingstonian (H) - WIN - They'll be up for it but surely we will win this one.

Shrewsbury (A) - EFL Trophy - Don't care.

Mansfield (H) - LOSS - They've got a good team on paper. Maynard tore us apart when he was with Bury last season.

Salford (A) - LOSS - Should be a big crowd. Think they'll beat us though.

FGR (H) - The pessimist in me says this is where the wheels come off, especially given our record against them. I can't bring myself to surrender to defeat though so 1-1.

Swindon (H) - FA Cup - They've got to beat us at Whaddon Road at some point. I don't think it's at this point though. 2-0.

Exeter (A) - They're flying, as are we. Whilst our away record is now decent, we're due a pasting. 0-3.

Colchester (H) - We're fucking mustard at Whaddon Road, and they won't have Harry Pell to wind us up. 3-1.

The toughest is Saturday - I don't expect anything at Exeter so there's nothing to be concerned about, but there's a lot riding on this week's game. God knows we're due one over FGR.

We have an off day every now and again. Sometimes we look like a Championship team (Plymouth/Carlisle) and other days (Grimsby/Cambridge) we look like we've just staggered out of the boozer.
Like all L2 sides we are nothing if not inconsistent.

And we used our surprise win against you as a springboard to our terrific return of one point and one goal from the following four games.

Exeter City (H) draw:
Still need to get bodies back from injury. Though, Connolly is set to return for this one.

Shrewsbury (A) FA Cup - loss:
Would be nice to have a cup run, but I can’t say I’m bothered about it. Getting out of League 2 at the first attempt is the priority.

Colchester Utd (A) They’re fairly strong at home, but we’re not too shabby away from home, either. Close affair, but I think we’ll edge it. WIN

Plymouth (A) We never play well in that part of the country. Exeter, Torquay and Plymouth etc. Couldn’t tell you the last time we picked up maximum points in the SW. LOSS

Very tough month, but I think I’m being overly pessimistic due to our ever-growing injury list. If we get bodies back quicker than expected then it could change the outlook dramatically.

Cheltenham (A) - Have a decent record in these games, both sides in form this time can see it being close. Would definitely take a point. DRAW

Billericay (H) - FA Cup - Should win but these are always a banana skin, we're at home though which should help. WIN

Plymouth (H) - Expect them to come on strong as the season progresses, Lowe is a quality manager and they have a strong looking side. Bury deservedly beat us at TNL last year so Plymouth will fancy doing the same. They aren't properly gelled yet though so think we can get something. DRAW

Leyton Orient (A) - Should be beating these cockney upstarts tbh, they're finding life tough having just come out of non league. WIN

Crewe (H) - Another tough game, they are a quality footballing side so it should be a good watch. Our 130 year celebration will be rearranged for this game so hopefully we produce a performance. More confident now it's on a Tuesday. DRAW

So 6/12 points, not brilliant but a respectable effort given our fixtures. Hopefully we can pick up an extra win in one of those tough games.
