We're motoring through this now, team will be together in no time. Well that actually depends on how busy I am at work this week, and how quickly you lot decide to put your votes in.

Team now looks like this:
GK - Scott Loach (Hartlepool)

RB - Kane Smith (B Wood)
LB - David Fitzpatrick (Macclesfield)

Right, time for the centre halves. Give us two names this time please.

Off you go.....

WELL SEEING AS I CANT VOTE FOR SHAUN PEARSON AND MANNY SMITH

Based on games seen - I will go for Roger Johnson (Bromley); ignoring the fact he got sent off just before half time.. he was completely dominant in the first half against us in the away game: nothing got past him, won all his headers, passed it out from the back comfortably, seemed a real leader at the back shouting orders all the time. Can tell he'd played much higher up.
Keith Lowe (Macc). Looked solid both games against us, and had done well in the matches I caught on Macclesfield TV BT Sport.

Dave Winfield & Keith Lowe

I agree with my fellow Tranmere Fan on that. Winfield had an excellent game on Saturday prior to his rush of blood to the brain and Lowe was very impressive at Prenton Park during the hour of the game that we completed dominated prior to our implosion. I just couldn`t bring myself to vote for Pearson although a very good CB there is something about that guy, as in he is the worst in this league of chasing referees around the pitch demanding decisions and yellow cards all the time, that makes him a very dislikeable character.

I notice nobody has mentioned a certain grey haired rotund person who plays for us yet in this catagory. Not surprised really as by his standards he has not had the best of seasons.

Lowe & Pilkington for me. Couldn’t split them so will have them both instead.

I would have had McNulty but he was a big part of that implosion at PP in February so not going for him.

A bit outside the box, Terell Thomas on loan at Sutton looked excellent to me, along with Liam Daly of Solihull

To be honest the only time I have seen Daly he did look very solid but that was against our reserve team rather than the "deadly duo" of Cook and Norwood so it was difficult to judge him based on that.

Pearson - Wrexham. Not sure about the other

Daly has looked like a donkey every time i've seen him play.

I think the best two centre halves that I saw Maidenhead come up against were in our first two games of the season: Maidstone’s Alex Finney, on the opening day, and then Manny Smith (who scored in Wrexham’s win at York Road).

That said, I wouldn’t swap Remy Clerima (who played most of last season at right-back, and so should have won that particular vote) and Alan Massey for either of them.

Daly (Solihull) and Holland (Bromley). While Tranmere and Wrexham's CB are good on paper and looked good in previous seasons, both teams conceeded 4 vs us in a game this year.

These threads are just making me realise how little attention I actually paid to any of the pseudo-football I watched this season. I simply filed the entire thing under either “shite” or “Macaulay Bonne”.

I thought the same thing when I realised I couldn’t name a single left back from other teams.

Surely no one can really form an opinion on a player from seeing them play twice a season.

It's not really forming an opinion though, is it? It's more about who impressed you in those one or two games? And if they seem to tally up, then it's probably safe to say they were decent.

Most people just go from what they read/hear rather than from a performance back in August 43 games ago.

Astles and Pearson. Both outstanding against us, only two I can really remember being than what we have.

The best central defensive pairing was Pearson-Smith at Wrecsam. However, like Renemart's remarks, Pearson fails the attitude test for me, so edged out by Dave Winfield, who impressed in both play-off matches.
