Alan Devonshire on Maidenhead's red: "I haven't seen the challenge... we'll be appealing."

A red all day long.

Best of it was Warney agreed, I can only assume the rain was in his eyes.

The bloke was totally out of control and he could have broken Wiles legs.
Absolutely no need to do it either, it was well in our half,

There was another one equally as bad later but luckily he was so late he missed the player totally and slid into the boards himself.

Maidenhead did ok but shot themselves in the foot, our subs killed them because they were tiring noticeably after half time.

Do the Maidenhead kids usually throw coins across at visiting supporters?
First time I've seen it happen for a long time at away games.

LOL, good luck with the appeal. The Maidenhead player was late, high, and not in control of his tackle. That red will never in a million years be overturned.

If we were performing well on the pitch, I don't think the atmosphere at the club would be an issue.

The other issues, which all stem from the way the club has always been run under TK but more importantly, us moving away from Barnet, come to the fore whenever the team isn't performing well.

We need to be realistic and accept Currie needs to remain in charge this season so that he can learn from his mistakes and then build his own squad in the summer. If we achieve anything this season it will be a bonus.

We are only 8 points off the top despite looking to be desperately lacking in confidence. Things could be a lot worse.
Yeah, I think reading the comments of fans on the club fan and Twitter (I’ve never looked at BTID as I value my sanity) makes one think that things are worse than they are.

That foul was the textbook definition of a red earned by reckless and dangerous play.
The denizens of Maidenhead are wealthy enough to dispose of their surplus monies in that way.

Maybe watching it live it didn't feel like a dangerous tackle - I can't see how anyone can watch the replay and not think it's a red though. He should have said he'd not seen it so can't comment.

Devonshire always comes across as a dick in his interviews though, so not surprising that was his reaction.

A lot of Alty fans are upset by this as it spoils a great day out on Saturday in York and some had already made arrangements, booked tickets etc. Why does it take the Beeb so long to announce this ? This will reduce the away following from about 450 to an awful lot less.
The upside is Alty get some BBC money.
I was away and missed the match,.. but Alty did take 454 fans which was decent for a sunday lunch kickoff. Despite 4 away draws, we still keep progressing. York can have another go, we Alty just drew York away in the FA Trophy as well,.. you couldnt make this up :brill:
Alty played in last FA cup game at Bootham crescent and now do same in FA trophy,.. assuming it is the last:dk:

Devonshire is an effective manager for a low budget team like us but when you watch his teams and listen to his comments you often get the impression that he hasn't paid much attention to developments in the game since the mid-1990s.

To some extent that's a good thing, as it means that he's immune from getting a team of average-to-poor players to play naive tippy-tappy football, like a few managers at this level I can name, but on the other it's dour to watch and almost painfully regressive at times, with Devonshire often preferring centre backs on the wing rather than signing actual wingers.

It was a red all day long and comments like that don't surprise me from him as that would probably have been a yellow 20 years ago, so to Devs it's still a yellow now.

This is on a par with Mary Whitehouse's "I haven't seen Romans in Britain, but I'm sure it is absolutely disgusting". :fl:

Northampton away for us. Not great but I wouldn’t rule us out at all.

It’s undoubtedly really boring, but close enough that we’ll take a few and one where we’re in with a decent chance I would say.

Once it got down to the last 8 teams I only wanted Vale or Northampton the rest were much worse than what we got.

Local game but probable defeat

Goodness me Harrogate are having a mare.

A second power failure with the game already delayed until 20:40

This is what happens when you have small crowds and pay players more than a grand a week to play in the Jumpers For Goalposts National - no money left to put on the electric key.

Very dour draw. Will be shocked if the BBC don't pick Maldon.

Our game against Blackpool will no doubt be moved to Sunday for the crappy BBC goals show.

It is the shittest and most ridiculous thing I've seen that. Moving matches to daft o'clock and they aren't even on live TV.

Wouldn’t it be better if they just showed one of the matches live?

At least the clubs involved get some ££ for it though.

About £12k I think it was for Round 1. It was novel to see K's on TV & as I couldn't get to the game (because of the switch to the Sunday so it was bittersweet) I felt it worked well.

Boston at home in round 2 is a decent draw, good chance of progressing.

Which means we will definitely get stuffed by Rochdale in our replay.

Right, let's see if we can get the game on tonight. The FA Cup has been a complete shitshow all round for us so far this season.
