Fantasy booking time, mother fuckers.

We're officially on the Road of Wrestlemania (trademark and all that shit) now with the Royal Rumble coming up, so I was wondering... what's your ideal card for the show? I've been thinking about the roster and I don't see how the fuck they're going to fit everybody in that deserves to be in...

But anyway, here's my half prediction/ half dream card. I say this because it's basically the best possible card I could see WWE doing. I mean, if I wanted to go into complete fantasy land I could, for example, say a Shield Triple Threat, but I don't see them moving Ambrose over to Raw to do that... so this is a kind of middle ground between what I want to happen and what I think will happen.

Main Event:
The Undertaker vs John Cena - WWE Championship
Come the fuck on, WWE, make this happen. For a few years I, and many others, have been wanting to see this and things are gearing up nicely. The way I'd do it? Cena beats Styles at the Rumble for the title. I know, I know, I wouldn't have thought I'd want that either really, but if it led to this match I'd take it. Meanwhile, Taker wins the rumble. Then at Fastlane we get some bullshit where the title is vacated. I don't know how, use your imagination. Then for our main event of WM we get... Taker vs Cena, with Cena going for the all time world titles record, but to do so he has to do what only one man has done, and beat Taker at WM. And yeah, fuck it, Cena would probably win. Cena breaking that record (which will happen) may as well be on the biggest stage possible against the biggest challenge possible.

Triple H vs Seth
This is nailed on, isn't it? Don't even need to discuss it. It's been painfully slow in the build up with Triple H screwing Seth MONTHS ago and we're still yet to get an explanation, but fuck it. This could be good.

Goldberg vs Lesnar
Again, surely there's no way this doesn't happen. Have them fuck each other over in the rumble. And Goldberg is now being advertised for Fastlane... where I can imagine him facing Roman Reigns for the title. Lesnar to screw him over, and bang, done, easy. Though this means Reigns holding the title at WM... so...

Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman - Universal Championship
UUUUGH. I don't want it. Not really. But everybody thinks it's going this way, and I could totally see WWE being silly enough to do this. Reigns to beat Owens at the Rumble and then at Fastlane (more on that later...) and Strowman, who's being built up like fuck, to get into the title picture but winning an elimination chamber at Fastlane. But fuck it, I actually like what they're doing with Strowman. As far as big guys with no real in ring skills and no real longevity to what they're doing goes, he's actually pretty good. And he had a good match with Zayn lately, which was his first real match (you know, besides squashing people in 2 seconds). And I always say, Reigns has a knack for actually having brilliant matches. This could happen, and people will hate it, but I feel like by the end it could surprise people. Hopefully.

Owens vs Jericho
Yeah, I can see this. Owens loses to Reigns at the rumble and fastlane... and then, after Jericho has helped him hold onto his Universal title for so long and it's his turn to return the favour for Jericho with his US title, Owens suddenly couldn't give a fuck about Jericho. And as everybody except Jericho knew all along, he only wanted him around to help him hold the title. Jericho turns face (which is silly, but WWE tend to turn popular heels face) and the match is set. Even though we all know Owens should really be fighting Zayn.

Charlotte vs Asuka - Raw Womens Championship
Now after a few "prediction" type matches, here's one that's probably pure fantasy but man I'd love to see it. Charlotte, unbeaten on PPV vs Asuka, unbeaten in general. Something's gotta give. Means calling Asuka up soon and pushing her straight to the top, but fuck it, she's good enough.

Nikki Bella vs Alexa Bliss - Smackdown Womens Championship
Basically, it's all I can think of for Smackdowns womens match. We surely can't get Becky vs Alexa again, and I don't think any other heels are capable of being here besides Alexa. Plus it's about time Nikki got back in the title hunt.

