Looks to be a good time to be playing Mansfield town. What's gone wrong so far this season as I expected better from you.

A solid start for us considering the tough set of fixtures we've had so far. With Mansfield tomorrow and Swindon on Saturday it doesn't show any sign of letting up.

I'm going for 1-1.

Even if we win it will be demoralising.

Maynard is out and Cook is not back yet so probably Rose upfront alone with a six man defensive line. Can not wait.

In regards to what’s wrong, like I was saying all pre-season - we have a manager hopelessly out of depth.

I can see Calderwood making a few changes tonight. Ward almost certainly won't start this time and Taylor will be brought back in, Carruthers probably won't be risked tonight either.

Hopefully Smith can go on a scoring run.

1-1 draw.

No holding midfielder for us tonight, could be a problem.

We’re en route to the conference with JD in charge.

Sort it out John, get rid of him.

First half one of our best performances this season, CJ missed two absolute sitters so lacking in final third only problem.

Second half Matt Preston decides to two foot studs up a Cambridge player, straight red fans turned against him booing him and shouting at him to get off the pitch. Comical stuff.

Then we managed to gift a pretty toothless Cambridge a goal via shocking defending, then we fell apart, although we did miss another 1v1 before we conceded another. 4-0 was very harsh, Cambridge were wank in the first half but after that the only winner was them.

Directors were even storming out, reckon Dempster will be gone.

We were dreadful up until the red card. We looked tired and lethargic but managed the game well despite not playing too well.

The red card was one of the worst tackles I've seen for a long time. Hopefully Hannant will not be out for too long. Once we made a change after the red we started to turn the screw and scored a scruffy goal. The second was a very well worked goal. Can't see Mansfield keeping their manager in charge for much longer.

Whoop!

No doubt Mansfield should have been ahead at half time, and should have made it 1-1, but when you stick 4 in I'm willing to let that slide. :bg:

24 years watching and I finally feel confident when the opposition have a man sent off. 3 for 3 this season, 3 league away wins, and not even the end of September, excellent. I thought we'd reverted to type before these last two games and that we'd get nowt from them and Swindon on Saturday, sure showed me!

Watched on ifollow, it’s an absolute clusterfuck right now. Said from early on dempster was the wrong man, it’s sad to be correct on that one.

Preston is a completely bellend and should be fined at least a couple of weeks, it’s almost like I’m obliged to apologise to the Cambridge fans for that challenge, it was dreadful.

Dempster will be sacked in the morning, the players signed his death warrant tonight.

Preston should definitely be fined, it didn’t look like much contact but either way it was a horrific challenge.

Nice to see fair views from Cambridge too.

Great result for us, but could be a bitter twist if our best player is out for long.

Evans to Flitcroft to Dempster is not the direction your managerial appointments want to go.

I blame anyone bar John Radford, naturally.

So who next?

That tackle by Preston was the worst and most stupid tackle I have ever seen live at a football stadium. It was appallingly timed, saw it coming a mile off and just a completely ridiculous tackle for JD and the team. You might think I am being dramatic when I say this, but I would be quite happy if Matt Preston never played for us again. He was also gesturing towards the fans as he went down the tunnel (looked like a wave to me although others were saying it was the Vs). I don't understand how he can even gesture the fans, they were rightly calling him out on a thoroughly ridiculous tackle by a "professional" footballer.

Forgetting the result for one minute, the best thing for all is that Hannant came through that tackle relatively unscathed, because his leg should be broken.

At least the new managerial recruitment phase will be exciting.

What’s the odds on us paying compensation for a L2 manager that is not Darrell Clarke?

Hannant is your best player? Wow. He was OK for us, worked hard but he had limited ability. I can't imagine he has improved that much in 4 months.

Well we’re certainly the league 2 circus anyway, following us is never boring one way or another.

Hopefully there’s actually some thought process into this managerial appointment

Preston is clearly thick as shit. Good attributes for a centre half but a complete doughnut.

I guess that's why a lot of players end up playing no higher than this division though. Some of the decision making in games is appalling.

Depends who’s making the decision.

Just gotta hope CR puts her foot down and Hymas gets all mardy and pisses off to create another football club.

He's been the most consistent performer this season and is heavily involved every time he plays, his effort is unmatched as well. Technique wise we have better players like Carruthers and Roles but none of them have made the impact Hannant has made. If the season ended now he'd win player of the season.

Exactly, but I’m hoping lessons have been learnt, managed properly this side is easily good enough for the playoffs, of that there is no doubt, and if done now it’s not too late either.

Rather sad state of affairs though

This side should be top three.

I know this is a common thing to say when ya team is performing shit but nobody we have played have impressed either, Newport in the first half were the best but they collapsed afterwards. Exeter solid but no more, Scunny, Carlisle, Stevenage shite, Morecambe, Cambridge, Orient, Crawley average - Mansfield can be added to the shite list too.

Anyway we are still in a salvageable situation but it’s going to take sacking Dempster this month and getting a managerial appointment right for the first time since Paul Cox.

Mansfield sound like Bradford City did last season. Plenty of players brought in, that on paper look good enough, but appoint the youth team manager, who is out of his depth?. Exactly what happened with us, and we never recovered from the awful start.

I doubt you will finish bottom as we did though. But an expected promotion push looks a long way off under Dempster.

There is a very good ex Bradford City manager out of work at the moment, after resigning at Bolton a few weeks ago. Although, I doubt he would drop back to league 2, but you never know!

Could be this seasons Notts, a bad start and wrong managerial appointment and confidence shot. Sure they won’t but Notts on paper were expected to get promotion.

Strange league this league.

Didn’t bring many players in, similar squad to last season with some additions.

When a player rolls around that much you know he isn`t hurt, shocking tackle mind but not as bad as the Crewe lads on Saturday IMO.
