Oh well, the "game of the weekend" turns out to be a borefest. I'm betting Mahrez doesn't take the next pen for Citeh...:tw:

A bit of a damp squib tbh. Will take that point and hope the internationals in our squad get rested as much as possible over the next few weeks, as they are out on their feet. At least that horrible fixture list is now over too.

Neither team deserving the points so the right result. Joint top and unbeaten after 8 games with the worst fixtures of the 3 teams. Cant complain but improvement needed.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.

You’re not joint top. You’re second on goal difference.

Dull goalless draw between two boring, impotent sides.

If you want entertainment and goals, United are the team to watch.

And after 38 games that would matter. But at this stage equal points is as good as being joint leaders. But if you really wish to take things literally, you're as wrong as I am because we're actually 3rd on goal difference.

So we celebrated Mahrez's wildly struck spot kick like a last minute equaliser,we can do that when the game is a complete non event ! Strange decision by the manager to drop Trent for this one as I'm sure Guardiola would have been delighted to see Liverpool bereft of a raiding FB whose raking 40 yard passes and crosses that creep in behind their defense would have tormented the life out of their back four. Lovren came in to the middle alongside the Big man and Gomez thrown out to RB and low and behold Lovren done his utmost to make our task that much harder by kicking Aguero in the penalty area ,luckily on this occasion the officials seemed to be suffering from an early onset of Macular degeneration as it was possibly as blatant as it was reckless from our carefree Croatian. I can forgive the Big Dutch fella for conceding the penalty because prior to his aberration he was a colossus at the back by underpinning his class and it was a genuine attempt at winning the ball with a brain conducive with thought ,Dejan's was just another episode of the kind of shite he throws into the mix every time we think he's capable of intelligent and rational thought.

I think both sides would have loved to win this game by accident but the fact remains it suited both teams to stay within hugging distance of the top decidedly more .

Its only his second game back after the world cup. He looked sound overall, and tends to get better with game time. Why was Trent dropped btw? Rest, or a knock was it?

He looked adequate mate which is the rating you get when you make those kind of ridiculous rash decisions ,good players tend to learn from past mistakes ,as for Arnold he was rested apparently ,it just seems madness moving a player who has excelled at CB to endure spending the first 15 minutes of the game adjusting once again to a position he is ill at ease with.

I personally think the manager removed an integral ingredient from whats made us look so compact and from a defensive perspective in control. It was evident from the off that Gomez struggled with the arrangement. I know we shared the points but it could have produced a result that would have seen Guardiola reaching for the Kleenex even earlier than when Atkinson pointed to the spot if not for the games myopic officials.

More like you being blinded by ignorance.
Nah. I simply see mediocre players for what they are, even if they wear a Liverpool shirt. Where as for you, wearing a Liverpool shirt automatically makes a player top notch, regardless of what they bring to the table. You're known for it.

Forgetting completely - like all you do on Lovren's good performances - my thoughts on idiots like Skrtel, Glen fucking Johnson, Joe Cole, David Ngog, Milan Baros, El-Hadji Diouf etc.

I'll hit you with this stat then; if we don't concede in our next 15 minutes at home in the next league game, it will be HALF A SEASON without conceding a goal in the league at Anfield. And much of that was done with Lovren and another of your pet hates Karius playing.

Despite of, not because of. VVD was the key. I suspect even you see that.
VVD has been a huge influence, of course he has. However you've still got to put in the performances alongside him, and in the main they certainly have done.

The trouble with that list Salts is that they are all ex players. And so it doesn't disprove what Pags says. It's very easy to call them clowns now they've gone.

Knew 100% you were going to say him. A player who isn't in your premier league squad is he? That you know will never play for you.

The easy answer Salts, is Moreno.

Dog shit.

Utter bollocks Jimmy boy the lad can play. Sure he's maybe a bit too enthusiastic at times but he's far from shit. Heck he was even listed just the other day as a backup for Alba at Barca. I can see that and he'd be a better fit for them than bloody Digne was.

You couldn't have proven my point any more if you had really tried.

At least Lovren is just about good enough to have a future at the club in a limited capacity, as backup for VVD or Gomez in an emergency. But Moreno? Nah. He's fucking shite.

That's really your logic? A rumoured interest for Barcelona pending Liverpool getting rid so therefore he's not really shite?

Er hang on Salts, it's not that long ago that "Glen fucking Johnson" was tentatively linked with a move to Barca.

Well its not like he's being linked with drudge like Leicester. Your a strange guy Pags, you have common sense the majority of the time - though weirdly for a Liverpool supporter are pessimistic - yet if one player has a bad game or two, no matter how long ago, and then has a run where he is excellent; you still slate him! :pond:

And before you respond with the inevitable about Moreno's mistakes, his are less than a handful, not a whole fucking season of them.
