It was really poor again and we are some way from where we need to be.

Clarke played well and Knowles showed a few glimpses of promise in the short time that he was on.

I thought the booing of Dempster's substitution was way off the mark. I can't deny that we were very poor but given what was on his bench, to go 4-3-3 and remove Khan who had done very little seemed sensible to me.

In fairness to khan the lad isn’t a forward.

Should have put him wide and took Mac Donald off instead and played knowles for longer.

Who’d be a manager huh

Macca isn’t a footballer.

If people legit think we’re promotion candidates then they have issues.

We’re a million miles off challenging the top 3 and Macca epitomises that.

Didn’t win on the bandit in the Byron this morning that’s why we didn’t win.

7 (SEVEN) home games without a win, 3 under shitcroft and 4 under dempster.

No crisis though, apparently

A crisis is getting locked of your ground while in non-league getting battered by Hayes & Yeading 4-0 in front of 200 people.

Get. A. Grip.

That own Goal

I never said there was one, some fans seem to think there is - as said last week - all we’ve got to do is look at county and chesterfield to realise how well we’ve got it - any fan under 25 wouldn’t really remember anything of what we were like under Haslam and how bad it is.

One things for sure, this manager and team need to get hold of themselves and start performing - the performances at home this season in each game have been shambolic

Its not a crisis ,today was probably a bit of damage limitation ,we can get some players back now and hopefully get at least a couple of new ones in ,you cant really have a crisis in august can you ?

Mmm, thinking more about the substitution and his decision to go 4-3-3, it was a good change. It got each winger into a more advanced position and meant we had pace on either flank.

After bringing Smith on against Orient early and it having no impact on the game, I can't blame Dempster for waiting to bring Knowles on. That said, I did like the look of Knowles. For a young man he looked to hustle and bustle which is a very positive quality.

A critique of Dempster shouldn't target yesterday's substitutions. The critique should be the gaps between our lines and our inability to sustain attacks. I appreciate yesterday was a hot day but the gaps were huge. These two factors suggest to me that we are doing very little work on these areas in training. For all Flitcroft's faults, I cannot deny that we were well-coached. Flitcroft's thinking was on a higher plain than is Dempster's. It appears that all Dempster is telling them to do is stay touch tight, get stuck in, boot it to Rose etc. We are not drilled at all in sustaining attacks (think back to how good Lincoln were at doing this last season when they were chasing a goal at the One Call).

Agree with pretty much everything Stringy said, the sustaining attacks were a major problem yesterday although even with only one fit striker and CJ Hamilton still on holiday we still look dangerous and will clearly score plenty of goals this season. It's pretty obvious we are n owhere near as well coached in comparison to under Flitcroft although surely that's expected, our manager still has no style identity to hold on too and only five competitive games under his belt.

I'm not gunna pretend I'm not bitterly disappointed by our last two games, but we literally did only have 10 experienced football league players avaliable yesterday and like I said we were unlucky not to win despite the fact it was a average performance, Stevenage were very poor.

Side note, If John Dempster keeps insisting on every player being in our box for a opposition corner he should be sacked. It's common sense really. Also don't think we have won at home in 6 games now :eye:

Get your facts right, only 6 with only two of them down to DF.
