Sadly however the BBC didn't mention the three 'football related' Petroglyphs. These are of course little drawings of Blundell Park, Sincil Bank and Scunny's ground.

Blundell Park is always in the sunshine, even though it sometimes gets hit by storms, rain and has windy moments. The other two are completely in Blundell Parks shadow and rarely see any daylight, once or twice per millennium they might have some 'highlight' but it's usually very short lived, like lincoln's last two seasons for instance; don't expect another one like those for the next 100 years or so. As for Scunny, they are well overdue some 'downtime'.

Remind me, which two of the three clubs have been in the Conference in their history?

Which one of the three have also been above the other two for 10+ years?

Well, I thought I'd clicked on the League 2 forum, but I must have accidentally hit the tinpot thread instead...

I looked in because of the word ‘interesting’ in the title.

Boy, how wrong was I.

Surely it’s time Lincolnshire was renamed Scunthorpeshire as a tribute to the county’s best football team!

I think I eluded to that in my last sentence mate, you've been well run and done very well in recent history, but time will tell my friend, soon the world will see GTFC rise again as you fall away to be with Lincoln.

Scunthorpe well run? They were losing £110k a week (yes, a week) last season. They went through a phase of doing well with strikers (Sharp, Keogh, Hooper) but that's it.

They've had a benefactor for as long as I can remember. Before Swann, it was Wharton.

I think it's quite impressive that despite being the newest by far, and entertaining higher league teams than the others, Scunthorpes ground is impressively the worst out of the 3 of them.

Whoever signed that "thing" of a ground off?

At least their Council backs their moves to new pastures, even if the end product is awful. Our Council just fannies about until the project just dies through old age and inactivity.

I'm bored too like Black Haddock so............BUMP!

I'm not one for silly crap like The Natural Order (LOL) but I do acknowledge that some clubs are bigger than others. Anyway, I've always believed that in this area the biggest club is Grimsby, closely followed by Hull, then Lincoln and Scunny the smallest side.

Grimsby>Hull>Lincoln>Scunthorpe

Am I right or?

I think you will find, Matt Rhead makes our squad of long ball thugs the biggest side in the area.

Swap Hull and Grimsby over and that's correct. Followed by Boston, Trinity and Lincoln United.

I think you're right. I was thinking that Hull's home gates only increased when they made the Championship but I was wrong. While I do remember them having some poor home averages around 1998 I think, they were getting close to 10000 only four years later while still playing 4th div footy.

Naturally, I expect Lincoln's and Grimsby's home crowds to shoot up massively should they follow Hull's upward trajectory, though clearly both sides will have to move to bigger grounds if /when this happens. As for Scunny, they simply don't have that big a fan base/or interest form the locals apparently.

BTW Luke, are Lincoln still sending out on loan their young ones to Trinity?

Not really. One last season, a young GK called Richard Walton but their then manager, Dave Frecklington (Lee's Uncle), slated him in a post match interview and he came back here.

I think he might be the only young lad we've sent out on loan in the last 2 or 3 years.

Our support is a bit of a strange one really as I can remember during our biggish stint in the 2nd tier taking some really poor followings away, yet it seems the further we've dropped the better our support has become, and it's not just a case of dropping down means more success and winnng more games as up until our non league days we only had the 1 season challenging at the right end of the league (2004/05 League 2).
Very odd.

You've always seemed to have a really steady support regardless of how you've been doing (or at least it seemed so), which doesn't seem to have fluctuated much down the year. And always have a decent % of your home support going away. Always have done as far back as I can remember.
