On other news, Notts County have lost £16.4m in the last ten years!!!

Bury are only at £10.5m for the last ten years.

@PriceOfFootball on Twitter is well worth a follow for those interested.

But our joke of an outgoing chairman claims he has left us in a better place. I just hope this new bloke has enough about him to get Day's shambles in order.

From what I have looked at Bury have been run terribly and to mask it any other way is delusional.

Anybody can see that, Bury fans on here and the MB have been saying it for years.
We have had CCJs, WUPs, huge losses, and three bad years of mass spending but poor performance in league one. He built his entire chairman reign at Bury on a lie that the club was seconds away from going under until he arrived, something that was an out and out lie.
If you have a look at the main Bury thread you will see on my post some other gems that the lying tosspot has come out with before leaving.
Any other outgoing chairman would leave quietly, not Day, he had to go out with a cringeworthy interview, or in his own eyes, a blaze of glory.
Unbelievably there are still Bury supporters who think he is the best thing that ever happened to us.

Thought they'd have lost more tbh. Fat Al must have lost a shitload since taking over and still in the relegation zone, cracking financial decision - no wonder he looked so ill on Saturday

Fat Al ? That’s a bit rude .

He certainly has personally haemorrhaged money since becoming our chairman , probably more than anyone at this level . However , a chairman losing lots of personal money each financial year is hardly a new thing in football .

With a free coffee token for his next visit to court.
These days he plans a trip for his family to London each year around the date of the inevitable hearing, the hotel staff are all on first name terms with him.

Morning Clive,
Morning!
Is it that time of the year already?
Indeed it is.
Goes by fast these days doesn't it?
Indeed it does, how's the kids?
Oh great, Emma passed all her A-levels and Darren will be back from his second tour tomorrow.
Good to hear
You want the usual breakfast order?
Yes please.
Good, you know the way to your room right?
Haha, third floor, turn left and right at the end right?
Haha, and would you like to book now for next year?
Best wait till I know for sure if I need to come down again.
[Both laugh]

We've all been there sadly, 2002 went into administration and 2015 the bank were after all their money back.

We never did go into admin, though came close in the conference.

Not a stain i'd want on our club

Do you still both with the co-op now, or have you fucked them off

Sad to see Macc are having problems but Bury have seemed to be on a suicide mission for years.

Our chairman has.

He has been comparable to Custer at Little Big Horn when his Indian scouts reported the biggest Indian encampment they'd ever seen, and he still went in.

I think they've got a new bank now, as we've cleared the debt with them now.

I’d wager virtually every club at this level has lost a few million over the past decade. Who on earth would own a lower league club to make money?

Owners loan their clubs money at 20% interest. Chuck in a million and get £200,000 every year. Piece of piss.

Smurthwaite essentially has 'invested' millions but they are directors loans so essentially always there to be taken back, hence when we made a rare profit last year and made millions in fee's in theory he would be owed that.

I must admit our new owner makes it sound like we are finally going to change our ways and even had a pop at Day in the process. It will take a while and we won’t really know if it’s the truth until we see obvious action or until the first set of accounts come out for him which will be another 2 years away.

Fingers crossed.

Haslam made Mansfield a profitable company and I imagine in the end ran off with with a few million.

Indian Dan I would love to see how many are charging 20% interest from funding the club, any figures? Clubs at this level don’t have a high enough income to pay £200,000 in interest every year.

That’s the problem, though. As fans, we invariably get fed shite when it comes to your club’s finances. I haven’t a clue as to whether Lee Power is a cuddly philanthropist doing his best for STFC or some east end crook fleecing every penny and using the club for money laundering.

I know which is more fucking likely, though. He was asked on a fan’s phone in what interest he charges on his ‘loans’ to the club. Said he didn’t have a clue - that was down to his accountant. Fucking bollocks he don’t know.

We just suck it up.

‘We’

Again I would love to know the owners that do that, yeah it happens but is it widespread at the lower levels? In fact hardly any clubs are profitable outside the premier league so where is all the money coming for interest on millions of pound loans?

I’m pretty sure all loans at MTFC are interest free.

Well, you/we don’t know - that’s the problem. But can you really believe that the majority of owners who have no historical links to their clubs are just pouring their money into some bottomless pit with no intention of making a personal profit.

Lee Power has stated on numerous occasions that he is in it to make money. From that, I can only assume he actually is making money. If everything was above board why do so many clubs just produce abbreviated accounts that tell fans absolutely nothing - until the shit hits the fan. Loans taken out on the structure of the club, consultancy fees charged to the club - it goes on and on.

You think your owner isn’t screwing the club for personal gain - and that may be true - but you don’t know. As long as things are OKish on the pitch nobody cares what is actually happening in the boardroom. Until it’s too late.

Football clubs - especially small ones - are the perfect vehicle for money laundering. Transfer fees are almost universally undisclosed so figures can be manipulated.

In the old days owners got their cut by under declaring attendances and pocketing the cash from the turnstiles.

Give Kieran a follow on Twitter please; I think it would help give you a better grasp on the reality of running a football club outside the premier league.

This notion that all these owners are in place to profit is absurd and if you do have a gander on Twitter @PriceOfFootball you’ll see several accounts and general summary’s of football clubs financial situation and it doesn’t back you up very well at all. One thing I will say that I suppose can support your conspiracy is a lot of owners pump money in to a club which would go to the tax man anyway.

Here’s part of the OECD report on fraud inside football

Massive money flows that move in and out of tax havens, huge and irrational transfer payments, inflated agent fees and betting networks can all help criminals trying to pass off their illicit gains as legal.

The sport's image also plays a role. Clubs are less likely to report money laundering for fear of losing sponsors, while criminals may use ownership of a club to forge legal business ties and win lucrative construction contracts.

The report cites several examples of clubs in financial difficulties whose deficits were funded by suspected criminals.

Investors may get their "laundered" funds back by selling the club's equipment and services at inflated prices, or via sales of media rights, tickets, players and merchandise.’

There is st least one club being investigated right now for money laundering.

He has mentioned getting debts owed to the creditors and CCJs in line. This is something that will surely make its way into the public domain sooner rather than later if it is true.

Are we on the same wavelength here, I’m on about L1/2 and I’ve even gone and asked a football financial expert who says few very are doing so due to the clubs already losing mass amount of money.

Until you got some evidence it’s just a conspiracy that only you seem to believe in.
