 Didn't quite mean it like that.

Also, I don't make a habit of trawling through Club Accounts either. I'm waiting to do into an audit...

In fact, I've just found the accounts and it shows nearly £4m cash being put in that season (via share purchase) and wages of circa £3.3m, which club staff, not just footballing staff.

If you go one step further and try and compare on a like for like basis using the pricing index (B of E) - £3.3m in 2011 is the equivalent to £4m now, which, I suspect, is about on par with the top of L2 today.

Cheers for that Luke, when I had the chance I was going to look into myself and you have saved me the pleasure.

Luke Imp: *mic drop*

Don’t be coy now we know the budget was probably double what you suggested ya little sneaky spireite :bg:

Wake up mate, the vast majority of EVERY club expenses is players wages if club wages were £3.3 m it’s almost certain to be £2m+ on players.

Well I've no idea, but I know I've never seen a CFC wage budget quoted as being above £2m, that's all I can tell you. Usually around 1.4-1.6m is the figures I've seen quoted. This stuff ought to be easily available information for every club really.

I would shocked if it wasn’t a much reduced budget with that surprise appointment . It’s very rare , if ever , that a club appoints and promotes from within and the same level of spending occurs .

As always with any appointment can essentially go one of two ways , with this type of appointment it’s usually more extreme in terms of success or failure .

The Chairman’s statement very strongly suggests back to back chokes from Mansfield . Spanishstag won’t want to hear it but when the Chairman basically states it also , well.......

Where is Spanishstag has he resurfaced on any thread yet ? Or still in hiding haha

In hiding for getting a prediction wrong ,i thought stags v fgr play off final i was wrong , have you thought of visiting a counsellor over your bereavment ,it seems you cant accept your sad loss ,as your still hanging around in your old haunts ,see a counsellor they will help you learn how to release your grief then you will be able to move on ,to the non league forum :ffs:

Let’s say we use the £1.6n figure, and the total bill is £3.3m - that would mean you are the only club in English professional football to spend more on the Kitman and tea lady than the actual players

I don't know where those figures have come from, how valid they are, why the arbitrary season of 2011 was picked or what have you but I can tell you one thing; she makes a banging cuppa tea

To be fair Chesterfield one thing I’m sure we can agree on is your club have been a shambles in recent years so anything is possible!

Absolutely, a total mess and if there's one thing I would definitely take with a dump truck of salt, it'd be the official books....!

From the official accounts.

I only chose 2010/11 because you referenced winning the league with that lower budget.

We won the league 2013/2014 too and our budget was stated as 1.5m that year. Of course that was before the mass sell-everything-not-nailed-down, in the off season after. Still bitter about that

Out of interest, and apologies if I've missed this as I've been skimming but how do you get to a figure of 3m for our budget? It just seems surprising because we don't appear to have a squad worthy of 3m in wages! Who are our top earners then and what are they on? I heard Walker was on 5k per week but haven't heard any other crazy figures quoted.

I’m purely going off the £2.5m mark directly from JR last season, and the fact we recruited well in the summer and couldn’t shift some Evans players (Anderson, Butcher etc)

Like I mentioned earlier in the thread there’s a foreign article with Carolyn in February where £2.5m is still quoted on players wages so maybe it’s still closer to that than £3m.

I don’t understand the significance you are trying to express?

Stringy asked where the 3m came from, you were saying most of it is from the Evans era. That article says the 6 months from June 17 to Dec 17 was 1.6m (obviously all wages not just players) so reads like around 3. 2m for season 17/18 if the next 6 months stayed the same, at a guess last season would be similar due to players you couldn't shift and recruited well(your words)

Thanks for the clarification.

I said 2.5m was quoted as a budget given to Steve Evans. No doubt our entire wage bill is over £3m but the discussion was more players wages.

Honestly I find it hard to believe it’s gone lower, and one thing I really want to stop is the ridiculous stop-overs at places like Northampton - get a grip.

Ironically the £3.2m is less than the Chesterfield figure brought up by Luke!!

This is some lge2 clubs wages (those that release decent accounts anyhow) from 2017 or 2018 if accounts were done, from priceoffootball on twitter. Obviously total wages not just playing budget. But shows how ridiculous wages are in football these days.

Basically the reason we didn’t go up is the radfords were taken in by a footballing fraud.

Knew it all along, it’s one of the few occasions I enjoyed being right

You enjoyed Mansfield bottling promotion?! Just to prove you were right? Bit odd, even if your early suspicions were correct.

Well I said all along he was poor, he choked when it mattered, didn’t have the big game mentality, made odd decisions, tailed off when it mattered.

Was meant to say it was one of the few times i wish I was wrong.

Irrespective David Flitcroft was a fraud

He’s poor when it matters, ie arse end of the season - but to be fair before Christmas we were playing brilliant football, probably the most impressive in the division.

Adding for balance :D

True, but promotion isn’t won in December, and nobody gives a fuck about how pretty the football is - promotion is won in April and May, when we lost 3 in a row when we ultimately needed 1 point to go up.

That were still in league 2 given we had about 6/7 chances of promotion last season is ridiculous
