When we got rid of Kewell there were only three managers I would have been interested in
Hurst, Ardley and Cotteril in that order. The latter hasn't really proved anything since we gave a promotion on his CV.

I guess it could have been wage demands from Hurst over Ardley but still happy with Ardley If he signs tomorrow.

My first thought was 'there's a blast from the past'... then I discovered he's only 26 and was playing in the Premier League as recently as 2016.

He played a season for us when he was 17 and still has a son in the town. Not sure if that's the only reason he was there yesterday or not.

I get that he's not exactly well-liked by the Yeovil fans, but one can't be too critical of the job he's done there. When Yeovil were relegated from League One it honestly looked as though they were only going in one direction, and that was back to non-league. He's managed to bring the club some stability and despite a recent poor run you did make a good start to the season that showed promise.

He's absolutely clueless. I'm not happy but others are furious, since the new contract was announced the backlash has intensified massively. I know of several supporters of over 40 years standing who have now announced they will no longer support the club.

Mine were Hurst, Bowyer, Ardley and long shot Heckingbottom. Happy enough with any of those, anybody else mentioned (and there have been about a dozen haha) and it’s a no from me. This has certainly dragged on longer than I thought it would with Snap Al involved . Hopefully tomorrow is the day , still too late to impact Saturday

Ardley would be a surprising choice. Notts are such a different setup to Wimbledon, and he was such a big part of that club that it’s impossible to judge whether he could do the same job he did there with us.

Anyway no point in speculating until it’s announced, feel sorry though for whatever poor sod gets it.

Ardley 1/7 this morning so looks like it’s done. As the end is nigh says, can he do it outside the Dons? Time will tell, but he’s an experienced manager with over 300 games at this level and L1, and to be positively carried into Meadow Lane shouldered high IMO considering Nolan, Brown and Mad Dog were all favourites at one point! Now, a nice welcome gift of Karl Henry from the chairman would be nice..

Yeah only obsessed in our Chairman:ffs:

Do any of the other Stags fans know this old codger personally? Can someone please have a word. It’s ever single thread, I can’t cope with his god awful spelling let alone the obsessed tripe he comes out with.

Prime example of little brother syndrome.
Its only the threads where you are struggling !so your right its quite a few

I’m guessing that’s a typo rather than a spelling mistake.

More Stags fans posting on this thread recently than Notts fans and we’re the ones after a new manager #standard

It’s Ardley, then.

On the face of it he’s a guy who has had good success and build a good structure over a long spell at a club with few resources and not a lot of money. We’re a club with a bit of money and decent resources who desperately need someone to put in a structure over a few years.

It makes sense, but life isn’t always that simple.

Much better than some of the names that were linked to the job IMO. Apparently first thing he did at AFCW was to sort out the back line, and logic says he'll do the same thing at Notts.

So was Ardley picked over Hurst or did Hurst turn it down, can’t remember where I read it, might’ve been someone on here or might have been on Twitter but someone saying Hurst had turned it down?

Our local press reported that we picked Ardley over Hurst, but they’ll have been briefed by the club so..

Hurst definitely had two interviews but entirely possible it broke down over wages or budget or whatever.

How do you know Hurst had two interviews?

Does it really matter? We haven’t even appointed anyone yet and more of the talk has been about Hurst and Nolan

I'm just interested. If you're not going to contribute anything of note, then yes please stop posting about it.

No, don’t think so.

Also I must of missed your awe inspiring contribution. If I find out whether your ex manager had a 2nd interview for the managers position i’ll make sure you are the first to know

One of those ‘I just do’ ones I’m afraid haha. Calderwood was the third one as far as I know.

It's a fucking L2 forum not the lead article in an issue of WSC. Why would I care whether or not some bellend who has been getting his knickers in a twist at any non-Notts fan following this story rates my input or not?

So there isn't actually anything concrete then? Like there wasn't any evidence he was at your match at the weekend. With all due respect, I'm sticking with my original opinion that Hurst was never really been in contention for this.

I don’t know who benefits from leaking it to the Nottingham Post if it isn’t true, though. Certainly not the club. Maybe Hurst and his agent, I guess, but not really sure how being turned down for a job helps his image.

Which article(s) are you referring to? The one I saw was stating that Notts had dropped their interest in Hurst.

Would have preferred Hurst but Ardley is a good appointment. Remember when Kewell was appointed I said that he’d be better than Kewell. He needs results quick either way

Could any friend or family member please step in, we’ve got a live one here. I fear thins aren’t great at home or there is some sort of issue for you to fly off the handle after initially being unnecessary rude. You care too much SOC.

Opinion? Hmmmmm. Opinions are great they are like arseholes, everybody has one. But what was that opinion based on? What inside info do you have.

As for No3 , glad Colin C didn’t win. That has meh written all over its

I hope Notts fans are sensible here and don’t overreact in the first 3/4 games. We need to turn it around slowly. Kewell did well in his first 6 games and then !

"Thins" are fine here, thanks. Where was I initially rude, though? Suggest you read that exchange again.

What is my opinion based on? Have already explained further up the thread why I'm dubious Hurst would have gone for this job. However, I have brought it up again because the only things to substantiate claims that Notts turned him down are ITK forum posts, a vague local rag article and heresay. Nobody has any inside info and that is exactly my point.

Based on nothing, Hurst was probably “turned down” cos they couldn’t agree on the dollars.

Very happy with Ardley, though as as said previously, a very different situation to the one at Wimbledon.

Who cares either way? It’s hardly far fetched to say he was interviewed. Nor is it that he turned Notts down or Notts turned him down. He’s out of work, a job is available.

Why do you care so much you have a manager?

For the love of god Notts announce someone to calm this clown down.

You told someone to stop posting?! Judge, juror and dickhead all rolled into one. That’s when you were rude. Needless chap, needless.

Can’t wait for anyone to be appointed now, bar Carlton Palmer
