Seem to recall he was hated by Bolton fans when they had him in L1 so not sure about this one.

Certainly has a decent CV - promotions with clubs leagues above etc.

He played 20 games for Bolton in half a season before being loaned out. He certainly contributed to their promotion winning season - one way or another.

Chris Taylor is past it and is firmly in the "winding down" part of his career. He knows it, too.

....and Danny Rose. If we signing Rose and Vaughan, I just can’t see ya keeping Eoin Doyle. I can actually see Doyle signing for Mansfield, tbh.

Pick up David Vaughan too from Notts and play a 433. Then you could have a

Rose between 2 Vaughans
thanks

Hibs lining up a £250k move for Doidge. Would hope for more, but reckon we'll sell him.

Couple of nonsense Twitter rumours, Jordan Hallam, 20 yr old midfielder from Scunny and Matt Stevens, Peterborough striker.

He scored 3 goals in 6 games, I wouldn't call him shite.

Seem to remember he missed a sitter against Hartlepool in his first or second game though and that just coloured the fans impressions of him permanently.

Was it that many? Well, I do remember him being shit. I remember the Hartlepool miss, when you say sitter you mean missing an open goal. Couldn’t believe it. Maybe you’re right and that incident has overwritten everything else.

Looks like Rotherham are signing Freddie Ladapo from us. One good season in his career and we make 500k from him. Good bit of business in my opinion.

signed Byron Webster on the infamous ONE-YEAR-DEAL fits the bill for experience though

Scunthorpe fans, had a really short spell there, how did he get on?
Very meh. Didn't look great but Maldini would look shite playing next to Rory McArdle, Webster was basically playing CB by himself.

Walsall sign James Hardy, a midfielder who was released by AFC Fylde last season. In their press release they claim Hardy scored 16 goals in 44 games for Fylde, when in fact it was just 5. Bit odd.

I remember him scoring one goal and running in front of the fans with his ear cupped. Scored a couple in another game (so granted all three goals were scored in only two games) and looking like he didn't know what emotion to express.

Can't think of another player who was so universally disliked by our fans. Hallam Hope seems pretty intensely disliked by a section of our support but nothing like a majority. Even players like Georg Iliev (hehe, remember him) just warranted sighs of resignation rather than actual boos.

Ben Turner apparently turned down a two year deal from us, will end up back in L1 I imagine - we already have the best defence in the league™️ with Sweeney, Pearce and Preston so you cannot complain although it would have made great competition for CB. He’s linked with Portsmouth/Oxford now.

To be honest having Turner along with the other three at the club would be ridiculously greedy.

If true about Turner, I'm ruing that we only got a small glimpse of his quality more than what we have lost from our team.

I haven't heard anything about Mellis either. As soon as I read he has 'verbally agreed' a new contract I assumed he would be off. If he wasn't keeping his options open he would have just penned the new deal.

Ex Blackburn, Millwall and Bolton winger, Chris Taylor

*cough cough* Just the 250 odd games played for us!

When he came back on loan to us a couple of years ago I think a lot of our fans expected him to be the same young winger we had first time around and were bitterly disappointed when he didn’t have the pace anymore. Despite that he still had quality and I thought he’d actually be more suited to playing CM but what do I know. He’s always got stick from our fans despite coming through the ranks and being a star player for us in his first spell. Wish him luck wherever he rocks up.

He’s played under Gary Bowyer before, and GB seems to do well in turning average players into good ones - I believe it’s called good man management.

We’re building a squad with a mixture of youth and experience - has served us well before.

Last time we were promoted, I can’t say I was overly impressed with signing the likes of Ricky Ravenhill and Michael Nelson; but they proved influential.

His banter is good ...............

In all seriousness he's getting better, but still very much error prone, makes the odd rash decision. There is potentially a very good defender in there with abit of coaching and some time and patience.

I remember Crewe fans deriding him on almost a weekly basis when we were both last in League 1 so hopefully he's improved since then.

There was a rumour thar we were interested too, but I have no idea of the provenance of the source. Presumably, it is predicated on us selling Ladapo.

George Ray improved massively once that dickhead we once had in charge was sacked and his son was swiftly fucked off to St Mirren. Ray was set to join Cambridge if Davis lasted that transfer window too.

5 years ago against Rochdale he put in the worst individual defensive performance I've ever seen, with 4 individual mistakes leading to 4 out of 5 Rochdale goals. He has come on leaps and bounds since then and I think playing in League Two has given him maturity, confidence and greater consistency. He should be able to cut it in League One for Tranmere, and yes, he's injury prone and can drop a bollock every few games, but who doesn't do the latter down at lower league levels?

I think he deserves a move up a league unlike the frauds before him we got rid of (Turton, Nugent and ESPECIALLY Guthrie) because he was actually a part of a competent defence that didn't leak in tons of goals unlike those three. Guthrie's already showcased how bad of a decision it was for Walsall to give him two years in League One anyway! I wish Ray the best of luck and hope he does well for Tranmere.

Ray improved massively but it's not saying much, he put in some of the worst defensive performances I've ever seen from a Crewe player when he first got in the side. He became a ok part of a poor/ok defence and captain. Still makes some bonkers decisions like most defenders at this level. Not sure he's L1 standard but as TNO says, we've seen a lot worse move up the leagues.

I also think he comes across as a bit of a tosser off the pitch. I never really took to him following the 'hilarious' Roy Cropper account and Cornwall debacle. Probably grown up a bit since but mud sticks.
