Entertaining game at Crawley today. 39 shots all told (BBC stats). Flunkey goal for us to win it. Big deflection that wrong footed the keeper but if you don't shoot you don't score.
Sendles-White made his debut for us today in place of the injured Dalison and he looked a good player. Early days I know.

The defence that finished the game was a complete second string.

Doherty, Tunnicliffe, Sendles-White, Young....alright Young started the first game but everyone was expecting the loanee from Brum to be our starting right back. We have back ups!

Mansfield will feel they deserved something from the game but I just thought we edged it.

We were bloody awful for 75 minutes until we got our technically better players on and we started to pass the football. Oldham were better than I thought they’d be as they passed it round nicely, no thanks to us however. There’s two midtable teams if I ever saw them.

Jolley has to stop pissing round with pointless personnel changes. Hewitt and Hendrie at fullback is the only combo that has worked this season. Sure it isn’t perfect but Liam Gibson and/or Seb Ring aren’t good enough. Such a shame we can’t find a decent LB for balance. We also missed Matt Green a lot today.

That was the 5th game out of 8 played that we’ve gone behind and still got something, can’t remember us ever being this resolute before.
2-0 down to both Colchester and Oldham and drew both 2-2 and 1-0 down to Bradford Port Vale and Walsall and came back to draw one and win the other two.
Without those comebacks we’d be joint bottom on 3 points. :bg:

We sounded like we deserved fuck all, as were shit and have a terrible manager.

Alarm bells going off right left and centre, losing at Crawley would set them off even further, it’s a complete circus. Losing at Crawley? It’ll be port vale next week!

We’re in a self induced chaotic situation that no-one can seem to the reason for, basically as it stands were fucked.

Tuesday night at home to Cambridge is basically the most obvious 3 points going, fuck that up then sack him.

I feel for dempster, what’s sad is that Redford wasn’t even involved in the process of hiring it was steve Hymas - part of the board who made the decision - it’s of little surprise the radfords have flown back from Portugal to see this.

It’s interesting that after 9 games there are few fans still actually believing he can do this

How dare massive Mansfield lose at little Crawley.
For what it’s worth, I would have a bet that little Crawley finish above at least 12 massive clubs this season, including your good selves.

Looks like Crawley fans have woken up to the fact Cioffi might be pretty hot after all then.

Bit of a delusion of grandeur by Mansfield fans there to be fair, Crawley have spent more time in the league above than Mansfield this since of the millennium.

Heavily financed squads don’t guarantee success as Notts proved.

It's what Adam does , there are countless examples.

Thankfully it seems contained to just him, and other Stags fans don't fall into this laughable trap.

Mansfield have failed to score in any of their last 3 league visits to Crawley, so yesterday's result was just business as usual. Not sure why Adam is so triggered. Standard result.

Can only imagine what other fans make of us!

Of course Radford wasn't involved. No way any blame can be aimed in the great ones direction :brill:

It could have been Crawley it would have been anyone, you’ll see how bad we are next week pal, I assure you, get to the bookies and lump on a home win.

Money doesn’t guarantee success as notts so excellently pointed out last season, but you’d at least like to have a style of play, an idea of what you’re doing and where you’re going - we have none of those, he’s a nice guy but out of his depth completely.

They’ve made the wrong call unfortunately

Then why was he appointed and given licence to sign players on good salaries. Why skimp on the manager but carry on financing good players?

Doesn’t make any sense to me.

That’s the $64,000 question bud, nailed on the head.

The appointment appears to have been made (or at least largely influenced) through steve hymas - one of the directors who is closer to dempster through the links with the youth team, in that end we’ve a decent set up and dempster won a few leagues in a row, it was presumably that thinking that led to the appointment - though I think most fans were underwhelmed at the idea.

Maybe he’ll come good, he certainly wants to hurry up and get cracking - word has it he’s got 5 games (it started against Scunthorpe last week)

He was an internal appointment so I presume they knew all about him

Of course.

But managing a youth team all under your wing is a different kettle of fish to players in the first team. There’s no discipline in the side either, he can’t control the players, I hope for him and for us that he turns it around, but I just can’t see it.

Looks clear to all that after an expensive appointment in Evans, Radford decided to take the cheap option and go internal.

Easily identified by many as a big risk but at least the cheaper option. The strange bit for me is to then spend so much on playing talent. Sounds a mixed up contradictory plan. Falling between two stools

It’s hardly as if they were looking to Dempster to carry on Flitcroft’s ‘style’ seamlessly. Maybe they’ll do it arse about face this season.

Struggle initially, pick up at the back end and THEN fuck up the POs!

Hmm, since being back in League Two Crawley haven't done that well. I've got to be honest that before the game I'd be disappointed not to get three points at Crawley. It's one of those games against a lower midtable team where if you're serious you should take the points. No disrespect to Crawley, just taking into account the league positions of the past four or five seasons.

Why would you take into account seasons 2,3,4 years ago? Totally different sides and managers. And Notts fans get accused of relying on history. You can't have it both ways Stringy :dis:

Surely you take into account this seasons league table prior to kick off yesterday?

It's true we've not set the world on fire in the last few seasons but we're actually on a cup run for the first time in ages and have a young squad starting to do reasonably well. Top half or play-off flirt I hope this season.
Our home crowds are generally shite though so we're doing well to stay in the league I think.
Are we seen yet as an established league side? I know we were reviled when we first came in to the league.

I mean I don't know what's going on at Crawley. They could be better than previous seasons; their representation on here is pretty low and we're never going to hear about them in the Midlands just by flicking through the radio like we do for Derby, Forest, Lincoln, County etc. I'm just sharing the hunch before the game. Clearly we have no right to win, but surely if you're going into that fixture you're fancying your odds based on what you know, even if our league position doesn't warrant it.

I hadn't really thought about it. I don't think the traditional league club thing holds so well anyway, it changes so much over several years.

From an outsider's point of view I didn't think Mansfield were at all bad. On another day you could have won that game. Our keeper made a couple of good saves and you had one off the line so it was not one way traffic by any means. I did think you started a little to defensively but if it had worked everyone would say how good the tactics were.

We have started the season pretty well. Having said that we are a team that you need to beat to win the league so it depends on your viewpoint. Are you expecting to win the league ot challenge for a play off spot?

If it is any consolation, last season, bradford promoted their youth team coach to first team coach and spent a fortune signing expensive players. Some, we are still trying to get rid of.

The recruitment by and large has been good, though of course time will judge that more accurately as the season moves on, its more down to the manager who had no authority over the players at all.

I think the players are as confused over the tactics and style of play as the fans are - I’ve still not worked out what his game plan is - I don’t think he knows himself!

It's mainly people who don't really have a clue what we're up against each season. It's a usual knee jerk reaction to when we lose to a team that haven't won all season like Saturday. That was classic Morecambe really, although we were pathetic apparently.

Jim does a hell of a job don't get me wrong, but some people are getting sick at how negative he is tactics wise, setting up defensively at home etc. We would probably get relegated if he did ever leave like McCarthy at Ipswich did, but there are weaknesses in his management style that probably explains why he's never been snapped up by a bigger team.

No idea why the owner has done that, it's pretty unprofessional behaviour. He's come out and denied it but it's pretty clear to see. The owners are planning to sell us at the end of the season anyway, so we'll see what happens in a few more defeats time then.