AJ Styles vs... ???
There's not really anybody left on Smackdown who could justifiably go against Styles. Ambrose, maybe, but that's been done to death. And there's no way he doesn't deserve a one on one match. So... Nakamura? Surely a call up is coming and you'd assume it'll be the night after WM... but if they do it early (say, at the Rumble...) they can build this up in time. Alternatively... well, this time last year, Cena randomly posted a picture of AJ Styles on instagram with no context, then Styles showed up at the rumble. A couple of days ago, Cena posted a picture of Kenny Omega up... and rumours are circulating. As I said in the top wrestlers thing, I've never actually seen him wrestle, but if his hype is to be believed, perhaps he'd be a match for Styles.

Orton vs Bray Wyatt
Surely, right? Shit's already going down the the group and it's not really working. This is what I assume it's building towards.

Ambrose vs The Miz vs Corbin vs Ziggler and any other people who there's nothing else for, for the IC title in, probably, a ladder match. But I'd rather have...

Cesaro and Sheamus vs New Day vs Enzo and Cas vs The Club - TLC - Raw Tag Titles
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WWE, make TLC great again. Raw doesn't exactly have the in ring talent that Smackdown does in the tag department, but they could still put on a great match if they do it right... and the last time they did a TLC match at WM, well, it's often touted as one of the best WM matches of all time. It's baffling that they haven't tried it again and right now Raw has enough teams that are super popular to pull it off.

American Alpha vs The Usos - Smackdown Tag Titles
Not a lot of great options here and this match probably wouldn't get the time it'd need to be great, but there was a time a few years back when The Usos were having the match of the PPV every PPV. And, obviously, Alpha are great. I seriously think that this could be a black sheep for match of the night. It'll probably be relegated to the pre show, too.

Rusev vs Sami Zayn
Purely here on the basis of them being the last two Raw guys who I think deserve a match who don't have anything else. In fact, have Jericho drop the US title to Zayn and make this a title match too. Reeks of preshow, but Sami certainly deserves to be on the card.

Some kind of Cruiserweight thing - Another preshow match for sure. I don't care what happens, so long as it ends with Jack Gallagher coming out with the title, because he's AWESOME.

I've got Raw with 8 matches and Smackdown with 6, which is probably the right balance... and leaves 14 matches for the card, which sounds insane, but they did 12 last year so it's probably not unrealistic. Let's see how close that is (or, probably, how horrifically wrong it is...) come March. Also, what are your guesses/dream cards?

Do the thing.

I won't submit a card of my own as I haven't really been watching WWE for a few weeks but I'd like to throw my weight behind your Asuka/Charlotte pick. I'd bloody love to see that.

I'd take Reigns vs Strowman. It won't be that high up on the card so it wouldn't get a massive time slot and it would be an intriguing match up. The crowd would likely shit over Reigns but I'd be happy with it as a match. If they put Taker vs Reigns, I'm not going to be happy.

As for Styles, possibly give him Finn Balor. Be a decent match that.

My issue with it is that there's too many singles matches so a few of them will probably get dropped and there will be a clusterfuck ladder match for one of the mid card titles somewhere.

I know, right? I honestly can't think of a better scenario for the Raw womans title. It'd be a huge shame for Bayley and Sasha to miss out entirely, but I'd be ok with it if it meant Charlotte vs Asuka. I was going to throw Bayley vs a heel Sasha on there as well, but I don't see them doing 3 womens matches... plus, if rumours are to be believed, that's being saved for Summerslam. Perhaps we'll get Sasha and Bayley vs Nia Jax and (???) as a preshow match.

I had actually spent most of the year wanting Bayley vs Charlotte, with Bayley finally stopping Charlottes unbeaten run. And I'd take that as a backup if they won't call Asuka up yet.

You know, as I was writing about the Reigns/Strowman match, I think I sort of sold myself on it a bit  Taker vs Reigns would be a horrific waste. For me, Taker needs to fight Cena (title or not)... failing that, people are crying out for AJ Styles. Actually, there have been shitloads of rumours of a Styles vs... HBK  Holy hell that'd be grand, but I don't see it. On the topic of rumours actually, there are suggestions of Daniel Bryan coming back for one last match against The Miz... it'd make sense from a story perspective, but if Bryan is only back for a one off I'd sooner see him against a Styles or Rollins. Then again, he'd probably have a shorter/easier match against the Miz, which is probably for the best considering his health.

