About time.

Pleased we’ve made this decision but nervous about who we’ll next appoint.

Yeah I'm reserving judgement on whether it was the right thing to do until I see the next appointment, as usual there's a fairly uninspiring list of managers the bookies are listing. Russell Slade high on the list yet again.

As of today I'd say our likelihood of going down is actually higher than it was before we sacked Pressley. It all depends on who we replace him with.

Whoever we get will probably be clueless, play dull ineffective football and they will have fuck all money to spend anyway.

It might as well be Graham Westley.

Really? I think the worrying thing was that we’ve been getting worse under Pressley as the months go by. I think our chances of going down have got slightly lower now that we aren’t being managed by a tactically inept idiot. Now we have a chance to get a half decent manager. We might not, but at least there’s a chance.

Russell Slade is currently manager of Hereford FC in the National League North and is under pressure

We never appoint any of the bookies favorites so I wouldn't pay any attention to that garbage.

What we do need is a no nonsense manager and a shit loada money to throw around!!

So we can finally crush this fucking pub league once and for all.

We could do with Lionel Messi or Rakish Bingham as well while we’re at it.

I think many of our fans are putting too much emphasis on Pressley being the wrong manager as the reason why we're in our current predicament. Sure there's a lot of criticism of the board still, they're clearly the main reason we've been on the slide as a club, and the next appointment may well improve things if we make the right one, but while we still don't know who will take over it feels as if we're more likely to get worse than we are to improve.

Whoever does take over will have to work with Pressley's squad and won't have much opportunity to make changes so even a half decent manager may struggle unless they happen to have the same playing style as Pressley but are better at it.

Like I said before, despite what many of our fans seem to think, Pressley's not the worst manager we could have appointed and we're already being linked with managers who I think would be even worse.

We could have made better appointments than Pressley back in January but I don't think missing out on the playoffs was entirely down to him. Under Sheridan we started the season on mediocre form, though better than we had expected. Then had a spell of abysmal form, going five games without scoring, losing them all. Then hit a run of amazing form, winning five on the bounce. However we were dependent on three loanees, Yates, Sowerby and Nadesan who we knew we'd lose in January, and Sheridan knew the finances weren't there to replace them, so he walked with us in 4th place knowing he could still hail his time at Carlisle as a success and then criticised the board as he did.

We were actually 6th by the time Pressley took over, not 4th, and the transfer window was half over. Sure Pressley takes some of the blame for our form from then onward, but not all of it, some of it is the board's fault as our financial position is their long term responsibility some of it is Sheridan's fault, he put the squad together and without those loanees it was a squad lacking in cutting edge.

Results haven't been good this season and there isn't really much of a case you could have made for Pressley to keep his job, but this is just an opportunity to improve, many United fans have reacted as if an improvement in form is now pretty much guaranteed.

If it was true that he'd fallen out with most of the staff, then it was either back him and replace all of them, or sack him. The latter seems like the easier (and cheaper) option tbf, especially given the results.

Crazy really, after about 4 games in charge, major fuck up by their board it seems.

Will be announced later today apparently.

At least the board have acknowledged that they've made a mistake, but our squad was crying out for an experienced head just to guide us through to the end of the season, not a rookie who hasn't managed for 6 years.

We've just come back from Non League and as pointed out many times, alot of players will need to be moved on at some point, so we just need to make ourselves a bit harder to beat until the end of the season and have a clearout - We have 10+ players out of contract in May.

Fletcher was a total disaster, his interviews were pathetic and I've never seen someone lose a dressing room or crowd as quickly as he did. Rumours of him having a punch up on the training ground with our captain Josh Coulson, rumours of him not liking Danny Webb and then going to our board a week after being appointed and asking for his own backroom team - Even though this job was always one which you had to inherit the current backroom staff due to circumstances. Rumours of him not wanting to work on Sunday because he didn't want to, rumours of him never talking or engaging with anyone on a personal level and finally he apparently blamed our 21 year old back up goalkeeper for Sundays loss - apparently he should've saved both shots............................................

Away at Morecambe 2 weeks ago, we were shite - A shadow of the side that had just won 3 on the bounce, everyone knew something was up after that game, the turn in the players attitude was very alarming.

On Sunday we were pathetic, our worst ever result. The players did not give a shit, it will always be there in the back of your mind - did they do this on purpose to get him sacked?

Either way, I'm glad he's gone and the players have their wish.

I'd gamble on Paul Tisdale, but Ross Embleton will no doubt be put back in charge.

Do you worry a bit about player power in the dressing room if it is true about the players losing on purpose or are the likely ringleaders in the 10+ out of contract?

Wouldn't Tisdale want his own assistant/coaching staff?

Judging by Hereford`s performance against us on Tuesday night even the Connie North might not be his level
I bet he still made out that they were unlucky and played well, he used to come out with the same shit every week after every abject performance.

Personally I think its happened in football many times, players don't like the manager - Therefore don't try as hard, look shit and the poor results then follow.

The majority of players are of good character, 90% of them won us the league last season and despite us letting in sloppy goals, you can see how hard the players have been trying for Embleton and Webb - Which alone has earned us most of our points.
