If you watched then you would have seen that it certainly wasn't one way traffic.
I certainly don't agree with Sl1ks views on this subject but I also don't feel the need to join the throng. It's been covered and his views have been challenged. What more is there to be achieved by the same question being asked of the same person?
I like and respect you too and fwiw it wasn't you I was thinking about when I posted that. It's become clear to me though that some posters are using this to push their own agendas. I'd love to be wrong and see several pages of condemnation and challenge next time homophobic views or language are used elsewhere on the forum.

I don't recall seeing it ignored or unchallenged anywhere. Aside from Frealaf above being a tool I don't see it being used anywhere.

Apologies for the uncharacteristically antagonistic post (may have had a few beverages). I wholeheartedly disagree, however. I see no evidence of agendas at play. I think every challenge has been measured and reasonable (and actually quite restrained given the crass nature of his opening gambit). In response I've witnessed someone fail to deal with the substance of the criticism directed at him (the propensity to play the victim doesn't really help his cause and is actually pretty unattractive). I don't really wish to labour the point any further and am happy to agree to disagree but I have to say that my experience of this place doesn't really chime with yours. Then again, I seldom visit the lower league forums (bar the Ryman League thread which is a bastion of civility) - I'd imagine the same goes for a lot of posters on this part of the site.

BREAKING: Senate blocks Democratic bill to ban the sale of guns to suspected terrorists.

What a broken fucked up country the US truly is.

It's not as mental as it first appears. The bill would effectively give the government the ability to limit a persons constitutional rights without any due process. It's doubtful that would have been deemed constitutional in the first place if taken to court.

Could apply to the recent spate of attacks in France and Germany too.

The media does not help with the frequency of these attacks. People are so easily influenced by what they see - I recently read a book (Influence by Robert Cialdini) that warned against the mass-publication of events such as suicides, because they reinforce ideas that potential perpetrators of such acts may hold, thus increasing the number of suicides. Research has shown that even mass-publicised violent sporting events correlate with an increase in violent crime in the short period after. In cases where a black boxer beats a white boxer (and vice-versa) in a big fight, the amount of crime against the race of the losing participant increases. This is how easily we (as an overall population) are influenced. The power of social proof.

We shouldn't be digesting media and news the way we do. In a relatively tiny amount of time, we have gone from hunter gatherers who only hung out in social circles of ~150 people to receiving news like this from millions of sources. It's incredibly dangerous and the tactics outlined in Brooker's video above by the media have only gotten worse. The dissemination of information needs to be smarter, though due to sinister reasons, it probably never will be.

^ NSFW. Heard it earlier and the screams really made me feel ill. Can see a red laser on the black dude as the player cam fades out, he was apparently fatally shot.

Doubt it Benji. If nothing happened after Sandy Hook (bar a dude claiming it was fake becoming a millionaire), nothing will work.

As usual, Americans blaming everything but their gun laws.

- video games
- Millenials being raised without the ability to accept losing. I even saw a few comments saying that the whole “participation trophy” culture was to blame
- bad parenting
- lack of security at the event

I did read a stat that of the 27 deadliest mass shooters in the US, only one of them grew up with their biological father in the home. That's pretty interesting if accurate.

Reports suggest he had previously been hospitalised for psychiatric treatment in his teens yet he was able to purchase a gun.

Digging into it a little bit, it would seem the stats were twisted quite a bit by a religious website (Patheos).

However, according to http://thefederalist.com/2015/07/14/guess-which-mass-murderers-came-from-a-fatherless-home/ the actual stats are

Of the US' 27 deadliest mass shooters, seven were committed by young men since 2005. Of those seven young men, only one was raised by their biological father throughout childhood.

Nevertheless, still pretty interesting.

If you're looking for a pattern for violence across the board. All of the perpetrators being men is the best place to start.

Gawd Bless Murica!

But yeah, that should have been their 'Dunblaine'. The moment that everyone decided enough was enough. But instead the parents have been hounded by a c*** trying to sell snake oil via racism.

Do you think a psychiatric ward is Arkham Asylum?
