Sounds like he’s an excellent signing to give us what we needed on the left then with Lewington getting on a bit, the ability on the ball that Lewie has, but pace to burn that the ginge has lacked all his career.

Been linked to Matthew Stevens of Peterborough - Not sure if its a loan or pernament deal though.

Hasn’t worked for them though. They seem to buy individuals, is that a fair comment?

Part of our business strategy .

Rather than becoming like Bolton / Bury each & every year we scout the lower Leagues & young talent at higher levels , sign them , nurture them & sell them , the likes of Bennett ( Wolves ) Assombolonga ( Midds ) Gayle ( Newcastle , now back from loan ) C.K.Smith ( Wycombe ) Washington ( Sheff Utd ) Marriott ( Derby ) some of the best examples over last decade helps us stay out of big debt with a hard core 5,500/6,000 home support it's kinda what you need to do.
Maybe twice every 15 years we reach the hallowed land of the Championship , it doesn't last long , but hey , it's a journey.
As of July 15th our ground should be back in the hands of the club rather than be council owned giving some stability & an extra £500k a season to play around with.
It's always a journey close season signing wise , I expect 3-5 more to come through the doors yet , as well as Fergie getting sacked around Jan/Feb 2020 , it's Posh , it's what we do !

Although you hit the jackpot sometimes, probably once every 12/18 months, do you think the scatter gun approach actually harms you on the pitch?

Considering how much Posh have racked up in transfer fees over the last decade, then surely they're massively underachieving by bobbing around in League One for so long? That spending power is well in advance of what the majority of clubs in the league are capable of - surely the transfer approach has got to alter slightly rather than just being happy as a feeder club to the Championship?

Think we're the longest serving team in the Division ( 8th season in a row ) so your probably right .

It's also about delusions of grandeur , we are pretty much a mid table Division 1 team which is where we've been for quite a while.

I quite like the excitement of close season , lots out the door , lots in the door .

Our chairman is a gobby twitterati , give him his do , he always puts his hand in his pocket.

We had 2 new Canadian investors last year , we buy the ground back mid July all 3 have big plans , if they come to fruition or will we be bobbing round mid - play off place in this Division wait to be seen !

Rather be a selling club & stable than get in shed loads of debt & fall out of the Football League , lots of old school clubs hit hard times & now plying their trade 2/3 leagues below.

But what successful business football plan involves 20-25 player movements every summer?

We are no different to most clubs each season with around 15 in & outs & loan players , last year was the exception with Evans ( throw enough shit & some will stick policy ) we was embarrassing & as fans bemusing ( he did similar at Mansfield season before ) .

As for business side , unlike yourself I'm just a football fan, not sure of ramifications & ffp rules etc...

I do know IF we ever get promoted to the Championship then London Road Terrace has to become seated which will be a shame.

Who's your club btw ?

He’s a Luton fan.

Not sure how Evans is going to cope here when we don’t have the budget to sign 15 million people every transfer window.

Well it was you who mentioned business plan originally, my post wasn't going to go into the economics of it all.

There is no stability if you're turning over these amount of players - we learnt that in the Conference. MacAnthony putting players on the transfer list with less than 12 months to run on their contracts are pretty short sighted in my opinion.

As for "he's a Luton fan" - well I don't really know what you expect me to say there?

Have you all noticed Steve Evans' promotions soon dried up when the emergency loan market (a personal favourite of his) was scrapped in 2016? Probably cost him a chance to sign 5 or 6 extra players a season on daft wages to get them over the line.

Peterborough at it again it seems, just announced Eisa on a “record deal” apparently. So sounds like they paid more than Bristol City did to get him from Cheltenham despite him having a year of not doing much.

Very good at Cheltenham but never really got a look in at Bristol City it seems. Could be smart business, strikers seem to do well at Peterborough.

A Luton fan hanging around in this tinpot League when they could be rubbing shoulders with the big guns in the Championship Forum ( & rightly so ) deserved promotion last season.

Our Chairman is an ego , an enigma , a twitterati but not a tight wad , I'm just a fan & myself & others wear bemused looks every pre season with ins & outs also the 12 month thing , but hey , it's a journey & I can see why others look & have a bit of a chuckle at what goes on here but it's Posh , it's what we do.

To be fair to Mo, he looked lively during the pre season games but was injured before the season started. At our place he never really got a look in with Famara Diedhou ahead of him and doing the business.
Maybe the 2 division jump was too much at the time, particularly after he was injured, but I wish him well.
He'll do well for Posh I think.

Money, Stadiums, football standard, crowds.... It all gets better as you progress upward from non league. The exception is these forums.

That's a very hurtful thing to say, Belize. :conf:I think you should pack your things and leave. The flat screen TV is mine though, so don't touch that.

Wasn't Marriott a bit shit when he went to Posh?

I’m glad Poshinpetoria doesn’t still post on here otherwise we could have been in for a long week.

No he was decent and you could see he had ability, it was just that at that time we were not playing in a manner that really suited his game. Jones(Nathan) was still in something of his idealistic phase where he basically wanted tiki taka and a team of number 10s which early on in the season he pursued to sometimes ridiculous lengths . Marriott was more about getting in behind and stretching teams which we were not really doing early on in the season before he left which shot his confidence a bit. I always remember 2 glaring misses against Leeds in the League cup that were the turning point for him here where he was just not the same.

Ironically later on he would have been a good fit as Jones learned a thing or two and we got a bit more balanced, but too late then and Isaac Vassell had taken his spot.

Change of scenery did him good but it was obvious he had ability. I remember being pretty disappointed we gave up on him when he left.

Rumours we're after ex-player Andy Cook to replace the (all but confirmed) departing Norwood.

The next league up is all on hearsay. We havent been there in Donkeys Years. I hope we can just hold out to play you again the following season. You can return the flatscreen then.

According to the twitter world, we’re interested in Danny Rowe from Fylde and Callum Lang from Wigan.

Did make me laugh that MacAnthony tweeted something along the lines of it being solely down to Evans that you signed loads last summer, before going on to sign as many players as most of the division combined by the start of June...

The bloke can't help himself!
