Warnock, not even up for debate.

Warnock, then Harris and Wilder.

Warnock, Harris and Nuno. Sure Nuno had good players but plenty of teams with great players have struggled to get out of this division before.

Other than that he had more money that Bolton and Millwall put together, of course.
Parkinson though, you do come up with some odds shouts now and again.

Alex Neil has done just as well as Wilder and Harris.

Similar budgets but Millwall and Sheffield United have squads that were built by the managers. Neil inherited this squad and only made one signing in the summer.

I think Harris would get my vote. Nobody fancied Millwall at the start of the season and many, myself included, thought they would struggle. Credit where it's due, he's done one hell of a job.
Warnock has to get a mention as well, his record is incredible. I may not like his particular brand but have to give credit to the man, he knows how to get out of this league.
Honorable mentions to Neil, Wilder and Parkinson, who have done a sterling job quietly and effectively.
If Burton had managed to escape, I would have mentioned Clough again, he nearly did it and that deserves praise.
Our bloke can do one TBH!

My Bolton supporting mate would sack Parkinson tomorrow if it was up to him. Longball to a midget and no plan B.

Chris Coleman. Outstanding, no idea why they sacked him.

Smith’s done a cracking job as well. Considering we sold three of our first XI on the final day of the window, been without a recognised left back all season, and started with 1 win in 11, the comeback we’ve had has been amazing.

Yep all the bolton fans I work with want him gone. They want McCarthy though which would be a great appointment, don’t think he’d go there tbh.

Played some lovely football too. I've no idea what your budget is but you really play some great stuff!

Apparently still bottom 6 or so for this league, our MD always says bottom 3, but the financials suggest it’s a bit higher than that.

Doubt Smith will still be around next year, West Brom are apparently after him if they go down, though Moore is doing such a good job I hope they keep him on instead.

That's like winning manager of the year on Football Manager after editing the database to give your club £300million.

Middlesbrough spent over double what we did in the summer on an already decent squad just relegated from the PL and finished 5th.

But yeah it's easier to say we bought the league

Sort of on your side there, but any other club would have had to pay an awful lot more for the majority of the players you signed. Can’t really compare.

We had money, not disputing that at all, but how many teams have spent money (a lot more than us) and have bottled it. A lot of people like to write off what Nuno has achieved because of this. It's worth noting that we spent a lot of money last season and finished 15th. There are squads in the Championship that have cost a lot more than ours.

But yeah people like to avoid facts if it suits their own agenda.

Oh no definitely, lots of big teams with highly paid squads have failed. It's still an achievement to see the job through. People praised Benitez last year, and rightly so should Nuno be praised this year.

All I was trying to say though was that if you bought all of the players you loaned outright, you would have spent an awful lot of money than has been put down in your accounts, and the option to bring in a player like Diogo Jota on loan just isn't there for anyone else.

So strictly while your total "transfers in" was a lot smaller than other teams, if the same players had been bought by any other team the cost would have been huge. As you say above, don't avoid facts just because they suit your own agenda :)

So yeah, in summary, Nuno did a great job and is rightly being recognised for that - but the quality of players available to you guys just aren't and haven't been available to any other team that has ever played in this league.

The money we paid for Jota will go out of new seasons account, not last season (he officially signs on 1st July 2018). Even if you want to put his transfer in this years account our squad still costs less than Middlebrough and Aston Villa. I think what it comes down to is the Jorge Mendes factor and that subject has been done to death. We've been cleared multiple times this season from accusations of clueless bitter people on the outside.

A question I've asked people various times on here (nobody has been able to answer thus far) is why were people not complaining last season when we spent a ton of money and finished 15th? It's only an issue now because we've won the league. That is hypocrisy to me.

Seriously mate chill out. Never said your team has done anything wrong, not said it’s not still a good achievement to go up, I’ve said the opposite. So stop acting like the world is fucking against you. Where have I complained about what Wolves have done, and complained about Wolves going up?

The only point I’m trying to make is that while you might not have “strictly” spent as much as some others, that’s largely down to your relationship with Mendes. Again, I haven’t said there’s anything wrong with that, before you start calling me clueless and bitter again. But your points of “we’ve spent money before” and “other teams have spent a lot too” don’t work in this situation, it’s just not comparable.

No team before in the Championship has been able to sign the number of high quality players Wolves were able to last year, don’t care what you paid for them.

Sorry the post was to people in general, not you specifically.

Also I wasn't calling you clueless/bitter, I was aiming that at Andrea Radrizzani (Leeds owner) and Keith Wyness (Villa CEO) who publically came out and asked for the EFL to investigate us. Bit of a misunderstanding there I think lol.

Asking for an investigation and finding nothing wrong should add to your smugness TBH Mark. I think Wolves pulled an absolute blinder in all honesty and the likes of Wyness are just bitter / jealous that they never thought to do the same and have blown their parachute payments unless they beat Fulham.
As for the 'Boro spend thing, they did have over £100M in parachute and league place payments to play with which, once again, should add to your smugness!
You're a good poster fella so don't be a stranger to us down here eh (unless you go all Billy big time in the Prem)! ;)

Cheers for the kind words Ciderup. I find it frustrating that our manager doesn't seem to get the credit he deserves by some because of the money (and agent) available. I'm not blinded by it, I realise it's a huge reason to why we are where we are, but it takes a very good manager to take you out of the Championship in any situation, which is the hardest league in the world. How many managers down the line have been given open chequebooks down the years and completely ballsed it up.

Anyway it's the past now. I'll still stay in this part of the forum , I much prefer it to the section upstairs. I'll try and stop babbling on about Wolves at least ;)
