Not KODI related, but TV related. Any recommendations for speakers/soundbars? How much should I be spending to be getting something decent? Doesn't have to be amazing but good enough so you can tell you're not listening to the built in TV speakers?

Being given a Kodi box tonight. My fiancee's work colleague has two of the same so is giving us one. He is setting it up for all the sports, movies, TV shows etc.
We were using Kodi on the laptop but couldn't get the football anymore. Movies/TV shows still worked fine though. Will be far better on the big screen I hope. Just in time for tomorrow nights game at the Hammers :bg:

What's your budget? I've got an LG NB4540 sound bar I bought around 2 years ago, a fantastic bit of kit (this, but in black) that I got on a deal for £250. They don't make them any more unfortunately, so if you don't wan't to pay £230 for a refurb (and I wouldn't), I suggest the updated LG equivalent which would be the SH7. I can guarantee after a few weeks you will listen to the sound that came out of the TV and laugh.

Alas, the marital compromise between living room clutter and sound quality.

Sorry late reply to this, I ended up getting a bit of a cheapo soundbar due to the fact that we had to buy everything new. Got this TV/soundbar combo though and enjoying it so far...

Can't get my wife's iPhone to sync up via Bluetooth to the soundbar, though. Up to date OS and have reset network settings several times. Has anyone got any ideas? There doesn't seem to be a lot of help online, other than a factory reset. The soundbar isn't even showing when we scan on her iPhone.

Sorry, can't help with that. I've got an LG soundbar but I've never connected an iPhone to it, never had a problem with any Android device but as you don't mention issues with your S7E I presume you don't have problems with that. Next time the old man is over I'll try it with his iPhone 6 and see if I have any issues. I've often read about iPhones having issues pairing with Bluetooth devices though, certainly more so than Android.

Yeah my phone and the TV both pair with each other and the soundbar no probs. Haven't checked our laptops yet (one macbook, one pc). Done a quick bit of reading but it seems like the iPhone 7 has had a lot of issues with this.

For anyone wanting a premium Kodi service, use Bulky.

I pay £10 a month - I get the entire sky package in full 1080p HD guaranteed. I get the entire US cable package, again in 1080p HD.

I get every single PL game guaranteed in full HD with english commentary.

I cancelled sky a year ago and have used this since.

If anyones interested, let me know and i'll help you as i'm friends with the guys.

You can get all of that for free if you know where to look and save yourself £10.

Can you tell me where to look to get 1080p Sky channels for free, Paggers? In fact it doesn't really need to be 1080p but HD is preferred. I've not had much luck with IPTV addons. I've had some decent ones in the past but they seem to die pretty quickly.

Just got BT Youview, the HD channels are great but the SD ones are fucking atrocious. Any text or logos on screen are incredibly pixelated, like way worse than the Youtube app installed on the TV and to the point that you can barely read them. Have tried going through all 5 HDMI Display Setting options (720p, 1080i, 1080p, UHD 50fps 8bit and UHD 50fps 10bit) but they're all gash. Any ideas?

Edit: Made a thread on the BT forum about this and spoke to a BT customer service person, who told me to contact my "aerial vendor" after about an hour and a half of trying different retunes and resets. https://community.bt.com/t5/YouView-Boxes/Pixelated-Non-HD-Channels/td-p/1712035

Been reading up a bit on this. As my signal is high, one solution could to be to use a 6db attentuator. I'm not sure if this is will help, has anyone ever had to do this before? I refuse to believe the person in that thread that is saying "that's freeview for you" or whatever. It can't be as bad as it is.

You can't get it guaranteed for free though. Not in full 1080p HD. Not every channel.

£10 is a small price to pay for it imo.

Ive seen numerous people use IPTV, both premium and free, and I've yet to see a single one that offers guaranteed full 1080p on every channel (or close to it even). And the reliability of the streams is often no better than what you get on standard addons. I'm sure your friends appreciate the plug but at least be honest about it.

Paid IPTV services are waste of money for me but each to their own.

I've had no issues with my service, i'll post pictures of the quality i'm pulling through.

I've never ever found a free service that pulls through at 1080p as well.

Install a good, stable build and get the hard work done for free. Install Ares Wizard, run it then install Apollo would be my advice.

I'm not too arsed about whether it's 1080p, I just want a smooth stream that doesn't look like it's been recorded on a calculator.

Sports on free addons are not guaranteed. Ares do a sports addon that i've heard is decent though. Like Pagnell says though, install a build that includes everything!

You won't find a stable, continued stream that works perfectly for free imo.

Are you running it on android? I have a different app you can install on android that gets you most channels for free and the quality is semi decent.

The quality on Mobdro is shite, if that's what you're referring to, but it's fairly reliable in terms of streams.

No it's called e-doctor - I'm not even sure why it's called that in all honesty but the quality is a hell of alot better than Mobdro!

I'm running Flawless IPTV through Kodi on my Firestick. It's great, generally HD streams but if they're not their SD streams are great.

A build is a set of Kodi addons and a visual style that have been set up and saved in a configuration that can be loaded onto your fresh Kodi install. There are hundreds of them. See below for an example of one.
