For sure that would be an incentive to some players but for most it would be offset by the financial disadvantages.
I'm not sure about the larger stadia point, once you take out the terrible twosome there are plenty of stadia in League 1 which are just as big, if not bigger than Aberdeen's, Hearts and HIbs'.

Yeah but why would you take out the two biggest teams in the league? Aberdeen are all but guaranteed 4 fixtures against each, each season. These games are routinely televised.

Players playing in League One won't ever get to play in equivalent stadiums (unless a cup tie) and will get far less media exposure.

As for your point about revenue, Rangers have far higher revenue than Aberdeen, sign players from the Championship (including those in the Championship team of the year) and are still not as good.

And that is highly amusing!
There's no doubt that McInnes has done an excellent job at Aberdeen but limited amount of revenue that Aberdeen make every year will limit the quality of players he will be able to attract to Aberdeen, summer European football and 4 matches against the terrible twosome notwithstanding. Maybe the new stadium will help but until something changes for the positive, Aberdeen aren't going to get the quality of players they need to get them into the group stages of the Europa League.

Well I saw the Burnley V Aberdeen tie last night and it was very much a laboured win for Burnley, on paper it should have been a fairly straightforward two legs but as expected the Scottish side really raised their game. In the end the added quality told, but with Burnley not strengthening their squad yet and the potential of having to juggle 4 competitions it might severely impact their league form. Two legs with Istanbul next, probably the toughest draw they could have got. Rangers make it through and Hibernian also join them both picking up 1-1 draws, Rangers will face Maribor and Hibs take on Molde in the 3rd qualifying round.

Burnley come away with a 0-0 draw in Instanbul after just 29% possession and 18 shots for the hosts.

Hibs also draw 0-0 at home to Molde.

Very good 3-1 win for Rangers though against Maribor.

Shame there is no Europa League football tonight but Hibs are out after a 3-0 defeat to Molde in the second leg.

Zenit are in to ET after coming back from 4-0 down with 10 mean against Dinamo Minsk

Was a bit surprised they lost 4-0 in the 1st leg ?!

Rangers looking good and reckon Burnley will win 1/0.

Great effort that from Burnley.

Cant see them beating Olympiakos though
Is it? Looked a rather easy opposition on paper and they have looked to make hard work of a not so difficult task (just like against Aberdeen).
Saying this, Burnley remain hard to beat so the tie against Olympiakos will be interesting.

Finished 8-1!

With 2 late penalties which might raise some suspicion.
8-1 is an outrageous score after losing the first leg 4-0. Made even more insane by the fact the score went from 2-0 down to 6-1 up with 10 men...!

How fucking dodgy is that? I mean can't be discounted as Zenit are a solid side with a decent budget but.....hmmm

Actually, just seen the highlights, a couple of Zenit's goals the Minsk keeper might've done better but nowt you'd put down to a bribe, merely crap 'keeping. Two penalties both the right call. On the face of it, seems fair but having lived 3 years in Russia and I've seen this done there before, I noticed the Minsk fans (incidentally the only ones allowed in the ground ??) turned their backs on the game which in Eastern Europe means the fans reckon it was fixed. Could be, but their team was shite on the day. Hard to tell as usual, typically Russian

Think Basaksehir actually came 2nd in the Turkish league last year so maybe not the whipping boys some view them us - seems like they are a fairly new team to the league though.

Not sure Burnley beat anyone easily - just get the job done.

At home I made Burnley favourites but as said already Basaksehir are no mugs, Burnley have had it tough in qualifying with the draws. I'm sure they'd have rather been brushing aside Albanian and Kazakh road sweepers and playing the likes of Olmypiacos in the group stages, a 1-0 aggregate win wouldn't surprise me though.

Another solid away result for Rangers who should be all but in the group stages, they play Russians UFA in the play off round. They'll probably want the job done at Ibrox as the trip to Russia comes 3 days before the Old Firm game. Hibernian again wont be making the group stages, a 3-0 loss in Norway against Molde means they'll be back to focusing on their domestic campaign.

Russian club FC Ufa have sensationally revealed that they may need to forfeit their Europa League tie giving Rangers instant access to the UEL Group Stages. There is a concern over British Visas, the club hope they will be fast-tracked in time.

Fucking hell. Tinpot.

À Luxembourg team getting through to the group stages would be a huge achievement for their league. Their teams do seem to be doing better in Europe each year.

Given what has gone on and the relationship between the UK and Russia maybe its not such a surprise!

Well, if Iceland can do well with a similar population, why not Luxembourg (although I understand that a high % of Luxembourg residents are foreign nationals)?

Well, if Iceland can do well with a similar population, why not Luxembourg ?

The minnows are closing the gap. Iceland have proven it. Luxembourg are also improving. The Faroe Islands did a famous double over 2004 Euro Champs Greece in 2016 qualifiers. Andorra beat Hungary last year in World Cup qualifiers.

But as previously quoted by rudebwoyben a team from Luxembourg in group stages will be nice especially as Niederkon have been knocking on for a while. Last season they famously beat Rangers!!

I wouldn't call Iceland a minnow a decade or two back. I would have ranked them among the likes of, say, Finland. Not bottom of a group, just 4th or 5th.

Burnley 3-1 down in Greece and now down to 10 as Ben Gibson is sent off. Looks like an uphill task.

Why did Burnley field their reserves in this? Once in a generation opportunity for them.

Tough draw though, certainly when compared to Rangers.
