Why did it breakdown I wander? Last I heard they were doing diligence on the financials and what debts and to whom were owed. Possibly an issue with what was discovered there?

That would be the obvious conclusion or Dale has moved the goalposts.

Mr Frith told BBC Radio Manchester that the organisation which held the mortgage of the club’s ground “refused to budge” in negotiations and had been involved in “financial speculation that has made the takeover of the football club prohibitive”.

So the EFL statement says C&N have pulled out entirely, not just refused to buy today and requested more time. Worst possible news.

No more postponements now. Time to draw a line.

Very sadly yes.

This is the statement from them, so looks like issues that have come up in their due diligence.

So, why are dodgy owners allowed to appoint their own dodgy administrators?

Surely they should be independent - not your fucking son in law

Absolutely grim this, I know its unfair on League One clubs from a football perspective but everyone should be hoping for an extension to this deadline. Imagine not having a club to support.

It goes without saying but I am hoping against hope that Bury somehow pull off a miracle and I'm sure every Notts fan would agree having been so close to extinction ourselves a few short weeks ago.

Weren't this group saying that had been in discussions for 10 weeks? Or did Dale say that?

In any event, they're effectively saying what we've all know for a long time, and that's that Bury's finances are an tangled mess with clauses on clauses and mortgages on mortgages. It speaks volumes that they're saying that's the issue rather than 'only' getting an additional 72 hours. That would have been the easiest and most obvious line to take.

Are Bury in administration. I thought it was a CVA.

Whatever the details are, the voluntary nature of Bury's current situtation means Steve Dale can do whatever the fuck he likes.

Can only really say to all the Bury fans am gutted for you. Could so easily be any number of our clubs in recent times.

Day and Dale are both an utter disgrace and the EFL need to take a long hard look at themselves after this though they won’t.

That club statement is basically Dale asking fans not to destroy his asset and main objective all along so he can sell it full price.

It's a disgrace that the EFL have set them such a short deadline. The sensible thing to do would have been to remove the club from league 1 and give them until July to get sorted ready for league 2 next season. These stupidly short pressured deadlines are only going to either lead to talks breaking down, or more dodgy c*** being rushed in as owners.

Sadly judging by the reasoning of the pull out in their statement this one may simply not be solvable and be too far gone.

While I sympathise with Bury fans and agree the EFL are pretty crap they have given Bury (and Bolton) extension after extension. To do what you say would set one hell of a precedent. It would also mean that every club going into admin/cva/bankruptcy has a season with no income so losing all players, staff etc. plus the owner would have to agree to keep everything intact while negotiations drag on and on.

Other clubs in the divisions wouldn't know wtf is going on, are they going to survive, are they not. Will they start next season or do we have to fcuk around with the promotion/relegations again.

Never ever going to happen, especially when you have an owner that wants way more than the club is worth.

As many have said, a pre season meeting where all clubs have to show funding for the whole season or you are out has to be implemented.

Is there any danger of the FL extending this? Hope you get it sorted down the line

Sad news, especially for those who have supported the clubs involved for many, many years.

Went to Gigg Lane once, in 2000, and we won 2-0 there. I think Jamie Cureton netted one and Phil Parkinson captained the side that day. We pulled our minibus into a social club on the outskirts of Bury, can't remember the name of it, but the local patrons were very welcoming and we got quite a load of change back out of a twenty, it was those days

Bolton, well, I've never forgiven them for beating us in the 1995 Championship play-off final. But I've met one or two great Bolton faces over the years whilst following England abroad and I know how much they'll be hating this - it's never good to see two old traditional clubs go out of business.

Not only you.

Thought so.

This isn't some shitty transfer deadline day countdown bollocks, this is people's livelihoods and vital parts of their community that mean a hell of a lot to many people, that are on the brink of collapse.
