Colchester will go up i reckon, destroyed Crewe who have done alright so far and we’re miles ahead of anyone we’ve played so far all be it not much to judge on yet.

Talking of Crewe must be some sort of record to record a win and a loss in the first four games by 6-0!

Notts County seem to be a mess at the moment... is it a slow burner that will click into gear. Pressure surely mounting on Nolan though.

Fair play to Morecambe finally getting running,

We're in a bit of a mess. The spine of that team is weak and there is nothing in the squad to change it. Loan market and /or a new manager beckons.
Bottom of the league and shipping goals.

I don't think he has been that bad this season, to be fair.

Anyway, I'll take that. Bossed the first and went in 1-0 up for the fourth consecutive match. Hung on for dear life in the second. MK Dons switching system completely changed the game. Simpson was a menace.
Simpson? A menace????

Didn't actually follow our game but flicking through the Twitter afterwards it looks like we missed a fair few easy chances and should have been out of sight before Cheltenham scored. Big missed opportunity by the looks of it.

Edit: ah shit only just noticed we missed a pen as well. Fuck.

Didn’t realise it was that bad. Trust Dixon to play OK and then do something like that (I still wouldn’t have him in the team. Down to the bare bones in defence now too.
Fucking hell that looks worse every time. Can Hendrie play LB?

I think so. Depends whether it’s him for Famewo who plays there because Davis has been very good there. Granted, Famewo and Whitemore weren’t great together tonight.

Pretty average from Mansfield who came up against a pretty average tranmere side.

Neither side deserved to win and a point was very fair, Mansfield missed 2 sitters towards the end and tranmere put in good crosses towards the end.

Hayden white could have seen a red for a wreckless challenge in the first half.

Had tranmere had their shooting boots on they would have won, flitcrofts negative tactics nearly cost us

Well we were pretty dreadful in the first half and Bury were very good. Second half they seemed to tire, fell back and couldn't keep up the pressing and we just laid siege to their area without having lots of clear chances. Penalty allegedly was clear but I couldn't tell from iPlayer (didn't rewind to look). The ball was hit hard but the Bury player was a fair way away and dived to block the ball so not like a 2-yard one you sometimes see where the defender can't get out of the way. Akinde rolls the penalty in, of course.

Shortly after Andrade makes a great run down the middle, keeper come out and collides with two defenders and Andrade, Freck picks the ball up and coolly slots it home. Eardley then goes off injured so we were playing with 10 and the ref somehow finds 7 mins of added time where we just about cling on. Definitely not the finished article yet and still lots of questions to be answered by the Cowleys as we keep getting overrun in midfield. Bostwick was poor and I think he should be in midfield, not defence. Might solve the midfield issue and make us stronger at the back.

It's the defence that's the issue... still think we'll be alright, Boldewijn looks utter class, and Hemmings and Dennis will see us fine... IF we sort the defence and add some steel to midfield.

Thoughts on us for the season ahead?

Quite gloomy at Bury these days as we always shoot ourselves in the foot, how do we compare to other sides you’ve seen at this level?

‘Negative tactics’ think ya on your own with that mate, he brought on two attacking players to try and win the match.

Bizarre comment.

I do understand the frustration with the draws though, but it’s been down to the players missing chances (Walker) or making daft mistakes (Logan) in our last two games.

Sadly I don’t think he would do us much of a job at centre back.

Nolan won’t last more than a couple of weeks, he’s gone. The decision to start tonight with the same midfield as was bullied into submission by Yeovil on Friday is completely inexplicable.

It’s such a shame because Boldewijn, Hemmings and Dennis all look bloody excellent. If we’d have stopped there, kept the same system and ethos as last season, all would be well. Instead Nolan has signed a menagerie of five foot fall playmakers, all of whom are just watching the other team merrily jog past them every time they get the ball. Add that to a defence that has lost its collective mind at being asked to pass the ball out from the back, and it is not looking good.

Not really, we were too pedestrian in midfield and much to careful to commit numbers to attacks when going down the wing. Seemed odd the midfield seemed overran when playing 5 in midfield.

Was hard for Davies tonight was evenly matched against mcnulty who had a good game.

Could do with winning at Macc though.

Adam we have scored 12 goals already this season. I’m all up for fair criticism but being negative is one thing we have not been once so far.

He brought on Rose and Butcher (two attacking minded players) in his last subs, not a defender or a defensive midfielder. He did get it wrong not taking Walker off though, Khan should have stayed on.

Couldn't believe he started with Hussin and Vaughan in the middle. I want Nolan to succeed but the centre halves and centre midfield is not going to work. As for Dan Jones, what has happened to him.
Centre half and gritty centre midfielder urgently needs to save the season even this early on.

From what I've seen so far this season, you'll have no problem .

I think that was some of the best football I've ever seen from a Colchester side. One touch passing at pace with some unreal movement off the ball, great counter attacking when needed and completely dominant throughout.

Should have been like this against Port Vale too if we could have put some of the chances away.
