It was Luke Imp who started this single matchday thread thing - I would have thought he would want to put those Conference ways behind him. Surely, each game justifies its own thread in the Football League, apart from maybe some Forest Green games...

Not not really, Forest Green have earnt the right to have a thread for each and every Football League game they play. Can we close this thread...?
I may have started the first thread (I'm assuming, I can't remember), but there was a thread/poll last season (is it still around or did it get lost when the forum went down?) and the outcome of that IIRC was that they'd be a bit of both.

It's been discussed, and they'll continue to be both. It's important to ensure that posters of clubs who aren't massively represented, or represented at all, on here (Accrington, Morecambe, Yeovil, Newport, Crawley, Colchester etc) have somewhere to post without talking to themselves in their own thread.

Top v bottom next week. Would be bloody typical that creepy get off the mark.

I watched the game and Creepy look like nailed on bottom 2 material, but tbf they did hit the bar and post so I reckon our win was somewhat a lucky one. Having said that, you lot are at home so unless you do a Coventry, I can't see you dropping any points.

£250k for Collins v all the fees that have been touted about this summer. Great business.

Cheers. Well done on your win today.

We are a totally different side this season, well drilled, fit and hard working. Hopefully we can put Crawley to the sword but this is Swindon so wouldn't amaze me if we lose.

Yes, before you turn shit again.

Similar to how you started last season, how did that one end up?

That was fucking last season you bitter pair of twerps.

What has happened to your team? Why are you so shit? All that money you got for one player seems to have gone elsewhere.

Grew into the game today I think, pretty slow start and not really much to report for much of the first half. Looked a bit like last season where we had the ball in our own half but there wouldnt be a great deal going on further up the pitch for us to pass our way through, movement wasnt great. Having said that we had a couple of decent chances, in particular a lovely bit of skill by Lee (are we seeing the beginning of an Alex Lawless like rehabilitation with him?!) to get a shot away that was well saved.

Got a bit of a scrappy goal to end the half and I think that gave us the confidence second half to go and win it, where I think we played a lot better. Cracking goal by Collins again, only had that one chance today but took it superbly, looks a fantastic striker to me.

Stand outs for me today where Stacey who got down the line well, Lee who was a deserved MoM for me and Sheehan whose delivery for the 3rd was superb. Rea was only the slightly shaky performance really, gave the ball away a little bit too often for me and gifted Colchester there one and only chance of note by inexplicably losing his man on a cross, bloody good save by Stech helped him out though.

Hylton still looks like Hylton which is good news for us as well, almost scored after a really good free kick routine.

Colchester really didnt offer anything to be honest and created next to nothing, difficult to tell if that was because we kept them at arms length defensivley or they just didnt have a lot up front, I suspect it might be the latter. Expected better from them really.

The Swindon I know always gets promoted from this league, so I'm sure history will repeat itself for you again this season.

After last season most fans feared we would go only one way, and that was down. Thankfully Mr Power has changed his ways and I think in David Flitcroft knows what he is doing at this level and the players we have signed are exactly what we need. Long may it last!

Wow Forest Green Rovers, what a comeback to win 4-3.

Only a team with true underdog spirit like them could do that and long may their vegan fairy tale continue!

Agree with most of that. Colchester who were tipped by many to finish in the promotion spots but you wouldn't tip them after that performance. They looked out of their depth especially second half. Felt we allowed them to dictate a little first half with their spoiling tactics but like you said the goal gave us confidence. Their keeper kept them in it and in the end we could really have got 5 or 6 today. Amazing what a bit of confidence does. Everybody wanted the ball second half and we flooded forward at will. 11 goals in our first two home games is quite a statement. However we all know we are capable of a bad performance (Barnet for example). I'm hoping we will grow with confidence this season and when everyone is fully fit we will be challenging for the auto spots.

Shit?! But we're only 3 points from the play offs and we ended last season 8 points from the play offs so we've obviously improved a colossal amount.

You're welcome.

Pretty much agree with this assessment too. Colchester looked pretty toothless and an average League 2 side. Not terrible, but not promotion material based on that performance.

I think all round we were very solid and on another day, that's another 5-0 job. Hylton did everything but score - it was like he'd never been away. Collins goal was quite special as I thought, as well as Sam Walker in the Colchester goal, it was going over the bar. Walker did well for them to keep the score down, but the save of the match was undoubtedly from Stech from point blank range.

So glad for Olly Lee. I've been a huge critic of his, but he's grafted and now he's seeing results. He had a good end to last season, which pretty much saved his Luton career. He's almost like a new signing, despite playing 80+ games for us now.

Great to get that one under our belts, naturally very pleased, especially as we came from behind. Our defence were embarrassing until half time, but the introduction of Iacovitti after the restart proved to be part of the answer. We made Yeovil look pretty awesome for the first half, but due to our own efforts after the break came out of the game with a deserved three points. Hopefully we can start putting more of our efforts to improving the positive aspects of our game, rather than shoring up our frailties.

Our game at Luton in 3 weeks looks like a big game already. I'm flying abroad which is annoying as Luton is one of my more local games.

Redeemed yourself there kid:dry:

Maybe a separate match thread for each game could be started by admin the day before each fixture. Surley even we would use it!

We were absolutely dreadful today from start to finish. Hopefully just a one off but that result will have brought a few Cov fans back down to earth!

It does but we have 2 pretty tricky away games before that at Mansfield and then Lincoln. Tough little run of fixtures that really and a good early test to see if we have the mettle for it this year.

And you never will be
Talk about bringing me back down to earth, after our terrific performance in our 1-3 defeat at Stevenage today I thought we were nailed on for promotion.
Now you've broken my spirit with that post.

Think Mansfield vs Luton already becomes the biggest game down here this season next weekend.

Easy win again for Luton, where Mansfield deserved a draw at Accrington (13 bloody games without a win against them). Dust doesn't settle for a while yet, Coventry lost to Newport, Mansfield lost to Accrington, the best managers in the worst lost to Exeter. I'm not confident of next weakend

We need to back it up next weekend though, because it's Field Mill and we never do well there. We need to find the consistency we couldn't find last season. The quality will go up a level. And it's Steve Evans who wants to beat us every single time whoever the side he's managing. I've just bought my ticket. I'm quietly confident.

In my opinion, we deserve to be top right now. One bad decision and/or we clear our lines in injury time v Barnet and were third.

You've a better side that us - especially upfront front, you should win

Why are you laughing at us in week 2 of the season?

We should get close to the 1000 ticket sales if not completely sell out.
