Is it Campbell?

Looks like it from the noise on twitter. They need the extension from the EFL to ask Dale more questions so far from over yet.

We will see what the EFL come up with.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

The whole thing is an utter shitshow though that the media have loved as they've got their 'deadline day-esque' claws all over it.

"A club like Bury ought to have a viable long-term future even if the short-term future is clearly very challenging. To that end we have been in discussions with the EFL about an extension so that we can continue to explore the prospects for a purchase."

They've apparently been 'exploring the prospects' for 10 weeks - if they don't know by now if they want to buy Bury a couple extra days surely won't do any good. Hopefully the EFL tell them something similar, either buy or don't bother.

If those accounts are a true reflection of C&N Sporting Risk how are they any better? Weren't the EFL asking for proof of £1.5m from Dale? I know it's not that simple but it doesn't look like Bury would be far better off under them than Dale.

In theory yes, but i really think there's been a lot of unmoral and possible illegal goings on at Gigg in the past 5 years. Guessing they need to make sure that they dont get involved.

Surely the these lot look just as bad and clearly don’t have the funds to get bury out of their mess - why would the EFL allow it?

All those accounts show is that they've lost £200k on a small start up in a niche industry over the past year.

That's not particularly unusual. I would imagine they have resources that extend beyond what is in the company. Rory Campbell is an Oxford grad and given his background will likely have some money behind him. Henry Newman is an LSE economics grad and has been involved in coaching and scouting for many years. This bid seems legit.

All smoke and mirrors with shell companies and subsidiaries I think. The official records probably show Steve Dale doing all he can to save Bury. 'spoke to a representative from our largest creditor this morning, SD holdings limited, about an offer to repay the debt, unfortunately the representative, one Mr Dale was adamant that he would only accept payment in full.'
Yeah, I'd agree. They probably end up effectively talking to themselves half the time.

I thought I'd read they needed £2.7m this season.

I'm knackered so hitting the pit. Hopefully I'll read that Bury have been saved when I look in tomorrow. Happy to have a couple of cast iron relegation teams below us, not happy with the idea of teams going bust unless it's MK.

So current situation is:

Dale says a deal is done.
James Frith plus Campbell & Newman say deal is not done, they still hope to complete but need some more time beyond the deadline (how long I don't know).

Needless to say, I don't believe Dale.

Looks unlikely anything will be resolved tonight. Will probably have to wait until the EFL's statement tomorrow.

There will need to be an extension until at least Wednesday. Remember this is now a BH weekend, and nothing will happen on the legal side until Tuesday.

Yeah don't know if they're necessarily legit, Rory Campbell is Alistair Campbell's son so make of that what you will but the accounts for their business doesn't necessarily tell you anything about them.

Surely just a little bit of KYC would tell you these guys haven’t got £4.5m to make it last just to the end of the season?

They were going bust mid-season and Shaun Harvey didn't want the negative publicity of that affecting the EFL brand.

Any member of this forum could've taken over that football club at that moment such was Harvey's desperation not to hurt the brand so much. That man has ruined English football in the 21st century in ways no other man could.

And yet the Football League management allowed the brand to be hurt this season instead.

Think the efl should stick to what they said before. Makes a mockery of the league.

I get the notion that we’ve had enough deadlines but that was when Steve Dale was refusing to sell, the deadlines were aimed to make him hurry up. Now the situation is completely different, we have a potential buyer. If the EFL don’t extend their deadline to a reasonable allowance (1 day is a piss take)... then the tables turn and it is in-fact them that have caused us to die by not allowing potential buyers enough time to review their proposition.

To those fans going ‘oh it makes a mockery of the league’, fuck off quite simply, one postponed game for you, or 134 years of history down the drain for us.

Or that is what Dale would like everybody to believe. Why did not he agree to sell ten weeks ago, when this consortium first showed a serious interest ?

Because he’s holding out for all he can get by playing a game of brinksmanship. The guy has nationally showed himself to be a absolute crank, the likes of which I wouldn’t wish on anybody.

This short deadline plays into Dale’s hands perfectly... if we fold due to lack of time he will simply blame the EFL as he was willing to sell.

If the takeover goes through, I imagine he’ll walk away having made £1M+ for sitting idle for 8 months.

It's not just one postponed game is it though?

You get promoted based on massively overspending and then expect a hand out when it proves unsustainable. I dont have a problem with bury, but I do have a problem with the idea that unsustainable private ownership of football clubs is ok. It's not. It's bullshit.

And so you’re going to deny us the chance of a potential fresh start with a new sensible consortium?

For what it’s worth, I can see both sides.
