Is Richard Osman a national treasure?

Is he?

He's a nice and funny man, but what do the people really think?

Edit: There are two puns in the poll options. If you're playing along at home, see if you can spot them.

said I thought he was a top bloke at Christmas and my Mum declared 'you wouldn't if you read David Walliams' book'...the issue is that I'm never going to read that book so I'm kind of agnostic on this now - I think he's cool and that but I'm keeping my options open just in case he mutilated David Walliams' dog and burnt his house down or something.

Might be why
According to a factoid reproduced on various websites, he co-wrote the 1999 sitcom Boyz Unlimited (a spoof documentary about a boy band) with Richard Osman. The truth is a little more complicated: Walliams and Matt Lucas started developing the series with Osman, but for some reason Lucas and Osman didn't get along, the upshot being that they ended up being summoned to a meeting with Jimmy Mulville at Hat Trick, where Mulville told Lucas and Walliams that they were ruining Osman's show and that he didn't want them on board. Lucas and Walliams were paid off and given co-creator credits. It was years before Walliams forgave Mulville - the latter finally apologised after a chance meeting - and in the meantime both he and Lucas refused to work with Hat Trick, including turning down numerous requests to appear on Have I Got News for You. Walliams' autobiography is rather ambiguous on whether he has forgiven Osman for not standing up for them (though he does note that Osman never apologised), but in any case it hasn't stopped him from being a frequent panellist on 8 Out of 10 Cats.

If it's a choice between Osman and Walliams, I pick the former every day of the week, he's funnier and more quick witted by far

He needs to sort his brand out. Didn't know his name but having googled yes he is a good man.

David Williams fwiw isn't remotely funny. What's with the pretending to be homosexual deviant? Just what is that about I don't understand.

Frankly disappointed so many think his staggering height should preclude him from the respect a man half his height would command.

I enjoy pointless and as I'm fairly knowledgeable re; the Periodic Table I usually do pretty well.

Richard Osman: Nice chap and I must confess to rather liking his sly digs at Alexander Armstrong who I must confess makes my teeth grind.

The epithet "National Treasure" isn't quite appropriate to him yet in my opinion. I remember Osman giving UK's votes on Eurovision a couple of years ago (yes, we watch it every year... never miss it) and he looked like a fish out of water away from the Pointless set.

He needs to add a few more strings to his bow I think. He studied politics at Cambridge so why not get involved in that on TV for a while, to show a bit of versatility.

I think he would make a pretty good director. He was the Producer for Deal Or No Deal at one time so I reckon he could make the step up to Director without too much difficulty.

He's a talented man who, in my opinion, is becoming a bit of a one trick pony, with the millstone of becoming too closely associated with an inferior act (Armstrong). Branch out, Ossie. Show us what else you can do.

I don't like him at all, pointless is a decent enough show but they drag it out with lots of tedious nonsense and there is just something rather obnoxious about Osman, i find him patronisingly insincere.

Talking of politics they had him on The Last Leg through the week speaking about May and Corbyn so he is doing that type of stuff sometimes.

One year on.

Fulham on the verge of Premier League, which could bode well for Big Dick's National Treasuredom. He has helped pay for some Fulham fans to bring their kids to the Play Off Final who couldn't afford it otherwise.

He blanked me when I waved at him near Trafalgar Square, but he was wearing headphones while striding purposely to his destination so I don't hold it against him.

I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire. Especially that if he was on fire in the vicinity of me it'd have been me that set him on fire in the first place. Apart from that he's probably a bloody good egg,

I think the answer is probably yes. Played a card game of Pointless recently when on holiday and it was good (although mostly, admittedly, because I kept winning #notsohumblebrag). Only downside was the lack of Osman so they should possibly consider including him in future editions.
