Probably the first game this season I’ll be properly confident going into. Couple of squad injuries but we’ve been performing well and would always back us at home against a newly promoted side. Especially as we should have Maupay back.

We’ll probably keep as close to our usual line up as possible. Benrahma deserves to keep his place after his brilliant performance against Forest.

Bentley

Dalsgaard - Konsa - Mepham - Barbet

Macleod - McEachran - Sawyers

Benrahma - Maupay - Watkins

2-0, reasonably routine win

You do realise Nick Powell is playing for the opposition right?

Yes, but being a player of such pedigree, he struggles to motivate himself when playing against the likes of us

We're top of the XG Brentford are top of the XGA. We're statistically the top two performing sides this season, both look quite similar on paper, both have young sides and play high pressing, high tempo attacking football so you'd expect lots of goals as we're both the top 2 teams for creating chances and probably get a 0-0 now! We've both played almost identical fixtures too, Forest, Sheff Wed, Rotherham at home, Villa and Stoke away, only 1 of the 6 fixtures has been different. Separated by 1 point in the table too. However, Brentfords home record is superb, 2 defeats in 24, a record going back nearly 18 months and we've only won 2 fixtures in London since the FA Cup win 5 years ago, so would be delighted with a point.

Winning 1-0, should be more. Wigan are a really dirty side though, no idea why them, and so many other sides in this league, seem so intent on injuring opposition players.

As usual, the ref has been fucking awful.

Of course, Wigan would be playing a lot better if they had superstar Nick Powell playing. Unfortunately their replacement, also seemingly called Powell, has been pretty useless.

To be fair to the Wigan keeper, he’s made some awesome saves.

2-0, could have been 5. Up to 2nd. Wigan had one guy sent off, easily could have had more.

Like how you conveniently ignored your keeper making the save of his career from a 30 yard Powell volley. Different game if that goes in.

From the edge of the box, not 30 yards, and to the keepers near post, nowhere near a save of his career.

Also conveniently your only shot on target of the game.

You guys were outclassed from start to end. We could have had 3 in the first 10 minutes.

Indeed but we won’t play teams like Brentford every week so no need to panic. We’re a mid table team who will win a few and lose a few all the way up until May. We go again.
