Love the ladders, sadly we don't feature...we were still in the Southern League back then, five years and two promotions away from the Conference.

It is a bit of a snapshot from history, when you see how many teams that feature are now no longer in the Football League...plus a few in Division One who have been in and out of the league in the last decade...how fortunes can change.

92/93 was when we returned to the Southern League - I have seen an image elsewhere of us in the top 10 of the Conference, but it must have been early in the season because I think it was 91-92 when we were relegated.

Guaranteed that if it starts on page 3/5 your team ins on page 2 too.
Or if you were waiting for page 3/3, it was on 2/3 and in the meantime someone had scored and you were now on page 4.

So that's plan b then. If that fails I wonder what happens next.

Every person I have spoken to, thinks there is a very good chance of overturning at Appeal.

It did sound an absolute shambles at the Council meeting! Yet again a load of rank ammatures get to run slip-shod over expert opinions and consultation formed over 3 years.

I know you don't really want the new stadium Chris, but I really think we need to fight the Nimby parish council lots and narrow-minded Conservative Councillors on this one.

8th April 1995 we were beating Reading at home on our way to finishing 10th in the Championship that season.

Good times. :(

Stevenage have announced that they're doing online programmes next season and will charge for them.

Until you lost one or three down the back of the bed or side and had to make your own.

Used to buy Shoot and Match every week.

Anyone remember that postal management game you could send off for they advertised in the back? I did it once and got Port Vale, Tony Naylor was a hero.

Great trip down memory lane this thread has turned into!

I did that play by mail thing, I was given Doncaster Rovers. Every week I was beside myself with excitement to get the post so I could see how my team had got on. There was one I played where you could sell and buy players off of other teams, I stupidly put my phone number on it and all these kids used to phone me to try and take my players. Looking at the transfer pages, there was one guy whose mum/dad must have had a stupidly large phone bill!

Ahh, the old ceefax! Worst one was when I went to see how we got on at Newcastle in the Premier season and we lost 7-1 :(

Minutes have been released from our Supporters Trust meeting with the owner.

Key highlights:
- The contracts being offered are changing. It was explained that players would have financial rewards based on efforts put in at training Mon - Fri and match days. It is hoped that this would encourage players to ‘fight’ for first team places on match days. :err::err::err::err:
- Turned down 2 bids for the club last season
- Wants a squad of 24
- Unable to pay wages last season due to 33 players and living costs of those players

In contrast to this - I watched our first promotion to the Football League in 1999 on Ceefax as it was a Thursday night and, only being 14 - with school the following morning, I wasn't allowed to go (I lived too far away from the ground at the time).

Similar to when we beat Leicester in the play-off final in 1993, I lived in Scotland and the play-off final is on a bank holiday, only not in bloody Scotland it isn't and so I had to go to school. I raced home to check ceefax and to see that it was 3-3. It was only when I checked the times of the goals it dawned on me that we had thrown away a 3 goal lead!

The signal on Radio 5 in my house at the time was hideous but I could just about make out the winning penalty and the final whistle!

How times change with Ifollow and Twitter etc.

Is that a wind up?

That is a disgraceful excuse.

Quite. We signed 10 players in January with the majoiry of them not being good enough (or actually being inelligible) to play, and thus not actualling playing more than a few minutes, if at all.

This is also entirely reminiscent of the Steve King "era".

Cambridge 2 Pish 0 - made my day that has. Was on the 8th of April of 95.

Yes Horns, that's him.

Was the other a young Matty Joseph? Great little servant at Orient supplementing the ‘Three Amigos’ from right wing back.

Aye it was Matt. As for the other Joseph, Marc, I don't think he even scored a single goal in a U's shirt, and anyway, he only started playing for us a couple of years later than Matt did.
