Eaves will be off in January I'd expect - if we get 500k for him I'd be delighted. He's scored over 30 goals for us in less than 18 months which is extraordinary considering how mediocre we've been for the majority of that. He's good in the air obviously, but he's scoring all sorts of goals this season including that ridiculous goal at Pompey.

As others have said it could be a case of him being the right fit for our club, and his previous records would suggest that too. I would be surprised if we sold him to another League One club if I'm honest unless the bid was extraordinary - he wants to play in the Championship, so I reckon anyone in the bottom 6 or so might take a punt. I could see him at Preston as he's from the north-west, but a lot of talk has suggested Millwall could well be his destination. I think he's very much a Millwall style of player and he'd probably get the fans on side, but being brutally honest I'm not 100% sure he'd manage with the step up. He definitely deserves a shot at it though.

For us, of course it'd be an issue. But each time we've lost our main goalscorer for years we've been able to replace them somehow. At the time we signed Eaves, he came in as Cody McDonald was going out. The fans didn't think Cody could be replaced by someone who'd just been released by League Two Yeovil after a 4 goal in 40 appearance season but he has done. Maybe we won't be able to replace his goals and we'll get relegated, but maybe we will, and we might even end up with a gem. Who knows?

The first time that I saw Eaves play was at Shrewsbury v Walsall. People were openly pissing themselves laughing at just how bad he was.
Similarly with Stockley - couldn't hit a barn door in his spell at Luton.

Strange world we live in.

We're signing Andy Cannon from Rochdale. Looks like Ben Thompson back to Millwall which is a shame as he's been Motm in most games this season. Rochdale fans any good?
Andy Cannon should do a good job for you. Can play anywhere across midfield. Can defend and score. Totally dominated Harry Winks in the first cup game last season.

Can also play right back/wing back. Apparently Keith Hill wanted to play him there, but Cannon prefers midfield.

Will hopefully do well for Pompey, and develop into a Championship player as/when you go up.

In the meantime, expect to see more of 17 yo Dan Adshead and 18yo Aaron Morley in the Dale midfield...

As far as Harrison McGahey goes, he's probably our best defender - surprisingly fast for a big lad. Occasionally caught out of position. Hope Scunny have a fat cheque book.

Oh, and despite our predilection for signing former players, we don't want Rory McArdle back in a swap deal. He's a good lad, but Jim McNulty is the man in possession of our "inexplicable defensive cockup" shirt, and we don't need two! :)

A few clubs in this league have asked the question about taking Mo Eisa on loan from us for six months which is something we should probably consider given he’s getting next to no gametime here. Got a feeling Plymouth will land him, especially if Ladapo is off.

We were in for in, in the summer so I expect we'll be in for him if he's available. We need a different option up top when Hawkins is off form or when we need some pace up top.

Leverage for a potential deal for Carey? He's a decent player playing in a position we need and we could afford him plus his wages wouldn't be an issue.
Is he Championship standard people? Always looks decent on the tele to be fair.
We get Carey, Argyle get Mo Eisa for the rest of the season.
Sorted!

Rumours in Exeter we've met Jayden Stockleys release clause of 750k. Played here before and wants to stay in the South. Scored a lot of goals, think we can do better, but KJ not got much wrong. KJ confirms Andy Cannon has signed

Isn’t Carey in his 30s mate? Not sure we’d be after him but a good player no doubt.

I’d say he’d fit into the Jackett style of play...

Stockley definitely fits the Jackett requirements. Good target man who scores plenty.

Definitely looks like our budget has grown plenty since last season. Were looking like a club gearing up for the Championship. Could be problematic if we don't make it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we went for him and maybe offered Tom Elliott as part of the deal. Similar player, but not made the step up but effective enough in league one.

I was thinking along similar lines, I'd definitely take Elliott as part of a deal - I think Eaves has more to his game but Elliott can be very effective as you say.

Seems to be only me that thinks this would be a strange move. Rattling round in the lower leagues, must be a reason why no-one has taken a punt on him before. Not sure going to a team challenging for automatic promotion is the right fit for him. Would expect him to be discarded fairly soon after promotion too. Looks to be a very short sighted signing to me.

Don’t agree. Players improve; Stockley certainly has done so from the player he was 3-4 years ago.

Elliott has all the physical attributes you could ask for, and a really good attitude. Unfortunately he doesn't have much of a brain, and that's a real issue at Championship level.

e’ve appointed Greg Abbott as Director of Football Operations. I know he was a useless manager, but what was his recruitment like?

Difficult to say as he was working alongside the dictator Edin Rahic, but if we go off the current squad and what he did over the past 2 years, not very good at all.

edit to say glad he's back in football and got a job pretty much straight away. Good luck to him, hope he's working in better conditions than what he was here.

What's the feeling around McCartan as your place, Bradford fans?

I think we've got an option to buy in January but I suspect you're still able to recall him if you wanted to.

Bit marmite I like him though, saw glimpses last season. However if the price is right I'd sell as wee need to try buy one or two of our loanees imo.

Would only have him back as we’re so short of quality from the bench, he wouldn’t get anywhere near the starting 11 - Would you want him?

We've got an option on him apparently.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was made permanent because he suits us when we're at home. He's not someone who'll produce and be involved every game and I suppose you'd class him as a luxury player to a point but against the better sides in the league when he gets more space, he's done well.

He doesn't sound too keen on going back either but I'm only basing that on a couple of questions he was asked at a press conference a few weeks back.

Looks like Sonny Jim could have another of his ex-teammates join him at Fortress Kenny next month. I'm sure this guy will be "smokin'" and b-e-a-utiful. Would be an almighty signing if we pulled it off.

I like him. Really think he'd suit the system we are playing now as well.

I think we'll recall if someone comes in and nabs Payne which I think is entirely possible this window.

From what I saw of Payne when we played you earlier in the season, Id quite fancy him here. Looks exactly the sort of player Jones absolutely loves and would suit us perfectly. Doubt it would happen but if we lost Lee or something this window, id like to see us go for him.

Out of contract in the summer so reckon Huddersfield will 'cash in'. Hoping we can find 300k+ behind the sofa to keep him here.
