He is same age as Ederson who people/media think is amazing but has loads of errors in him. But no one really talks about it because City keep winning. Not because of him, but their insanely good attack. Just look at the game against spurs. Media is criticizing Karius for the punch (which was perfectly fine) that led to Wanyama goal but Lloris gets a free pass for not saving Salah's goal.

What the fuck does any of that have to do with my view of Karius? Am I defending Lloris? No. All I have ever said about him is that he's better than either of our two. Which is is. I'm not basing my view of Karius on what the media have to say about him. I'm basing it on watching him and believing him to be not good enough for a team of our ambition. As with Mignolet.

And comparing Karius to Ederson is just hilarious.

Neither do I. You sound like one of those stereotypical Liverpool fans that everyone laughs at. How many times have you watched Karius? How many proper run in the team has he had? Did you watch him in bundesliga? during training? Maybe you don't base your view on media but people like you in social media are the reason players get written off well before they have any chance. You were probably the first one to laugh at De Gea and say United signed a dud.

Lloris is a calamity keeper. He makes numerous howlers both at club and international level. If you think 24 year is old enough age to judge a keepers future, just look at Szczesny. Don't think anyone would question Juve's ambitions.

How much did you watch him in the Bundesliga or in training?

Says the bloke who couldn't find Merseyside on a world map without the index. The irony here is enough to make your teeth itch.

How many times have I watched him? Numerous times for my club and bar a couple of occasions he's been shite. Now you can cross your fingers and hope for the best if you wish, myself I'll trust my instinct from 40 years of watching football and tell you he's shit. He has utterly terribly distribution, shits himself every time the ball goes near him and has all the 18 yard presence of a dandylion. Just look at how many times VvD has had to point at him and tell him what to do since coming in. Or is picking up on such observations too much to expect of you?

And the fact you think he's better than Lloris, and call the Frenchman a calamity keeper says everything you need to know about your knowledge of keepers. No wonder Saltire liked your post. Lloris is far from world class and makes mistakes, but give me a fucking break.

Edison, Lloris and you even bring De Gea into it. The farce is strong with this one.

Who is comparing Karius’ early Premier League career to De Gea’s and Lloris’???? :eyes: :fl:

Karius isn’t developing into no De Gea, I can tell you that for a certainty :fing: Lloris and Mignolet aren’t the type of goalkeepers Liverpool need anyway. Mignolet is an ideal shot-stopper keeper for a bottom half team who face 20 shots a game. Liverpool need an Oblak. Klopp should sell them both or at least instil a new number one before next season. Karius needs to learn under a world class keeper ;)

Pagnell definitely has some humble pie incoming. That said, the way he talks about Karius he'll have some humble pie to eat even if Karius just doesn't make a fool of himself from here on in.

He's been perfectly fine recently but the way some (the usual suspects on here, but also elsewhere) are talking about him is merely a testament to just how much our standards have been lowered over the past couple of seasons. Nowadays not shit is translated to very impressive.

Nah. I suspect it will be a long process before it's accepted what he is, although I admit that isn't helped by him making some decent saves recently. But, as a result of that, he's suddenly a De Gea beater in the eyes of idiots like GDragon and frogsnorter. The truth is that, while he's shown himself to be better than I've said in recent games, in the long term he's still not good enough. Mignolet had similar purple patches before reverting to type and even his number one fan Saltire admitted in the end he made a mistake with him.

Is it possible Karius ends up being good enough for Liverpool's ambition? Yes, at a stretch. And if it happens I'll be happy and hold my hands up as we won't have to look for a keeper, which isn't easy. But is it likely that he's good enough? No, not for me. The bottom line is I don't believe he'll be between our sticks as anything other than backup in 18 months time.

Fair enough, most of what you say makes sense. However, given your previous stance on Karius, what would your opinion be if he keeps up his current form for the rest of the season? Buy or give it another season?

I'm kind of on the fence regarding that, me. However, goalkeeper is a notoriously difficult position to get right and we have more pressing concerns that will likely cost a bit, aside from Keita coming in at 60 odd million. But then again, a drop of form mid-September from Karius making our whole defence nervous and you'd take a bullet to have bought that good goalkeeper for 30ish million.

I was never Mignolet's number one fan Pags, he just became a solid option for a while when people like yourself still harked back to his flaky errors in previous seasons. He was limited though and we have seen the limitations of him. Karius is a more talented keeper in his distribution and the way he commands his box, and having VVD there guiding him is helping give him the confidence he is once again showing. He isn't 'world class' and a new De Gea, but the potential that in my mind thats always been there from him, he is now beginning to show. This new guy everyone wants, Allison, was second keeper at Roma to Szczesny last season and has had his breakout season this; he has been given his chance and is taking it, same with Karius. Let's give him the chance to show what he's got, he's far better than a number of keepers we've had over the years thats for sure.

You absolutely were, and by a distance at that.
Ok your putting words in my mouth then like Pags. Believe what you want Bilo, Mignolet's stats were fine so he didn't deserve the flak he was getting which is why I backed him up back then, that's all, I didn't think he was Sebastiano Rossi ffs.

Difficult one that. Overall I'd say buy and keep the improved Karius as backup, assuming he'd be happy with that and assuming there was someone of definite improvement available to buy.

He's German, so he's probably into that!

Innit Beeelo?

That's a racial slur.

It's not because Germans are not a race.
I hear you people but here's how it is.

Karius is a white, heterosexual male. As is the majority of the German male population, which the generalization aims at. Now, as Jammers is a chimp, he represents a significantly more marginalized group than Karius and/or Germans. As such, it's fine. Can Karius make this joke about chimps? No. Kicking downwards is what we're trying to stop, not upwards, upwards is fine.

I was at the Toon game and though he had very little to do he did make one absolutely class save in the first half . He seems to have finally settled and he's playing with confidence as is the entire defence nowadays. I think Lpool will sell Mignolet and buy another this summer . The question is whether it will be a new starter or a backup to Karius. Depends a lot on his continued improvement and form but I won't write him off just yet .

Is Robertson still the best LB in Britain orrr? Why can’t Liverpool fans rate their players normally? They refuse to admit any of their players aren’t good.

I believe Spurs possess two better left backs than Andrew Robertson.

I always knew he would be.
Yes for some reason you are always spot on regarding the signings that turn out good and way off with the signings that turn out bad.
