I think that Hartlepool fans cockiness at the time was mainly on twitter and not on here that I can remember, the Hartlepool lot on here are some of the best posters on this forum IMO.

Even game I think, Lincoln probably done better with the ball but we took our chance. Both sides look pretty good if I dare say. Hessenthaler is a fantastic player, running the show for me.

Yeah, even game but we’ve had a few more chances. Not the most exciting game. Famewo is getting run ragged but apart from that, Lincoln are what I expected: pacy attack, hard defence. The first half confirms my belief that Bostwick is a pure iron man. Collins poor for us, O’Connor and Frecklington poor for Lincoln. After some pretty heavy treatment at the start, McCartan hasn’t lived up to my expectations. Woolford and Hessenthaler have been very good.

Fair play to the fish, they are the better side at the moment. Hopefully our midfield turn up for the second half. Far to much space in the midfield, it looks like we are playing with 10.

Knew we'd struggle today. Fair play to Jolley, sounds like he got his tactics spot on.

Thankfully Akinde (pen) saved us from embarrassment.

Cowley hasn't quite cracked the derbies yet. Apart from woeful Grimsby last season, we've not done well against teams we would consider rivals.

I said it would be a tight game on vitals and so it proved. If you can get a point not playing well away from home anywhere it's a decent point. Sounds like we were second best for much of it but it's good to still be unbeaten.

Thought we played Lincoln all over the park second half. Referee kept them in the game with some horrific decisions after what was a fair first half by him. It's a better point for us ultimately and this season is more about building performances than points so we'll be the happier of the two sides.

Firstly, delighting we got to share a pitch with Lincoln today. Secondly, pleased to have completely and utterly played them off it.

Lincoln were all fart and no shit, an extremely dubious pen saved you. A true lesson in how to boss a game courtesy of John Welsh too.

Would’ve taken a point before but Lincoln have got out of jail big time there, to play so well against the league favourites though should give our players and fans a big boost.
Disappointed we didn’t get the win we deserved but very uncouraged.

It's impossible to play well every game and win or even draw, we aren't going to be the Arsenal invincibles! We got out of jail at Northampton and again today. It's a bit like the concern I read on here and your boards about how poor you were at home to FGR and Rochdale, then decent against Macc and today, that's just how football is.

I think it’s more the constant noise about how great you are, I’ve just watched you and if we’d won that 5-1 you could’ve had no complaints. Disappointed we didn’t win but pleased we played so well, especially now we’ve made two good signings to boost the squad.

Crickey, how bad were we? Grimsby played some lovely stuff at times, helped by us allowing them the freedom of the pitch. Thought Cowley got the tactics all wrong and I’m extremly surprised they didn’t try and change it. Should have gone back to 5 at the back because Toffolo cannot defend.

Grimsby could have had a hatful, thankfully a mixture of awful finishing and good last ditch defending kept Grimsby to only 1. I’m not sure that Vickers actually had many saves to make? Having said that Mckeown only caught a few simple crosses and got the ball out of the back of the net. BLATANT penalty gave us a way back in. Last 20 minutes was pretty poor from both teams.

We won’t have many more games when pretty much every player on the pitch underperforms that badly. Yet we still come away with a (undeserved) point. Grimsby aren’t bad enough to go down and were not good enough for promotion on that showing.

I wouldn’t describe it as blatant, Akinde goes down very very easily (shock) where was Collins supposed to go? He rushes forward to defend the ball and Akinde uses his body to throw himself over. At best it’s soft.

I think it was a very soft pen myself (no shock that the Hull ref gave it), but we were helped to escape relegation by 2 dodgy pens ourself last season so I guess what goes around comes around.

Woosh.

I was joking mate, hence the uneccessary use of capitals. I’ll try and make it more obvious next time for you.

Having said that, our local radio said it was stonewall. Must have had a very different angle to me.

Sounded poor from listening on the radio. Need to settle on first 11 and stop changing it so much as only two players have started all 4 games.
Pretty obvious what Grimsby lacked today was a finisher, get one of those you'll be doing a lot better.
Joint top without getting going yet this season in the league IMHO.
Very long way to go.
Worryingly our keeper may well be injured again, poor guy no luck at at all.

9 times out of 10 when I've seen that sort of challenge made, it's gone the defender's way. Akinde had no intention of playing the ball. When it's in the box though you always run the risk of giving the referee a decision to make. Had that been the referee's only bad decision I could give him the benefit of the doubt but he was terrible second half and looked like he had every intention of letting Lincoln back into it. The bloke rarely gets a raving review when he officiates our games, mind.

Lincoln, for however poor they were otherwise, were a brick wall at the back and it was the sort of performance you need to get promoted. My opinion hasn't changed on them winning the league. However a benchmark was set for us today. We can't be naive enough to think we'll play like that every week but if we hit that standard against most teams in this league, we'll beat them comfortably. I'm excited to think we could eventually see it consistently and we'll be a force when we do.

Fish mate, I support Cambridge as you well know so I'm a neutral (in a sense) and I've told you before that you're wrong. Both those pens - vs Barnet and Swindon right? were definite clear pens IMO.

Would our fishy friends up been upset if they'd got the pen, doubt it.
Having seen it bit soft but that bit of luck you need sometimes
