I thought I would get this one going early, as it is a big game for both clubs.

We are a much improved side since the arrival of Perkins, Pringle and Morris in the January window, both as an attacking force and defensively, as we don't turn over possession in midfield as often as we were earlier in the season. We kept a clean sheet away from home on Saturday for the first time in weeks, and the days of conceding bucket loads of goals away from home are hopefully behind us.

This is our game in hand and victory would leave us three points off the play off positions with thirteen games to play, and surely right in the promotion mix, despite some people believing the top seven positions have already been decided.

Vale seem to have major problems on and off the pitch, so theoretically this is a good time to play them. Then again, it would not surprise me if Pope has been saving up a game against Tranmere to score his 100th Vale goal.

Pope is unlikely to score. Personally I'd much rather we try Turner upfront. We just dont seem able to score at the moment. Askey is setting up similar to Aspin, so we are scrapping for crumbs. There are 4 or 5 from saturdays team that Im hoping dont play, but you just know they will.

Askey out

Our sole problem is scoring.
Weirdly despite the 6 Lincoln put up us we are in the top 10 for defence.
Think conceded about the same as Bury who are 2nd.
I'm not going to Google it but I'd estimate we've had 10-15 times where we have failed to score

My first visit to Vale Park was back in 1980 when the Chamberlain brothers tore us apart as Vale ran out easy 5-1 winners. Despite this Vale Park remains one of my favourite venues in this league.
Was gutted when the Saturday game was called off because we had a session lined up in the Titanic brewery tap. Now driving down so will have to give that a miss.
Hope Port Vale stay up and results improve after tuesdays game. The football league can’t afford to lose clubs the size of Vale for the likes of Solihull and Salford.
Think this one will be a tight affair with whoever scores first winning the game.

Four points from the next two games (Cheltenham away to follow) are critical. Tranmere struggle away and we struggle at home so who blinks first this one.

We are creating chances under Askey which is the positive but the issue remains regardless of not scoring goals... that said the Morecambe keeper put in one of the best keeping performances I’ve seen since Chris Neal for Shrews against us at their place just before we signed him.

Surely luck has to change?

Think we will get a point here and the Cheltenham game will grow in importance.

Tranmere set up negatively like apparently they did yesterday they’ll possibly get a draw or nick a scabby 1-0... attacking us may be our best hope as we can get more space.

Wonder if Miller will come back in here? Harris didn’t offer a lot yesterday. Getting Manny back would be a boost but this might come too soon.

Times running out for us, a win here would be massive.

Askey's had a good record against Tranmere, hope his luck has run out for this one though!

Not sure myself it's about a change of luck.
No coincidence that teams at the top score late goals and have generally settled sides.
I'd say it's more to do with maybe 25 ish different players starting different games and also pure poor play .
Missing a penalty is not bad luck , it's a poor penalty simples.

This game is going to defy all logic and be a free flowing scintillating match which we narrowly win 4-0.

You wont get much free flowing anything on our pitch at the moment!

Our own keeper stated that it was unacceptable by EFL standards to have a pitch like that.
Yet nearly every other team beats us on it on their only time playing on it.
Also Newport is diabolical

Tends to suit physical teams like Colchester for example. It doesn't look bad from afar mind but bobbles all over it, that Grimsby wonder goal against us was a bloody bobble that sat it up for him.

Yet more utter horseshit deleted. To the usual suspects posting simply to troll other teams, knock it off right now. You want to troll other teams fans, go on Facebook or Twitter, keep it away from here.

We didn’t set up negatively. We controlled the second half and just didn’t want to throw caution to the wind and allow Cambridge to counter us.

We’ve also signed a couple mediocre footballers on free transfers..

Come on Vale, get a grip and beat the Woolly Backs. You've got to start winning soon. One point is not enough for you.

If Notts beat Newport (hopefully) and Morecambe get something at Oldham you'll be right in the shit. I am also hoping Cambridge can win at Cheltenham this evening.

Only issue with that is we need to find a way to score a goal first. Think our scoring record is 4 goals in the last 12 games or something like that. In fairness we came close against Morecambe in the first half but Tranmere are a hell of a lot better than them. If a miracle occurs and we get the opening goal tonight then I think we have a good shot at winning. If Tranmere do then forget it.

No home fans these days?

We’d have brought 1500+ on the Saturday. Probably 900-1200 for midweek.

A lot of people have just lost interest because of how the clubs been run for a long time now. Will be even worse next season whichever division we are in as I suspect season ticket sales are going to drop massively.

Shocked me that after recent performances, I predicted 3600 Saturday!

I think a few turned up for the protest. I know I did! Cant make it tonight however, but I hope we can alter our awful home form which is one home win in the last 12 games I think.

Awful home form vs awful away form.

Going to be an exhilarating 0-0 isn’t it.
