Doing ok so far ..

Yeah, surprisingly good first half. In typical Charlton fashion though it had to be difficult.

Just pleased to get back to winning ways before the big game against Sunderland next week.

More injuries today though ffs

Really enjoyable game that was. Played at great pace and intensity throughout which is pretty remarkable given the amount of games in a short period of time.

Barnsley looked the real deal to me, big, athletic, technically really good side and you could tell they have great quality. Some of the movement in the midfield was really superb, really pulled us out of our shape very well, probably the only side other than probably Charlton to do that to us at home and it took us a large portion of the first half to get to grips with it and they should probably have scored in that period when they had us on the ropes a bit. Once we did the second half we had some decent openings and opportunities but I think you have to say the draw was fair. 2 really good sides and a real good quality game to watch so I’m happy with that.

Echo the thoughts of others, Barnsley looked really good. Seemed they had done their homework on us as they diligently applied an extremely high press on our centre halves and keeper to stop us playing out from the back as we usually do. That meant we inevitably had to go long and neither Hylton nor Collins got much change out of the two Barnsley centre backs.

We were massively second best for the first 45 mins but second half was more even and we had the better chances in that last 45. I think both teams will probably be satisfied with a point but will think they could have nicked it (the Woodrow miss was a sitter, nice of him to do his old club a favour!).

Thought McGeehan had a decent game. He looks a more well-rounded midfielder than when he left here for sure.

Bit of a boring draw today. Neither team did much or created much. Perhaps overall we just shaded but it would have been by the finest margins if we did.

Burton are an honest team, nice not to see cheats/diving/constant time wasting.

Have to say though that this relegation zone must be the most in form relegation zone out there!

A decent game of football and a shame it finished 0-0 really. Deserved goals. Think a point was a fair result but very fortunate to go in at half time on level terms. As said by my fellow Hatters Barnsley impressed greatly with their ability to move the ball quickly. I think you could see first half which of our players would struggle at the next level not that I wish to name names that would be unfair. Barnsley were first to every ball, broke with speed and played a neat passing game finding their men with every pass. We on the other hand panicked at being pressed high up the field and resorted to some of our bad habits from league two by launching the ball long. Thankfully second half we were a different side and looked more interested in getting the ball forward. We began to win some of the midfield battles and created a fair number of chances but couldn't find the net. I thought we looked the team more likely to win second half which would have been unfair over the 90 minutes. A draw is a good result as we get one of those difficult January fixtures out of the way. The unbeaten run continues too. Think we may need to bring in some fresh legs Saturday as there were a few tired ones out there today. MoM for me today was James Justin who looked a class player. Some of his decision making and his ability to read the game is above that of league one. He would certainly have no problems making the step up. Thought the Barnsley keeper was decent. Very confident and it would have taken something special to get past him today.

We over played in the first half, however deserved to be in front. Wimbledon stepped up 2nd half but it took a goal of season strike to get level. Lucky we have enough about us to step up a gear and get the winner. 7 points clear of 3rd. Great start to the year

Still don’t understand how Barnsley aren’t top as like in the away game, I’ve yet to see a better side in the division. You can see there’s bags of quality on the pitch. Perhaps defensively they could slightly improve. Teams think we break at pace, but Barnsley are quicker than us at that.

Liam Lindsay at centre half was phenomenal - he is a real find out of Scotland and is clearly above the level.

Definitely a point gained; I think really it was just 2 teams cancelling each other out.

Blooming heck, we won. And actually deserved it. Really enjoyable game to watch. Oxford did not really look up for it, and I wonder if there is some internal dissension? Certainly, I understand that the radio interview from Curtis Nelson did not assuage the belief that he wants out. We saw his partner before the game (she taught my kids), but obviously asked nothing football related.

My thoughts exactly. Our form has been absolutely unreal throughout December and of course today, but we still find ourselves just outside of the relegation zone on goal difference only. We’re winning games, granted, but it’s the manner in which we’re winning and dicking teams left, right and centre.

Those in mid table will be looking over their shoulders.

We just picked up 10/12 points yet find ourselves level by goal difference.

Thankfully because of these results though, a lot of midtable teams are starting to get dragged down a little bit - just a couple of weeks ago it looked like the bottom 4 was already decided.

