Big problem you have is you need to go up this season. Once the rot sets in you'll become Wtexham

And the bankrolled hobby club production line will never stop. All the time there are people willing to bend over and have their clubs become a plaything then its going to be even harder for ex league clubs to go back up

That's not guaranteed at all. Plenty of teams haven't gone back up this season but have within 3-5 seasons.

No Notts fan was predicting promotion this season after our disastrous disrupted pre season put us weeks behind eveyone else.

Its not guaranteed but it happens often

Do you really fancy 3-5 seasons here ?. 5000 people will only stomach Solihull at home for so long

I can think of half a dozen sides that didn't get back into the EFL at the first attempt but didn't do anywhere near a Wrexham.

I've never seen Solihull play so not sure what all the fuss is about, and for most people even if it's dreadful it's one game a season only.

I don't fancy 2 seasons here but it's very likely.

I agree with you Simon. New owners tend to spend more than ones reaching the end of their tenure and if they don't get success pretty quickly the enthusiasm for spending loads of money wanes pretty quickly.
Our last owner crashed and burned after two and a half seasons, one before lasted around five, supporters trust, about three, one before that two and one mental year with a non existent billionaire less than one full season. Common factor, they all ran out of money.
We've also got a parachute payment this year which tails off next year so it's pretty important that we go up this year.
Not sure we will, we have a great chance but we've gone under in a couple of big games this year that would have seen us become division pace setters rather than play-off hopefuls.

I think at some point Wrexham fans are going to have to trust in a sugar daddy owner again. It will mean some well meaning Trust members will have to relinquish power but as the National League becomes more and more D5, so it will end up needing owners to bankroll clubs wanting success. Wrexham are still one of the big clubs in the division with potential to comfortably get to D1 and so will have interest from wealthy potential owners.
We did the Trust thing and most were desperate to end it as we just didn't have the investment to run the club with any hope of doing more than treading water at the bottom end of D2.

This is it. We have stagnated because we don't have the financial clout to consistently compete at the top because of our ownership model (for all its laudable merits) an error in recruitment is all it takes to mean we have a shit season.

Tranmere, Luton, Lincoln etc all took a couple of seasons to find their feet. You just don't want to do a York or Stockport.

it's a double edged sword. Clubs should be sustainable but barring a great cup run or selling a couple of players for seven figure sums trusting in an owner with deep pockets and good intentions is pretty much the only way to go.
Get it wrong and it's Bury or very nearly us, get it right and it's Bournemouth.
What you don't want is a short term shit or bust owner who mortgages the club with loans rather than gifting their own cash to the club.

It's a shame they don't any of their money on their stadium and infrastructure. The worst i've been to in a long time.
They have spent a lot of money on their ground in the past couple of years. Are you saying that it still looks shit?

Yes, even with the new stands (which have a canopy for a roof which are tied to concrete blocks on the ground to stop them blowing away). The staffing and stewarding was appallingly bad when we played there, absolutely clueless.

Its simply a case of 'lets lob a load of money at the team while ensuring the ground complies with bare mininum requirements.

A temporary abomination held together with bicycle clips which could be taken down in a day. Looks shit, is shit

It reminds me a bit of some of the ground improvements we made at Underhill to ensure we met new Football League standards. They didn’t improve the ground aesthetically, nor did it make the match day experience for supporters any better either

We have put up two temporary stands with canopy roofs and 500-600 seats in each on the airport side and build a brand new stand on the club house side.
It holds 1300 in the bottom tier and has an 'executive area' but as someone has said here before looks like a quickly erected steel lego build, not too outstading.

On the note of our match you attended, I heard your fans behaved pretty daft, and not weeks later disgraced the club nationally. I know its only a handful of your six fingered cousins but as much as it sticks in the craw of Hartlepool and Yeovil fans that an ugly footballing side that has found new funding is doing well, that football league you hold onto likely doesnt miss you, and is likely glad that the 'racist derby' this weekend is confined outside the EFL.[/QUOTE]

Ooh, touched a nerve there! Our fans were absolutely fine at Solihull, there were complaints from them but they were totally understandable given the comical stewarding and general running of the event. You need to be very careful what you say regarding the other incident as you are being very presumptuous and accusatory when no charges have been made. You've fallen in the same trap as a lot of gullible people by believing the knee-jerk reaction reporting of the media and the bizarre comments from the other club.

Yet another scoreless match for us under the genius that is Peter Taylor, I would guess most of our fans are fed up with his boring defensive tactics. With Balanta out for a rumoured 3 months I can see us getting in a relegation battle if Taylor keeps his job.

Got to a point where I’ve given away games a miss for the first time in over decade, I really can’t waste my money on this brand of football.

I think we might see Tim Howard In charge by the end of the year.

Hold on was a gauntlet ever thrown down by anyone?

Good prediction mind, I hear a very impressive performance from the visitors.

Famous last words but I’m pretty confident against anyone at home. There’s more space on the big pitch for Boldewijn and Dennis/Thomas to exploit and we haven’t conceded there in the league since August.

Barrow hereby accept your challenge and reckon we'll score inside 15 minutes when we play at yours on the 16th....

You instigated the challenge. No guantlet was thrown down in Jacobs confident post.

However, you nailed it with the prediction. I hope you visited the bookmakers beforehand to cash in on this.
