I’m absolutely astonished by the bookies odds for this match.

They have us favourites despite the facts that we haven’t picked up a single point or scored a single goal in our last 5 home matches and when you consider Newport are 4th, it seems crazy.

You can get 2/1 on the away win, and you can get 9/2 on Newport to win and keep a clean sheet. Very tempted by that last one.

The odds are not so surprising. The bookies have clearly taken into account the current Newport County injury crisis. They've been dropping like flies. Defence and midfield are really stretched at the moment.

I think you're giving them too much credit for the amount of research they do into the lower leagues.

Very important win. I felt we deserved it, just, having had more clear cut chances despite Newport being much the better team.

We were outplayed by better quality players, but we dug in, created some excellent chances and could have had 5 or 6 goals had our finishing been better. Grinding out wins when you’re on the back foot is a good trait to have so more of the same please.

Great goal to win it as well. Grainger makes such a difference for us.

Interesting team Newport, that Bakinson is a hell of a player. Strong, good in the air, pacey and terrified our defence every time he ran at them. I was praying in the second half for Flynn to drop a bollock and sub him. They were very good going forward and if not for Adam Collin would have scored a few more. Joe Day also made a few good saves and at one point in the first half if was us that could have put the game beyond doubt as he denied Yates twice when a goal looked more likely.

Their defence though, was nothing short of hilarious and must be why they've dropped off the pace recently. They made it easy for us because all we had to do was put a cross in and wait for the inevitable howler, that said, those were the chances we didn't put away, so they didn't make the highlights. There was one moment where Demetriou tried to head it clear, but instead just headed it about two foot into the air and then landed on his arse so when it came down next to him Nadesan could just take it on his feet.

I think a draw would have been a fair result, it was a fairly even encounter with both goalies distinguishing themselves and for all Newport's fancy play they didn't outcreate us. Grainger and Devitt both returning has made a difference for us, especially Grainger's ability to get goals from nowhere which we could have really used in recent games.

I wouldn’t disagree with any of that. We were without three central defenders and had two full backs as part of a back three which didn’t help. Strangely enough, didn’t think it was a great time to play Carlisle! After however many games without a home goal it was inevitable that you would get a few.
Obviously gutted to concede in 93rd minute after clawing our way back into the game but a great strike from Grainger. Would fancy Carlisle for a top half finish.