Looking at the highlights from some of the other games in the league today, got to feel a little bit for Gillingham - had what looked a blatant goal not given for Southend to play on and score right up the other end! Looked like the Southend centre half literally standing in the goal played it to the keeper to pick up who then throws out for Southend to score. Play to the whistle comes to mind but think they were justifiably pissed at it.

Decide for yourselves!

Yes we didn't deserve anything today - the change in Bradford since we played them in October is quite remarkable. I thought it was a sending off for Zanzala (who wasn't doing much anyway) but I thought the number of bookings today for both sides was harsh - I don't think it was a dirty game at all.

Thankfully now we can focus on the FA Cup for a bit (Ipswich at home) but it looks like there's going to be a few ins and outs over January at the Stanley.

Play to the whistle indeed. Draw would have been a fair result but some very fine keeping and a little bit of luck got 3 points. Certainly looks a goal on video but in real time I think it was very hard to tell, it's why we need goal line technology at every level. Chris Powell asked the lino after about it, said he told him he felt the whole of the ball wasn't over the line. The Southend fans that side also couldn't be 100% in real time as to whether it had gone in. Might have been a bit of karma though for the amount of times Tom Eaves fell over in the box when someone even looked at him, doesn't need to do that, he's the divisions top scorer and good enough to not bother with any of that.

Can't believe we're 9th, gaggle of exceptionally ordinary teams in the middle of this division of which Southend are one. The emergence of our youth players into the first team as been a highlight of our season but we are desperately short of players and a decent January transfer window could actually see us have a run at the playoffs. At least we get a week off next week thanks to Donny still being in the FA Cup.

Even on the video it's hard to tell. It happens to fast that the first 3 times I watched it I struggled actually tracking where the ball went at times.

RE Bold point - I know people say this every year and all but I really do think this is a very weak L1 overall. Last year I thought it was a strong league generally, but this year it's probably the worst I've seen.

We've played Luton (A), Sunderland (A), Barnsley (A), Peterborough (A), Charlton (A) & Pompey (H).

Whilst we lost all of the games, only Charlton beat us by more than 1 goal which they scored at the death whilst we were pushing for an equalizer. And tbh from watching the games, the only one who really put us to the sword was Luton (didn't watch Barnsley so can't comment).

Maybe it's just one off games, but I haven't been overly impressed with the standard of the league this year. In fact, the most I was impressed by was Accrington!

Certainly was hard fought but a pretty dull game with few chances for either side - Fleetwood showed little attaching intent and got exactly what they came for which was a draw. They looked quite dangerous from set pieces but neither keeper made a save of note from what I remember, although i may have nodded off at some points during the game....

I'd categorise that as a disaster for us. Weve not looked the same defensively or quickness of attack since he got injured. Really makes us tick and lose him just when we needed him the most. We're no one man team but any slim hopes of going up just went up for me.
Jonesy has now pretty much confirmed Glen Rea, our on field captain of late, is out for the season. We need to sign a replacement as McCormack won’t be able to sit in there for rest of the season.

Really good to see Luton fans be complimentary about us again. I've heard we played well first half and worked hard to contain Luton in the second, and I'm pretty happy with a point tbh - no ground gained but none lost either. Not many sides will take 4 points from them and it tops off a great festive period against the sides around us.

Nice of us to randomly decide to be good again after nearly two months without a win. Three on the bounces vs Charlton, Southend and Wycombe puts us in a pretty decent position going into the New Year, and with our next 7 games being Scunthorpe (a), Wimbledon (h), Plymouth (a), Blackpool (h), Gillingham (h), Rochdale (a) and Walsall (h) it feels like we have a decent platform to build off going into the business end of the season. Saying that, we tend to struggle against the lower sides, so I wouldn't be particularly shocked if we lost half of those games. Our record against the top 7 is very good however, P8 W4 D2 L2, which is encouraging.

I agree Barnsley are a good side but being their bogey side I wish we could play them every week.
It's strange that however bad we are, we can still always beat Barnsley.
Mind you we have about five bogey sides we can never beat

In fairness we've a good record against you these days at Oakwell, think we've won the last 5 in the league or something.

In Coventry however...
