As opposed to Mansfield of course, the Monte Carlo of the East Midlands!

Obviously!

Should be alright on the opening day, get yourself off into the railway pub with real ales and you’ll be fine. Am in Amsterdam so won’t be about annoyingly, but if we could both go up....

I think Mansfield and Newport are the league 2 custodians - this will our 6th season here for both of us

Third time in recent seasons we’ve met on the opening day too! Not the most glamorous fixture for either of us but at least we’ll take a decent following as it’s first game. Will have a pint for you in the Railway!

Do it’s my local! Great beer garden also so if the weathers decent you can make the most of it.

I'm actually really annoyed Lincoln away is the 22nd of September. I wanted it the week before as it would tie in with my graduation and having it so close yet not the right weekend is a right kick in the teeth.

We play Lincoln 3rd game in and if we lose it’s because our players haven’t properly gelled yet, and if it had been a few weeks later we would definitely have won it. :ohy:

Midweek NW travelling for us with Tranmere, Carlisle and Oldham on Tuesday's. I wanted to tick Oldham off the list but that'll not happen now.

Looks a tough start for us - Northampton, Swindon, Grimsby, Bury, Notts County. Bit of a mix of games there - relegated sides, PO rivals/losers and local games.

Doesn't look a too bad a March and April based on last seasons positions.

Assuming it's the Lincoln Xmas Market on the days either side of 8th December because we're away.
I really don't think the EFL know about Lincoln market , they don't even realise Vale and Stoke are 5 miles apart

Here we go again . We are away from them for 4 seasons and come back to find Oldham are still obsessed about their away support. If I was them I would be far more worried about their home attendances which on average last season was 700 less than ours yet 2 divisions above us.
Why would I worry about something I can’t control? Until the atmosphere at BP improves, and the results improve, it’ll continue to be shit. Much more fun away from home.

But if talking about it winds you up, I’ll continue.

3,000 hahaha come off it. You don’t even take that to Rochdale 4 miles away. You only just get more than that at home.

Don’t get me wrong, Oldham’s away support as a % of their gates is great... but Christ there’s some delusion there.
Yeah 3000 is utter bollocks - where he’s got that from I’ll never know.

2k is only possible if we get off to an absolute flyer.

Which is still a great effort, there won’t be many 2k followings in this league.

They do, because we always have to be playing away.

Club's can request dates they don't wish to be at home on.

I disagree but its just my opinion so you could all be correct.

I'm basing this on a hunch and some sort of new optimism I suppose.

Over the years and I think I qualify for supporting the club for a while, I have been amazed at times by the amount of fans we have taken away, I am not just saying in league 1, before that our away support was really good, many many more than 3000 on many occasions BTW.

I'm not a boaster about anything Oldham because we have had nothing to boast about for since the 90s.

If our pre season proves to be exiting, and I mean if AL puts money into it and I assure you Bunn and Rhodes haven't come cheap, so the guy may have money to splash, time will tell. If this happens there are lots of Oldham fans who don't attend who could be tempted back by a team going for promotion and I think the Morecambe game will capture the imagination of many who only attend away matches.

I would like to see us, Tranmere, Bury and Stockport all doing better and being league 1 at least, all clubs have a healthy rivalry its a shame to see us all in Div 4 and even worse for Stockport.

We are all experts on message boards and we all seem to know more about other clubs, finances, chances and fanbases than there own fans.

My opinion is we will do well, gates will increase over the season and we will beat MK Dons first game of the season and take more fans to Morecambe than expected by yourselves.

We will take a couple of 2k plus followings at least i.e. Crewe and Macc Town assuming we still are able to have that many.

Why wouldn't we give you the 2.3k you usually get?

Can see the northern teams numbers having a boost, what with Tranmere, Bury and Oldham in the division.

I mean't Macclesfield as we haven't played for a while up there.

You get more than you’d think

Notts county had Luton, Coventry, Lincoln and Mansfield all take 4,000 plus to meadow lane for instance.

I'll be very, very surprised if anybody fills our away end this season.

Depends which bit you mean! Our last three followings to you have been 7,000, 3,000 and 2,500. If we get off to a decent start I'm sure we'll bring our usual couple thousand to you.

Gracias :£:£:£:2thumb: those away followings helped pay for a much needed new PA system and two new strikers for next term . Merci
