So round 1 of this year's A38 average speed check derby.

What do we all think? Exeter off the back of a couple of suspect performances host an Argyle side finally starting to click.

Does form go out the window in derbies?

Will be great to finally be able to make a bit of noise at St James now we've got a roof!

Based on playing and watching both teams this season - Plymouth by a country mile.

Just win. Don’t care if it’s a worldie or a scrappy one off Bowman’s big, fat head, just bloody win.

These matches are always impossible to predict. City will be massively fired up for this one, so hoping cool heads and patience wins the day. I see Argyle have finally woken up bs doing well, and our current form is poor, but that means nothing on the day. Will be ironing my chino's later :P1::P1::P1:

It’ll be a tight game, looking forward to it.

I think we’ll edge it, on a moment of quality from someone like George Cooper or Danny Mayor.

City 1 - 2 Argyle.

How’s Mayor bern doing? He was pretty anonymous at ours the other week in a good Argyle performance. Not noticed him scoring as regularly as he did at Berry.

He’s scored once I think. However, he has won us games by going on mazy runs and setting other players up. Was suspended against Carlisle and Lowe put him on the bench against Leyton Orient.

He’s clearly excellent at dribbling, and he’s very quick, but so far this season the end product hasn’t really been there. He’s also carrying a foot injury, I think the game against you, he had an injection so he could play.

Not confident on current form, but we have been here before. Weather looks awful so expect a heavy pitch which may affect things. Hope Bowman has his shooting boots on.
I'll go for a 1-1.

Looks like the weather is going to play a big part. What’s the drainage like at the shed these days?

I see Leicester set the bar with their win against Southampton, but with a fair wind, I think City can beat it today :bg:

Great first half from CIty but with no end product. Penalty was definite in my biased view, and we deserve to be 1-0 up. Hope we don"t sit back and try and defend second half as Argyle have been poor so far and I reckon that is due to the pressing game we played in the first half

We didn’t turn up at all. Completely deserved. Yes the first goal is important and it was soft but still we’ve been humped.

Every dog has its day, assume the next game will be sold out in the home end too!

Is Lowe under any pressure at Argyle?

Wouldn’t say so. The fans buy into his philosophy and he has a lot of them hanging on his every word. Some of us can see through that and possibly soon others will.

Personally willing to give him time to get it right consistently, as when it does come off it is brilliant.

Dunno why you would be won over so easily. Especially given how Ian Holloway made you all buy in only to do one as soon as possible. Lowe is an absolute mercenary and even if things go well he'll jump ship to return up North as soon as the first opportunity arises. Likewise, if things went wrong, he'd feign homesickness and engineer his own way out before he was even pushed. I would never believe a word he says given the way he left us a few years ago when we chose Artell to be our manager. Tranmere fans also have a similar grievance with Lowe as well.

Regarding the game mind, it really doesn't surprise me to see a team with Joel Grant, George Cooper and Antoni Sarcevic amongst them fail to turn up in a big game. I'll excuse Byron as I was rather fond of him despite his inconsistency and he did occasionally deliver big goals in his prime.

Didn't expect that!
Tactical masterplan from Taylor, going 4 4 2 there. All the old lags played really well, but star of the show for me was Randell Williams who was exceptional. Argo looked poor but I will credit that mostly to our players who pressed throughout. Great atmosphere and a great day out. Honorable mention to the pitch which was immaculate considering the amount of rain. Now for some beers!

Exeter’s performance was admirable today. Energy, desire, work rate and heart. We strolled around, little flicks and tricks but didn’t want it anywhere near enough.

Ryan Lowe played this game down and it showed on the pitch. The fans of both teams know what it means yet our manager said it’s just another game etc.
