Well we’re officially f*cked. Hopkin quits for inheriting the most gutless squad we’ve ever had. Relegation a certainty.

Hopkin leaves with something like the worst win percentage of any manager, for me the blame lies with the players on the field (individual errors leading to goals an almost weekly occurrence) and the chaos in the background that has crippled us in recent times. We’re £2m in the red, have a scarily overpaid squad per their ability and haven’t been able to bring in anyone on anything better than a short term deal since he took over.

But apart from that it's all grand...

Don't know what you're drinking but it's doing you no good. Walsall players don't know what a goal looks like but they found it 3 times on Saturday.

Dark days. Have faith in the power of your support and hope you have some active bright people who are prepared to dedicate their life to the club. We got lucky in our backroom people led by our under the radar hero Gary Sweet. Hope you can all come together too. Same with Coventry. Two great clubs

But it also says a lot for sustainability. Everyone wants success, but overstretching your financial muscle and it comes crashing down. We should know about that more than anyone.

There are quite a few clubs in all divisions (the Premier League less so than 10 years ago because of a humungous increase in TV money). I read an article this morning about Mansfield spending £2.5m on wages alone; and you look at the other teams that overtook us to that Conference title in those years - Fleetwood and Crawley: their business models aren't sustainable without the crowds.

Edin Rahic, the German part owner who has since left is the man to blame, the ‘money man’, Stefan Rupp is still here and seemingly covering the losses alongside former the former Chairman who is back in overseeing the day to day running. It is Rahic why we are in this situation, why he has single handedly killed off years of progress under Phil Parkinson, stripped the club of all the staff which got us to where we were, to dismantle a squad that lost only to an offside goal in the Play Off final, to have managers run for the hills rather than work under him, to tell them what to do, to micromanage every inch of the club, to sign players with no manager, to put off so many candidates last summer appointing a no body youth coach that didn’t even apply, to spend the biggest budget we’ve had in years on absolute crap.
This was the hand Hopkin was dealt, he knew all this but was unable to turn things around, the squad, a spineless bunch of underperforming, overpaid dross that the sooner the majority have left the better.
What next? We either write the season off and plan for the summer or hope for someone trying to salvage some reputation (Paul Hurst?), as with sponsors and managers a like, we’ve been nightmare for so long, many are put off being interested, with Rahic gone we’re more attractive to a point but equally look nailed on to go down, and who would want that on their CV.

Clubs fucked, will take years of rebuilding to get it back to League 1. I know we're only 3 points off saving ourselves from relegation but I really can't see it.

Thought Hopkin was better than quitting though. I didn't actually mind him and he came in at a difficult time and had us playing really well at one point. Not sure what's changed in 2 months but it's gone so downhill it's untrue. Saturday was the final straw.

Its an interesting one with us, 2 years ago we made a profit of circa £4.5m, last year we lost a couple of million. We have one of the largest wage bills in league 1and expect us to lose money againin the current year. Against this we have a Chairman and CEO Steve Curwood who have been a bedrock of the club for many years and run the club responsibly
We have a crop of young players and if they maintain their development can bring in some (hopefully ) good money.
If only Jamie Vardy would do the honourable thing and get transferred for around £20m, that would bring us a windfall of 25% of the fee which would be more than useful, how about it you Hatters !!

You only turned a profit because your owner rents office space at your ground at unbelievable amounts. Any suggestion that it's 'sustainable' is pure fantasy.

They have players (plural) on £30k a week still. They probably have a budget 4-5x the size of ours with the parachute payments.

Are you denying your owner rents office space at your ground?
