Our chief recruitment officer, Big Mick Harford was sitting alongside Alan Pardew with his clipboard and pen at the Olympic Stadium. Obviously expecting to put in a cheeky bid for Payet but was disappointed on the day!

Cheltenham are signing Jeffrey Monakana, was garbage when he played for us and we were excited after seeing his highlights on YouTube, just wasn't the same player. Not done well anywhere he's been so I guess he's just not the same player as when he was a young kid at Preston. Ali can remember was he had pace but nothing else.

Funny they also think he's a striker not a winger.

All but signed now. It is strange he's being referred to as a forward and not a winger. It's also strange that we've signed 3 wingers since Friday.

We've signed Koby Arthur (Birmingham) and Jonny Smith (Bristol City) on loan until January.

I know nothing of Smith, but Koby was at the club at the start of our relegation season. With him in the team we went top of the league. He was recalled by Birmingham and we dropped like a stone. Good to have him back.
Smith's a real promising youngster, came on a few times in pre-season and went away with the first team rather than the 21s this summer, he's highly thought of here. Only signed this summer from Wrexham though. Did he do alright on Saturday? I imagine you'll get quite a few loans from us, given the father-son link.

Barely played, only had 10 mins or so. By then the game was practically over. Looked like he wanted to give it a go though.

Re Monakana.

There is definitely a good player in there it's just hidden by the lazy sod who doesn't think he has to train.

If he has grown up Cheltenham will have a very good player. If not they have someone who will take wages for not doing an awful lot.

It looks like we might have found our striker, ready for the arrival of the Luton train. Barry Corr and Adam McGurk can relax and focus on getting ready for our Xmas fixtures

Uche Ikpeazu is the name doing the rounds. I'm sure there'll be a lot of trembling in boots.

Pigott doing his wounded giraffe impression?

Spoken to my Cambridge supporting father in law and he isn't impressed!

He runs and plays a bit like a young Michael Gash (without the goals or even shots/heads on target). He could probably do a job for City ......or what he was signed for - as a sub/partner/pupil for Barry Corr.

He started like that for us but did improve, I never particulatly was a fan but he got some goals in the end. Think he is one who needs a decent run of games, time to bed in, and a manager with a lot of faith in him before he produces. Unfortunately you don't often get that.

Piggott is by far the most useless player I've seen in an Amber shirt, and that in itself is one helluva accomplishment.

Unless you didn't go at all whilst we were in the Conference then that just isn't true, he has been pretty damn poor but he doesn't even scratch the surface in terms of utter shite we had in that time, and he's nowhere near as bad as Slew either, or the Jones fella who played half a game last season. He's probably not even been our worst player this season (Long, Dallison).

Monakana was lazy and brainless but occasionally he was very good to watch and could produce a bit of magic.

This is going back 3 or 4 years ago though, prior to spells at Aberdeen, Mansfield and somewhere in fucking Romania.

6ft 3inch striker Uche Ikpeazu confirmed on short term contract. Released by Watford, he's appeared for Doncaster, Crewe (3 spells), Port Vale, and (most recently) Blackpool.

I'm sure he's just what we need and will fit right in. Edit: Probably won't start against Luton on Saturday.

We're expected to sign Rob Dickie on loan from Reading today until January.

He was immense for us last season and I have no doubt he's more than good enough for League 2. The only issue I have is that this is now our 6th loan signing and we can only have 5 in a matchday squad.

He only had one spell with us, had a great game against Chesterfield in his first match then was useless afterwards. He played against us for Port Vale and ripped us apart then became useless again. Bit of a pattern occurring

We've re-signed Rob Dickie from Reading on loan until January. Very happy with this, he was outstanding for us last season. Means we now have six loanees though and with only five allowed in the matchday squad either someone's getting left out every game or we'll send someone back. Would hope Dickie plays in place of Easah Suliman who has been poor so far.

We've released McLeod. Just didn't work out.

Good news, though, we need one or two more attacking options and that should free up the wages to get them.

Think Mcleod will be a very good signing for you.

There is definitely a good player and finisher in McLeod, but the team needs to be built around him. Can't afford that luxury if you have no pace like this Notts side.

He's slow as a granny on a Zimmer frame so you need to literally feed him on a plate

He's slow? Is that a genuine opinion people have?

Whitfield is a great player. After watching a crap team last year Whitfield was one of the only bright points. Gives 110% every game has a good shot and a fair amount of pace and can play out wide or just behind the striker. He also swept up the club awards winning the Golden Boot and fans player of the year. Really nice guy and won the fans around quickly.

He's not slow but he's not quick either.

Never really got my head round Izale. There were two or three games just after he signed when he was bloody feet but he just seemed to lose all interest after that. His first touch is a bloody disgrace for a professional, too. Fucked it when he wrestled the ball off our regular penalty taker then missed it.