And yeah, I forgot that Balor should be back as well by then. Perhaps Balor vs Styles as some kind of Raw vs Smackdown thing... would be fine as a match, but I could see them burying it under a blanket of Michael Cole trying to force us to care about who wins out of Raw or Smackdown, rather than out of Balor and Styles.

This is my dream card but only because initially I wanted Reigns turning heel on Taker (IMAGINE IT) but couldn't get the rest of the card to fit.

Cena v Taker - Career v Career Match

Cena beats Styles. Taker wins the Rumble = Title v Career Match - Taker retires if he loses at Mania again. Styles wins his rematch leaving Cena without the belt but desperate to prove himself and so puts his career on the line to tempt Taker away from Styles. CENA TURNS HEEL TO WIN...Maybe.

AJ v ? - WWE Title Match

Omega rocking up to steal Styles' thunder would be the ultimate dream but I don't buy Cena's trolling. I think someone like Joe/Nakamura comes up and goes straight for the belt - likely using their past TNA/NJPW connections as motive to feud Styles.

Reigns vs. Balor vs. Rollins - Universal Title Match

Reigns is more interesting when he's not fighting big men but Strowman's push has gone surprisingly well so this seems the likely conclusion. However as this is fantasy booking. Reigns turns heel on Balor and/or Rollins - reckon these 3 could produce something special too.

Lesnar v Goldberg

Obviously.

Strowman vs. Rusev vs. Zayn

This would be Zayn's moment for me - overcoming these two, I think you book a very entertaining match. Strowman v Rusev have a big macho-off on Raw and this gets booked - Sami has no match at Mania and demands this to get on the card.

Jericho v Owens - US Title

Bound to happen and they'd probably make it work despite Jericho being terrible in the ring. Seems a waste of Owens but I think he'll be out of the main title picture.

Cesaro/Sheamus v New Day vs. everyone else.

Open the show with this or something I don't know.

American Alpha v Usos

Pre-show fodder but I quite like all 4 of these guys - even cooler if you could work the Revival into it.

Nikki Bella vs. My future wife, Alexa Bliss

Bayley v Charlotte

I'll be honest, this has got ridiculous now - I'm think I'm creating a 7 hour show. There's so many options this year it's ridiculous - surely they can't fuck it up.

Going out of the box a bit here haha.

WWE Championship - AJ Styles (c) vs John Cena - Title vs Career
Styles beats Cena at RR, then beats him 2-1 in a 2 out of 3 falls at Elimination Chamber. AJ goads and goads Cena into putting up his career for one final shot at AJ at WM. Cena agrees, wins and the rest is history.

WWE Universal Championship - Kevin Owens (c) vs Chris Jericho
Just has to happen. I imagine it will go down with no titles on the line as they cost eachother their titles in the lead up to WM, but for me, having it over the UC is the best thing to do, plus it allows Jericho to win the Rumble match.

Brock Lesnar vs Bill Goldberg
It's going to happen, so just let it happen.

Demon vs Demon - Finn Balor vs The Undertaker
Finn Balor returns at the Royal Rumble and eliminates Taker, setting up this match. Demon Balor wins too.

United States Championship - Roman Reigns (c) vs Braun Strowman
In reality this is probably going to happen for the UC Title but i'd have Reigns retain the title at Elimination Chamber whilst Strowman wins a #1 contenders match. It keeps Reigns out of the main event scene and allows Strowman to continue to develop.

Intercontinental Title - Dean Ambrose vs The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler vs Baron Corbin vs Kalisto vs Apollo Crews
Ladder match for the title, nice and simple.

Raw Womens Championship - Charlotte (c) vs Bayley
Books itself, and Charlotte's PPV winning streak comes to an end here.

SD Womens Championship - Becky Lynch (c) vs Mickie James
Only match that could possibly give Raw's a run for it's money.

Big Show vs Shaw
It's going to happen so got to have it in haha.

Raw Tag Titles - Cesaro & Sheamus (c) vs Gallows & Anderson vs SAWFT vs New Day
Nice simple fatal 4 way.

