Any of you done this before? I'm just starting it again as I've never got past the first week. Determined to be able to run a 5k by the end of it without having to take breaks or walk for the majority. Eyeing up doing a few parkruns before the end of the year.

I am halfway through it coming back from a massive injury that stopped me doing pretty much anything for a very long time. It's good to have something pacing you, and at the end a 5k is an easy way to make you feel good. Good luck!

Good luck, I got back on my walks in the last week (heel is killing me though!) doing a couple of miles at a time slowly building back up again. I'm too heavy to run and always seem to go over on my ankle whenever I even walk at pace, let alone run!

Diet is the biggest thing with me, I started off well yesterday and was determined to stick with it, but then I miscalculated my tea and got the hunger pangs, and by the end of the night had stuffed my big fat face!

I'll get it right though.

The diet part is my downfall. I'm a fussy eater so eating right doesn't walk hand in hand with the exercise.

I gave my finger some much needed exercise in downloading the app... err, a few weeks ago. Not done anything since and probably won't for the foreseeable with the World Cup now on. DETERMINED (well insofar as a lazy sod like me is ever determined) to actually get off my arse and do it at some point this year though.

This is the best kind of motivation. Thanks!

I started on the C25K many moons ago, I saw a photograph of myself at a mates wedding and thought, shit! I can’t be looking like that.

Fast forward about 10 years, 7 stone lighter, countless events, 10ks, half marathons, triathlons, I can honestly say that doing the program is up there with giving up smoking as two of the better decisions of my life. I run 5 or 6 times a week now, fantastic way to keep an edge on your fitness and allow you some guilt free indulgence down the pub/takeaway.

Definitely stick with it

You should get yourself to your local gym and have a pt teach you squats deadlift & bench - combine with hill sprints. It'll boost your jogging no end.

I started a c25k app 2 years ago when literally couldn't jog for 1 minute at a time. I now do 10k twice a week. You just need to find a way of completing the app - even if it takes you longer than 12 weeks - keep going. You'll be amazed what you can do even within a month...

Don't worry about diet, mine is shocking I eat crisps, chocolate and other crap everyday, probably at least 5 or 6 bars of chocolate a day.

I regularly run, do park run most weekends, run 10ks during the week, can run half marathons, and have done a marathon before, thinking of doing another next year.

Just go running and have a steady increase on how far and long you can run for each week.

Completing Week 2 tonight after a week and half rest due to chest pains (not related to the running). Can't believe I'm still motivated to do it with the World Cup being on and Wimbledon kicking off this week.

Are you using a breathing rhythm?

Not specifically. I try not to focus on my breathing otherwise it tends to get too fast because I then become conscious of my breathing if that makes sense.

Currently stuck on Week 4 due to the hot weather. It's far too hot on the evenings when I finish work. Week 4 ups the running sections to 5 minutes & 3 minutes from the 3 minutes & 1.5 minutes from Week 3 so it is definitely pushing me!

You could run 5k now. Your body will let you - only your mind is holding you back.

I'm aiming to do a parkrun a week on Saturday just to see how I get on and if I need to walk sections, it's not a massive issue.

Hows it going now fella?

I completed a few weeks recently, thought it was a great app and actually made running enjoyable as I normally hate running (although love cycling).

I had to have a minor surgery (nothing to do with running) in June which meant no physical activity for 6 weeks - with the weather constantly at 32c everyday out here - I need to start getting back into it in the evenings. Thankfully on Tuesday though I'm moving into a new apartment with a gym in the building so that'll get me back into it easier with the heat