SD Tag Titles - American Alpha (c) vs Usos vs Vaudevillains vs Ascension vs Slater & Rhyno vs The Revival - Tag Team Turmoil

Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal
Throw the rest of them in.

FUCK.

I forgot that Show vs Shaq is definitely a thing that's going to happen. Fucking hell. Shaq randomly showing up in the battle royale last year was fine for a laugh, but I can't be assed for a full match to happen. That's gonna rob somebody much more deserving of having a great 1 vs 1 spot at WM for sure. I'd pray it gets pre showed, but I can't imagine them relegating a celebrity to a pre show match...

Also, good card there Baz but I'd fucking hate to see Balor beat Taker. Or even face him, really. I know Balor is rated high as hell, but I am STILL yet to actually see why. Not particularly outstanding in the ring, generic look (when not painted up) and bang average on the mic from what I've seen. The only real things going for him are an amazingly marketable look with his demon stuff, and one of the best entrances in the business. I'm already a bit annoyed at the push he got, going straight to the main event at Summerslam and winning the title. Not because I particularly hated seeing him do it because I think he's shit, far from it... more a case of just wishing it had been somebody else instead. So many much better people could have had that sort of thing happen over the last 4 or 5 years. To me, he's a solid 7/10 option when there are 10/10 options who could have had that kind of a push instead.

Ugh, I also see a lot of talk of Styles vs Shane.

Shane coming back for a match last year was brilliant, even though I thought The Undertaker was a poor choice of opponent. Everybody loved seeing him again and he once again delivered with a ridiculous fall off the cell. But that's it, now. I don't particularly care to see him at WM taking up a spot against wrestlers who I'd prefer see up against more talented wrestlers.

THIS BEING SAID.

If Ambrose and Shane were to have any kind of a NO DQ/ Street fight type match... actually, I could see that being amazing. Both men take crazy risks during their match. If they let them do it right and make it a real hardcore car crash of a match... that could actually be fantastic. But the lingering thoughts of the disappointing Ambrose/Lesnar match from last year can't escape my mind. Though according to Ambrose, the lack of real action in that match was more to do with Lesnar just not realy being arsed to take any real risks to do anything too OTT... I can't see Shane having that attitude.

Fuck it. In the space of this post I reckon I've sold myself on that one. Go for it, WWE

That's what I was thinking. Should be fairly straight forward to set up a feud between those two, and a street fight No DQ match would be epic

Plus it can be the thing to finally turn Ambrose heel. He's needed that for a while, I reckon. Though, knowing WWE, they'll probably turn the still super popular Shane Mcmahon heel instead...

That woudn't make sense unless DB went heel also, which would be rediculous

They have a weird face/heel thing going on with Stephanie and Foley on Raw, I could see them doing the same with Smackdown... it would be shit, but I could see WWE taking that route instead of doing the obvious thing of turning Ambrose heel instead.

Bloody hell, you'd think Oaf was going to Wrestlemania with the way he talks about it!
Sssssh. I'm trying to keep it a secret.

Rollins is going to miss WM. from the recent appearances balor has been making i reckon he will be fit to go though, although he wont slot into the HHH feud unless he fights Joe - but is that a WM match?

It's not actually confirmed that he'll be missing WM yet... it all still seems to be up in the air. I'm seeing a lot of talk of a roughly 8 week long recovery period... which leaves it tight as hell if that's true. May come down to him missing WM by like a week, or perhaps going into the ring too early and making it worse, or whatever. I guess we won't know, WWE won't know, and Seth won't know, if he'll make Mania until the last second...

So do they book him in a match that they possibly can't deliver? Or do they play it safe and keep him away?

As a fan, it'll suck to see another WM without him seeing as he absolutely stole the show last time he was at WM, but more so I feel so sorry for Seth right now as a human being. It hurt him so much to miss out last year and he's been so looking forward to making up for it at WM33... if he misses that as well, he'll be crushed. And, long term, what does this mean? Will it keep happening? If so, how much longer can he really keep going? Could be really live his life going through constant back and forth spells of wrestling then rehab?
